Ok, so this is the deal. I have an Empoleon Level 45 Nature: Jolly HP: 140 Attack: 94 Defence: 93 SP. ATK: 109 SP DEF: 108 Speed: 91 I migrated and trained pokemon from my emerald, holding 3 rare candies and 3 carbos and traded to my platinum. I tried to give my Empoleon a carbos but it said, It won't have any effect. What does this mean?! I need a short answer or solution not including any numbers or maths or daunting challenges. How do I get its speed higher without a carbos. And No, I haven't used 10 carbos before
If your Pokemon's EVs has maxed out to 510 it won't work so I think your Empoleon may have maxed out EVs. If that's the case there's nothing you can do.
There's another possibility, if you have 100 EVs or more in your speed stat it means you can't use vitamins. You have to EV train, or fighting Pokemon that will raise your speed stat.
ok, so i tried giving it a protein and it raised it attack EV i think. But its speed is still the lowest. So there is absolutley nothing I can do but give it vitamins for all the other stats?
If the protein work but not the carbos it means that your speed EV has either reached more than 100 or maxed out to 255. If it has not reached 255 for your speed, there's a way to raise your speed by EV training with speed EV Pokemon like Zubat or Magikarps, both of which are very common and easy to find. Once it reached 255 your Speed stat can't go higher. And before you raise your other stats let me remind you that once you get a total 510 EVs your Pokemon , it can no longer gain EVs.
EDIT: Okay I did some calculations, your Empoleon has somewhere between 110 to 200 EVs on speed. This is about as accurate as I can get. You can still raise your speed but not much.
