(Please don't call me a nub, I just lurk a lot)
Well, I've played TWEWY for about 10 days or so and it's not awkward I think on the top screen. The top screen character (I can't give you a concrete name, because multiple characters use the top screen) can be used by the CPU who fortunately isn't that stupid. You can set it to how fast it picks up to being auto-controlled, from 3 seconds idle, to almost instant, to keeping it manually all the way. The touch screen can get a little hectic though. The game is a little uncooperative when it comes to what makes a circle, and if you have like a circle-drawing pin, and a drag-objects-around pin, it ends up getting frustrating sometimes. The game has a higher learning curve compared ot some other games but it's not like break-your-DS-in-two kind of frustrating, anyone can get into the game after getting the hang of it.
Not really. It's an option to only use one screen for the battle (and have the other get beat up) for a bonus if you're tired of using one screen or the other.
Trust me, battles get easier as you get more comfortable with the pins. It that point, you can really just focus on the top screen while hurting enemies (without paying attention) on the bottom.
I have this game and I beat it 100%. Amazing game, the battling never gets hectic , you could do what I sometimes do and just constantly pressing left and right on the d-pad and then you just have to focus on the bottom screen and that makes it real easy. BUY THIS GAME! SO amazing, my eyes opened after playing this game and it gave me a new take on the world!
