I looked at it and I looked like a sort of WoW kind of thing with the big weapons and stuff like that but wasn't so sure. I like that kind of thing because it seems to look interesting.

I just want to know people's opinions on it. So can I get like a out of 10 rating or something and some feedback?

It's like an 8.8 game. Pretty sweet. Everything about the game works well for what it had to work with on the wii.

Upsides: 1.Very smooth online.
2.Dig the looks.
3.Quite a bit of depth to the game.
4.It is a very long game.
5.The MH-feeling, that is the feeling of taking down a big monster, is incomparible i think to anything else. It feels pretty awesome.

Neutral: Everybody seems to moan about the controls but they didn't bug me at all. I use standard control scheme for cIassic controller Pro that it came with.

Downsides: 1.Takes a lot of time to do something. (Some monsters are going to take You an hour eventually but it doesn't bore (so far anyway).)
2.There isn't much of a goal to work at. It's kind of like: defeat the big bad snake and then You are done. But it's a huge snake so You need to play for a long long time to get to defeating him.
So sometimes i get the feeling like 'what am i doing all this for?', and it tends to feel a bit grindy. But then i play online or meet new circumstances and i feel good again.
3.Chatting on consoles is meh. You need wiispeak or usb keyboard to the wii, but so do Your pals if You really want to use tactics mid battle and stuff.
4.There is no feeling of being in one big world because of frequent loadscreens.

I just defeated the jaggi boss......then a second one decided to appear while i was lookgin for mushrooms to make potions. came charging at me without so much as a by your leave.

i like this game :). its a b&&%$£d and it knows it :P.

if thats just the first boss..then im both looking forward to, and absolutely terrified, of what else the game has to throw at me.

would i recommend it? yes..IF your patient and willing to learn. if you want a nice relaxing game sitting back on the couch....get something else. also this is one of only 2 games ive ever played on the wii where i prefer a traditional controller. the game is steeped in tradition i suppose. but its a goodun.

Sounds interesting... I'll have to think about it. I mean what are the controlls like? Is it like wii sports where you infrared thing picks up your movements or is it like a xbox360 controller?

Also, hows the storyline over all? I mean can you turn into anything or have pets or something like that? Or is it just slay that monster then slay another?

it's the only great game to come out on the wii since muramasa.

you can play with the wiimote+numchuck with some motion controlls, but thankfully you can turn those off and just use the buttons, or you can play with a classic controller, which is the best for this game.

the storyline isn't very intricate, it's not story heavy by any means yeah it's basically hunt this thing, then capture this thing or you can have a gathering mission where you have to gather a set amount of X resource, but it has enough nice characters and all, also the offline play is a great way of getting the hang of the game before jumping to online, it presents you with the main mechanics of the game in a very nice pace.

The main hook of the game is getting/forging new and better equipment from the stuff you harvest from monsters/the field, the crafting system is fairly deep, if you like games like diablo you'll love this one.

Well there's not much to the motion controls. You can play with the CC or the the CC pro for dual analog control. However, with the wii remote/nunchuk, motion control is not necessary, but more tilt. If you tilt the remote to the left, face up towards you (vertically) or tilted right--while pressing the A button will give you different attack swings that you can combo with. It seems most people enjoy the CC Pro more or the regular CC. I personally like the Pro better, but before I got the pro, I didn't mint the wii remote/nunchuk controls.

Also shaking the remote in any direction will only execute one move, which is the same move you do when pressing the A button (while not tilting). That's why the actual waggle doesn't matter in this game. Regardless of which controller you use, there is a learning curve to this game. However once you get the hang of it, it can be very addictive! You also feel a sense of accomplishment when completing your quests against a powerful beast. That's because the game doesn't hold your hand and success if based off of real skill. However, the first few hours does a really good of pacing you to get ahold of the basics, before the difficulty ramps up.

Also, the online mode is something to really witness. You will have so much fun, although quests are easier since you're with other players for the online quests. The story is not that in depth, but there's more story here than previous MH titles. The story mostly unfolds from the dialogue you read from the NPCs. What hooks you is the depth in gameplay and the almost limitless armor and weapon upgrades you can get in order to face tougher beast. As you can I really like this game!

No. The offline is just as fun. I hear it takes about 30+ hours to finish the offline quests. So it'll keep you busy for a long time.

I noticed that online and offline quests are pretty balanced. So if you take an online quest without other players...it's usually tougher to finish (not saying that it can't be done). And although the offline quests are pretty tough as is, it would be easier with others joining in. I think the online mode is easier in general when compared to the offline quests. However, it can be just as fun. But once again, you don't have to be online to enjoy this game.

Yeah well the game is hard IMO, some monsters are annoyingly difficult to beat, but that's what makes it more fun. lol Oh and the online multiplayer is awesome, even with my horrible internet the game didn't lag at all. o.o

it's about an 8/10 in my book. that being said I haven't played enough of it yet to truly give it a fair grade and I feel an addiction coming on.

I believe there is a split screen arena mode where you just fight monsters (no exploratrion, etc.).

I had stayed away from the hype for this game, and haven't played any of the previous entries in the series. Picked it up today on a whim, and all I can say is the game is excellent. The graphics are great, and the fact that there is no conventional "levelling up" other than equipment upgrades is refreshing. The control is definitely far superior with the CC Pro, so be sure to pick up the bundle. Haven't made it very far yet, but I can tell the game will be my new addiction. The world structure is awesome, and I like it much more than an open-world setup. Having numbered areas helps you to keep track of what monsters occur in which areas (for the most part, they are prone to moving around), and allows you to feel the scope of the gameworld without having to needlessly wander for long periods of time. Looking forward to trying out the online, but I;m going to stick with the SP for a little while to build up some new armor and weapons (especially a bow-gun, I'm sure that will come in handy). To the OP, i'm not much for "out of ten" ratings. A worded review seems to make much more sense. But for your benefit, I'm willing to call this one an easy 8.5-9 out of 10. I don't hate the Wii in any way, but I have to say that in a library full of dissapointing titles, or even fun titles that just don't last long enough, this one seems to break the mould. Looking forward to many hours from it!

amazing game. 10/10 so far i have no problem with gameplay, controls, or the learning curve. it gets harder gradually but by then you get accustommed to the mechanics, common sense helps. cc pro is much easier to use but im still doing fine with the wii remote but its much harder :| wii game of '10 ?

I ordered a copy with the Classic Controller earlier today. It'll be my first Monster Hunter experience, so I don't really now what to expect. I am looking forward to playing it though and seeing what all the allure is about.

I just finished playing for 5-6 hours straight and had to force myself to get off. I havn't had an experience like that on the wii since okami.

I'd have to score the game for me personally 9.5 - 10 / 10

I have seen game play for this game, it looks pretty good however I think I shall try to rent it before I buy. This is because I wouldn't want to waste cash on a game that may not be to my taste ;)

Ok so this is what I get from all this. It is a great game, but it should only be played with the CC pro. How would you say this compares to other games for other consoles? I mean Wii has a rep for bad games. I want to get a good game and not something that will bore me.

It is between ME2 (Mass Effect 2), Fallout 3, Bioshock, and this game (there are a few others) if you had to chose between those games in this one which one would you go for?

I would choose Monster Hunter 3 because I don't like any of those other games. :P Also, I use the Wiimote-nunchuk combination. I switched over from the regular CC. It just depends on what you find more comfortable.

i am playing with the wiimote + nunchuk and the controls are acceptable. The only problem is that the camera is controllable with the d pad and items/menu are mapped to the 1/2 buttons so you often have to stretch your thumb from one end of the wiimote to the other.

I played all of those games. ME2 was very good, no lie...I really enjoyed unlike so many other short 360 games. ME2 has a lengthy adventure, but not as long as Fallout 3. However, I will say that I am enjoying Monster Hunter 3 alot more than I do those games. MH3 is waaaay longer than ME2 and Fallout 3 (even with the add on content). I say 150 to 200+ hours for MH3's offline and online quests (alot of that is due to leveling up your armor and weapons), some quest can take 30 to 50 minutes to finish (cause the monster are that tough). The game is very addicting, I'm easily 50 hrs in (offline and online quests) and I am no where near done!

I know lengthy adventure may not mean much to some, but the game play is really there. There is so much depth to game that it's not even funny. Everytime I join a new player for an online quest, they always text 'that was awesome' or 'lets do another'. MH3 will hook you.

I just bought a Wii, along with Tri and the CC Pro yesterday. The game is an addictive time sink from hell, just as I expected and wanted. Never thought I would end up buying a Wii, but I am happy that I finally got one.

I played and loved all of those games, especially ME2. If your looking for a solid game that will give you massive bang for your buck, Monster Hunter and Fallout will do that, if your in it for story, go with Bioshock or definitely ME2(you should also play ME1 if you haven't) Tri is a great game, like others said its not a traditional thing where your just leveling up and raising your attack points and a bunch of background elements. Everything is at the forefront, you are killing these monsters so you can build up your character and you see it from making armor out of them or using them to make weapons, so it has a real sense of progression, making sure you have the right loadout, and armor for a specific hunt, tactically stacking your items and combining them and nothing is sweeter than capturing a massive monster. I would definitely recommend it.
