It will have absolutely no impact unless it sells. That's where we come in.Arkthemaniac
Unless they put the word "Mario" on the cover it won't sell. Just look at No More Heroes, Zack & Wiki, Okami, etc. Even Medal of Honor sold terribly and that is an established franchise.
Well I think the problem is most people *erase that* too many people rely on reveiws for which games they should buy instead of using user reviews or just renting the game for 5 bucks to see if they like it. The abandonement of non-classical games for the Wii has been a problem but that is because most of those games suck. But the few that do come along such as the aforementioned Okami, No More Heroes etc. and are good, solid, fun games but don't get the credit or sales they merit.
This in turn discouraged third-party publishers from either creating for or porting games to the Wii and hence nothing changes. It's a sad cycle. Most people should realize that games for the Wii don't get the ratings or credit they deserve, lol, know I sound like a fanboy but it's the truth.
Lets stop pretending that Zack and Wiki and No More Heroes are these incredibly underrated games. I think they did about as well as they should have. Zack and Wiki has an annoying amount of trial and error, and No More Heroes is too stylistic to be a mainstream game...and parts of it really aren't that good anyway. And even if they had been fantastic, there wasn't enough marketing muscle to get the word out about these two no-name games.
Like others have said, it all depends on how it sells. And that all depends on the scores it gets, and how well it's marketed. I don't agree with the general consensus that good non-Nintendo games can't sell on the Wii.
well the engine is already available for use.rgame1
That's a good point. The readily available, full fledged custom Wii engine will probably have a more significant impact in the long run than the actual game itself. If it can actually do what they claim it can do...and do it well, of course.
While I admire their enthusiasm and desire to push the limits of the Wii I do not think that The Conduit itself will have much of an impact. I find the game bland and uninteresting and at this point from whats been seen I dont see it scoring or selling very well. I think its going to take one of the larger developers who have the experience, talent and most of all budget to change the current trend and push other devs to make high quality games for the Wii.
