I cant stand the game....its so boring....getting money is sooooooooo boring and killing people get repetitive...you have no freedom in free roam
so my question to you guys is if you like the game or not
TheBeast789
It's not a game for everyone and I know how you feel. I really like No More Heroes but Suda 51's last game, Killer 7, also got a lot of praise and I hated it. I would assume this problem will carry on to Suda's other games.
i love the game and i think it's underrated.hotreat
underrated? seriously, that game is the most overrated game Ive heard of
i also thought parts of it were boring, but i love the characters and story. its much like GTA4 for me. parts of it were boring... well actually, almost anything that wasn't a boss fight was meh... but getting to the boss is worth it. In gta4, chasing people in cars was really fustrating and no fun for me but when i get to cutscenes or parts where i can shoot people, then its fun.
[QUOTE="Englando_IV"]How about the bad framerate? The framerate dips considerably in many spots. It's bad in the city as you cited. But it's also drops a lot when many enemies are on screen. When you kill multiple enemies at the same time, it's just plain ridiculous.
Rocky32189
Ridiculously fun =D
i mean cmon, when Travis charges up and those tringles appear by your sword and u slice off the heads off of 3 guys
its so satisfying
After hearing all the bad thign syou guys said I dotn think I wanan get this game anymore...dooksz
You should reconsider, especially since the poll results in this thread show that the majority of people like the game, by a fairly large margin.
Finding every little fault is certainly going to take away from the experience.Lonnie2Hottie
The problem is that you don't need to look for the faults - they're jumping right out at you, taking away from the experience at every turn. If you can overlook the faults, then that's awesome. But for a game to be widely appealing, it needs something for everybody. This game has the styIe and presentation for those who enjoy that kind of thing; but it doesn't have the consistently fun gameplay for those who don't necessarily fall in love with the presentation.
After all that, I'm still undecided about playing it.
Maybe I'll rent it or something.
zeldaluff
You should rent it i love the game but its not for everyone. its like a game parady of other games, anime, and movies. If u dont really end up falling in love with the game it'll be a waste because other then to just play thru the story again the game has no replay value..but its an expernce that everyone who loves games should at least try out
like killer 7, it is a very love it/hate it game. even if u like killer 7, thats no gurantee that ull like no more heros either.
personally i quite enjoyed it. its weird and stupid in places and funny.
i just wish that the devs either did more with the open town and fixed its performance problems or just left it out. in its current stae, it feels like a waste of space imho.
but yeah..overall i thought it was enjoyable.
[QUOTE="VGobbsesser"][QUOTE="Danjoz"] Downer EU and Japan lost the blood. I don't know why Suda decided to drop the violence. .Englando_IV
Actually, from what I've heard, the blood was added to the US version.
I don't think so, the game was designed with the U.S. in mind.
Japanese Government frowns upon the Blood and gore and Decapitations, then for Europe the Publisher of the European version wanted to have the Japanese version just translated because it was right after the Manhunt 2 incident.[QUOTE="Lonnie2Hottie"]Finding every little fault is certainly going to take away from the experience.JordanElek

You don't consider slicing enemies in half, sometimes up to 5 at once, consistently fun gameplay? or cutting off their heads? with them screaming "NO IM STILL A VIRGIN!" or "MY SPLEEN!".

Yes that ALL RIGHT but it doesn't make up for the crappy gameplay, bad graphics, and terrible frame rate

The driving is crappy yes(except the boost on the bike was tight lol), but the combat is great. The Wii desperately needed a sword action game, and no before anyone says it, Zelda:Twilight Princess was not a sword action game. Until Star Wars the force unleashed comes out next month this is the best sword action game the Wii has.
Maybe your Wii just sucks? or your TV lol frame rates are fine when I play it except when you cut off 7 heads at once it slows down a wee bit for .5 seconds. As far as graphics go, 1. its cell shaded and 2. its the Wii lol

The only point you said that i could understand was that it has great combat.......yea the combat was great for the first 10 minutes and then it got so unbearably repetitve.

It's not fun when it's the only thing you do for the entire game. It gets very repetitive. Those phrases you mentioned were funny the first 5 times. I probably heard it thousands of times during the game. You'd think the developers would put more than two phrases in there...

Well my other point was the graphics are bad yes, but it's the wii so what do you expect?
Sometimes repetitiveness is refreashing, they don't bog you down with tutorials on an overly complicated combat system, allowing the player to just pick it up and play. It's a hack n' slash game at it's core and, hack n' slash games are like Vegemite, and Killer7, you ethier like them or you don't.
[QUOTE="Rocky32189"]It's probably the most overrated game I ever played. It has some good aspects but there just so much wrong with the game. How this ever scored higher than Metroid Prime 3 on Gamespot I'll never understand. It's pretty fun at times though.
It's almost as if people look past all the flaws just because it has blood and gore. It's sad really...
Lyphe2k
No, they looks past the the flaws because under all of those flaws, there was a true gem. It was a witty game that was given to us, almost as a present for being a gamer. All of the boss fights were unique and each character was entertaining in their own way. The over the top blood and gore made sure that you were kept interested, despite how repetative it was. The odd jobs were dull, but all the clothes and character upgrades in strenght and hp gave enough incentive to have you go back for some quick cash. There was also loads of collectables throughout the game. From those lovikov balls, to the clothing, to the beam katanas. It was a fun game that didn't take itself seriously, and that's why it's easy to love.
But I could see why you wouldn't like it. I have to agree that the game lacked that final polish.
nicely put. I absolutely love No More Heroes flaws and all. It is one of the few games that I had to play completely through before picking up another game this gen.

Well yea when a game is repetitive then it is simple....but thats not the kind of game i want. And the graphics are worse than most Wii games. Compare it to MP3 and RE4 and TP and SSBB and SMG
It graphics are terrible EVEN for the Wii

No. Not consistently.
That part is fun, yes. But I used the word consistently for a reason. Some of the game involves combat, which is fun. But those fun parts are broken up by incredibly boring, unintuitive tasks that only subtract from the experience. I understand the meaning behind those tasks in that they're making fun of other games, but that doesn't make up for the fact that picking up trash for three minutes is the most boring thing I've done in a Wii game.
To be consistently fun, the game would have to keep us entertained through fun gameplay for the vast majority of the game; that doesn't happen. The city and the jobs break up the game's flow and limit the fun factor for those who must turn to the gameplay for their enjoyment of the game, as I explained before.
Wow....I just finished it, and the ending was just unbelievable. I really hope you all understood most of the the pokes at popular culture, because they actually made my jaw drop. Suda51 has really brought something to gaming I've never seen before.
I agree, the tasks were monotonous and boring, and ALMOST didn't make the game worth playing through, but the boss fights (especially as you progress further) really carry the plot if you allow yourself to analyze what's being said/presented.

I agree with all of this
I second that. I thought No More Heroes was pretty fun, and I liked the mood in the game, it just seemed to like being itself. But yeah, I have no idea how it scored a 9, Prime 3 scored below a 9.5, and Galaxy didn't get a 10, but that's just me :)
The storyline wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be, but the combat system definitely made up for it.
I say 9 out of 10. It's the best third party offering on any Nintendo system since Resident Evil 4, in my opinion.

Exactly
If the game was made by an actual "respected" maker he'd be laughed out of the business. Because it's Suda everyone tries to make excuses for it.
It's a good budget game, a lot of the game is broken and what isn't broken is repeated so often that after the first few missions it gets boring.
It not a good game and certainly not one everyone should play. It's a passable game that makes you have to work to look past it's flaws.

No More Heroes is an awesome game, in my opinion. It may be a bit repetitive and linear but the combat is still awesome. If you don't like it, sell it instead of wasting space on a message board.
Lunar52
No, we do need to tell people that it's not a good game because many people have gone and purchased the game thinking it's good and then find out it's not worth their money.
Everyone hyped this game like no tomorrow and it came up very short.
Some people like it and that's great but you also have members that find it a childish game of wash, rinse, and repeat.

It's always good to have both sides of the coin.
