You got a warranty on that thing? If so, you'll void it if you open it. If not, prepare for the inevitablity of buying a new one. Get a warranty on the new one.
I agree with them, if you have a warrenty, then just play it out and if it craps out on you get a new one, otherwise it doesn't really matter what you do.

my ds has taken a fair bit of punishment and still works great id be suprised if thats really what caused it the ds seems pretty tough I mean what did it land on anyway?
