well if she's not very good with technology, you could disconnect it from the internet, so she won't know what to do.
or you could try to get her to watch them on the computer (or connect the computer to the tv)

I will probably have to buy a roku box as my last resort. Im currently saving up for a 3DS now and 100 bucks would really hurt it. martinX3X
Then get the 3DS and tell her about the 3D movies. :)
Anyway, explaining to her that you spent 200 dollars on it and would like to get your money's worth of gaming is the best option.Talk to her about getting a Roku, and DO NOT try to make her stop completely! Pretending, at least, that you have grown more mature is a great way to get a parent on your side. Learning when to act mature and when to let loose is a big part of growing up anyway.
Or cut the wi-fi.
[QUOTE="martinX3X"]She used to watch her movies on the computer. But then when I (stupidly) told her about the Wii, she likes watching it on the big screen. i_noseworthyDoes she use a laptop? Or if it's a desktop, is it in the same room as the big screen? If so, get a longer VGA cable and use the TV as a monitor for the computer. Problem solved, you get your wii back, and she'll likely get better video resolution from using the computer anyway. If that doesn't work, or isn't possible, call child services, and tell them your mom keeps touching your wii innapropriately. Instant freedom... Yea the desktop she used before is literally 4 feet away from the TV. Ill try to find that VGA cable. I laughed at the second part :P
I earned the money myself. I mowed lawns over the summer and shoveled snow in the winter for neighbors. That's why I think I deserve to do what I want with the Wii.
martinX3X
Lol you do deserve to. She should be able to use it, but ultimately it is yours and you should have the rights to use it whenever more or less. of course, every parent is different, but personally I don't see why she doesnt just use a laptop or something, or buy another wii? IDK but I never had these kind of problems :P.
Your mom sounds like a brat imo haha. She can use the computer... She's fighting you for the Wii? Seems immature. She's a full grown adult.Elian2530
oh the irony  its just the mentality pf sitting down on a couch and watching a movie vs upclose to a monitor. I have 2 friends who have the issue that he is having. The Mom comes home watches a movie then is finished. Afterwards they can take the Wii.
Let her be happy and do what she wants with it? She works to provide you food and a place to live, after all. I'm also gonna venture a guess that she bought it.kamikaze_pigmy
She didn't pay for it, pay attention. And she is SUPPOSED to feed him and house him, she's the one who gave birth to him. Hearing people say "They give you food and shelter" is so tiring. It's not a choice for her, it's she does it or she goes to jail. If she didn't want to deal with that, she shouldn't have gotten pregnant. The fact is, he is 15 and managed to save up 200 bucks on his own, and he deserves to play his Wii. His mom is the one being immature.

Because parents are servants to their children right? They cant do anything except serve the child.[QUOTE="iBlooba"]

If she were to tell him to get off the computer that she paid for so she could get on, that would make sense. But he used HIS money, which means even more since he's 15 years old, and he can't even enjoy it. He is mature enough not to argue on and on with her about it, but she shouldn't hog it. I don't think the fact that she's his parent means she can just use anything of his that he paid for all she wants.

How can you assume he's not a full grown adult based on his comment? Sounds sensible to me. He said his dad bought her a big computer monitor just for watching movies. Not only is she putting her son out of something he paid for in full, but she's acting ungrateful to her husband. It would be more convenient for her to watch her Netflix on the computer, because unless they made some crazy PC compatbile Wii games, it would be the simplest idea. She IS being a brat. Besides, I rarely hear about moms who sit on their butts all day hogging up their childrens videogame consoles to watch "The Notebook".

Its his Mom for petes sake. it doesnt work like that. Its not a mutual relationship that you might have with your friend. The child must respect the adult. This is an age old rule that applies in all families of different cultures around the world. Respect for elders. His mom may be hogging the wii, but that doesnt make her immature. its just a piece of plastic. i dont see how immaturity can stem from such a thing. Calling another persons Mom a "brat" over something like this is immature, not hogging a Nintendo Wii. And who are you to say she is being ungrateful to her husband? are you a marriage counselor, are u 100% sure she doesnt use the monitor at all? My father bought my Mom a 2k laptop that can max crysis out, but all she does is check her email. does that make my mom a brat because she isnt using it to its fullest potential? no. i dont mean to offend Elian in anyway, but most people who make statements about parents such as that are youg teens themselves who think they know so much more. (those gosh darn hormones). Im personally shocked at the fact that you are calling TC's mom a brat over something like this. That disgusts me.

Actually, she completely ditched the computer monitor my dad bought her. I don't think she's a brat. But I do think she's being a bit greedy by just taking something that I worked for just for her entertainment, when she already has other options.[QUOTE="painguy1"][QUOTE="iBlooba"]

But I do think she's being a bit greedy by just taking something that I worked for just for her entertainment, when she already has other options.Exactly. The child SHOULD respect the adult, but it in no way should be the other way around some times too? So basically if the mom were to treat her kids like crap, abuse them or whatever, that's okay because she doesn't have to respect them? I don't know why your even posting on the Wii boards if your going to call the console a piece of plastic, it was a 200 dollar piece of plastic that his mom is basically stealing from him. He bought her the monitor FOR the videos if you've been keeping up. His mom should be grateful and use that. I'm sorry but a full grown woman who sits on a video game console all day to watch movies is what I'd call immature. And I'm 23 years old, btw. Assuming that parents always know more than teenagers and are more mature is utter fail. My 26 year old brother abandoned all three of his girlfriends and children and has been in prison on and off since he was 14. He acts like a 12 year old to this day. I don't think any of his kids should respect him, because he's immature and selfish. Kind of like his mom here.
