The main difference between Nintendo this generation and other companies is that it has a unique way of playing games. Next generation I think Microsoft and Sony are going to have some sort of new way to play games as well and Nintendo won't be as unique as it is this generation. thus they will be in trouble. What do you think?

It's not just about what they're offering- If Nintendo is the absolute leader by the end of the gen, they will have huge advantage, unless they screw everything up like Sony.

Not exactly. Nintendo, unlike Sega, Sony, and Microsoft, has been in the black (making profits) since they started as a card company in the 1960s. All of their "failures" such as the Virtual Boy and Super Game Boy were calcuated risks, i.e, they were already leading before they took risks. I see Nintendo pulling off something spectatular, albeit unconventional,in the next generation. Most importantly, the other companies are gonna smack their heads and say, "Why didn't I think of that?" (metaphorically, of course)

Innovation isn't a one-time thing. Wherever innovation sparks, new ideas will flow, and things will improve.

And besides, Nintendo knows how to make things work. Who says Microsoft or Sony will be able to create as amazing experiences as Nintendo has? Look at Sony, their six-axis controls followed the Wii's bluetooth capabilities; but the six-axis of the PS3 is little more than a gimmick, a joke.

Why worry about the next generation? Worry about the next generations of safety, social sercurity, and education. Gaming is going just fine. Now go have fun with your Wii and tell it how much you appreciate it.

No, The ps3 stole motion controll and badly at that. But that system is in last place. Nintendo has nothing to fear with hardcore gamers and casual on their side.

I'm pretty sure that Nintendo is over a 100 years old. I think they started making cards in 1889. Hold on let me try and find a link or something.

Yeah, this link is a summary of Nintendo's history. And if you want, this is a wikipedia link.

I think that Nintendo should fine-tune the Power Glove. It might be one of the worst game peripherals of all time, but think about today's day and age, where technology is much greater.

1.- I guess that you are only one that keeps saying that Sony didnt copy Nintendo.

2.- Nintendo never depend on 3rd party's, they have their own games to survive (n64, GC)

um sony isnt as good as nintendo when it comes to unique ways to play sixaxis already proves this as a fact.... as you cant use a ordinary gAMEPAD to do motion sensing it just doesnt feel right,,, and im sure the hard core gamer would be mad at the fact if sony and ms do this theyll not play it,,,, just like they complain about wii now theyll even more so complain about sony and microsoft as they know little about what nintendo does. hence why 360 fails on you in 6 months and sixaxis motion controls are there just to be there no good use of em has been implemented,, as its hard to do these things with like i said a dual shock shaped controller..

next gen is lots of years away so dont even make topics if you know little to nothing about it... for all we know there may be one or only 2 consoles out next gen i think microsoft and sony is the one in trouble they pushed their system to the limits .. while nintendo choose not to and in stead used new ways to play in both the ds and the wii and it hasnt failed em yet ,,,, so what does this mean for sony / ms some analyst say the next xbox/ps wont come any time soon,,,, can we see a new nintendo maybe in 4 yrs heck ya bc they didnt push graphics they take it one step at a time ,,, you know heres an example

n64 was cartridge format playstation pushed for compact disc

the game cube was nintendos first disc based console excluding japans addons

but it didnt have online as much as ps2 and xbox has,,

3 yrs later nintendo was first to put a hand held online and wii also the first console with online from nintendo that actuallly uses it ...they choose to only update the graphics a tad bit instad of what ps3 360 did ,,,,, this works out as seen with ps2 and ps1 graphics dont make the game it makes it more expensive to develope and what does this mean for 3rd party... well just a week ago konami said mgs 4 has to sell a milllion in a day for them to make profit thats bad right there,,

the wii on the other hand gives developers and nintendo profit day one

and like others said nintendo always comes up with somthing maybe next gen theyll give me what i really wished for a console that plays nes snes n64 gc games all in one as well as the wii now ,,, nintendo almost gave me that in a sense wii can do this but is very limited to the library they put not the libraRY OF GAMES i already own

so who knows could we see a wii 2 with next gens graphics,, thatll suprise us by then prices would be down etc how far do you think technology can go graphics wise... we already have photo realistic graphics today

1.Its was a bit convenient how Sony unveiled their motion sensing controller months after Nintendo, surely you have to admit is was a little on the suspicious side considering their history for pinching ideas. I don't feel like doing "sum research" to prove your point for you but if you have definitive proof please enlighten us.

2.If this generation keeps up like it is for Nintendo I would imagine they would have a lot of third party support, not only will the have had the larger installed user base but they tend to make their hardware easy to develop for since the N64.

Yes you are right the company is 100 years old and started out making cards then soon when Disaney started taking popularity, their first break through to American Market with Mickey Mouse cards and Nintendo was also the one that started Chucky Cheese before the big dispute in court. They were also attack by columbia pictures for saying that Donkey Kong was copied from King Kong but Nintendo had one that case so yea they go way back.

The controller looking the same doesnt mean the motion sensing wasnt stolen... if anything its means that it was more likely stolen and added after the fact

I know it can be scary to think about Nintendo. No matter how well they're doing, it always seems like they're on the brink because they've had a reputation of bringing up the rear ever since Sony got into the game industry (with a console they were originally developing for/with Nintendo, no less).

But the big N knows what it's doing--always has. Like many have said, they've been around forever, and they know how to turn a profit. All the folks that bash Nintendo because of the graphics thing this gen don't understand that Nintendo knows how to innovate, and how to do good business. They put out a console that is only marginally more powerful--graphically--than last gen's consoles, but added a revolutionary control scheme. Original? I don't know. But I do know no one has utilized motion sensing the way Nintendo has. And it worked. Developers can spend less to make games and make more profit because most folks don't care how powerful 360 and PS3 are if the Wii features games that are fun, look good enough and just happen to be cheaper to boot. And more and more I'm hearing people say that the PS3 and 360, for all their features, are a little on the dull side for the simple fact that their games are just better looking versions of last gen's games. I'm not preaching this as gospel, but it's not a farfetched statement. (Not that there's anything wrong with sticking with what works.)

Even when they were in third place with the N64 and GC, they obviously weren't losing much money because they're still here and, given that they are enjoying the most success they've ever had since probably the SNES days, they're not going away. It doesn't matter if their revenue came from consoles or handhelds, the point is they have it. They weren't like Sega, putting out countless pointless consoles like the 32X and Nomad and barely making profit. Nintendo does good business and knows how to keep gaming enjoyable. That's why I stick with them, why millions of others stick with them and why Nintendo is in it for the long haul, no matter how imposing the other guys look.

I love the hate from the PS and XBox followers. Their forums must be too boring for them, so they decideto troll into the Wii forum.

For all of the Wii listeners, Nintendo will be just fine. The next console will have better graphics AND better sensing controls.

I am not going to lie when Nintendo had revealed its controller I was very upset and I thought that Nintendo was going to finally cash their chips in for this gen but I was wrong and I remember telling my brother if Nintendo reveals Smash Brothers at E3 I will get a wii other than that I wouldnt have bought it and soon after that Smash Brothers Brawl was revealed and when I got my wii I was impressed by the motion sensing controller and yea Nintendo been around for 100 years so they know what to do. It is kind of odd that right after Nintendo revealed thier controller a while later Sony reveals this sixasis features to their controller. I remember Sony never mention anything about a motion feature for their controller before Nintendo had revealed theirs.

Nintendo will always have a nice oportunity. Graphics aren't the answer, and they will never be (my point of view).

However, to be honest, I think that Nintendo created the DS and the Wii too early. I would have pushed back both systems for at least one more year. Yet, Nintendo can improve the Wii, the Wii is just the signal of the real beginning.

Next generation Nintendo will have a considerable lead on motion sensing but if they want to get anywhere they HAVE to push the hardware specs. They simpl cannot make such a huge gap again. the fact that motion sensing makes such a difference in games is what is pushing Wii ahead of the competition.

The main difference between Nintendo this generation and other companies is that it has a unique way of playing games. Next generation I think Microsoft and Sony are going to have some sort of new way to play games as well and Nintendo won't be as unique as it is this generation. thus they will be in trouble. What do you think?spiggy500

Its simple

As nintendo this generation are basically rolling in cash, their next investment will have

>Improved motion sensing controls
>Greater Graphical and CPU capabilities

Microsoft and sony will still be 'behind' because increasing gfx and cpu horsepower is a no brainer and only requires money. Intuiative controls on the other hand.... this is where nintendo will look at the wii and use it to improve, eclipsing the others as they just adopt it.

Nintendo is fine next gen. Here's why: They can make the Wii with better graphics. Most people that claim they are gamers only look at the pictures, so with the graphics update they might be able to get over themselves and play some games on a nintendo console. Now look at the others. What can they do? Make motion controls. If they make major graphics improvements they will once again have the most expensive console and flounder once a console with a good price comes out. So they either have to keep the graphics within a good cost limit or push themselves further into the GW niche market. I just don't think there are enough people playing games with that amount of cost to merit two major manufacturers. Anyhow, we are still numerous years away, maybe something during this gen will come around that changes everything yet...

first off nintendo isnt stupid, they know this just as well as you do. The next Xbox and PS will now most likely be more wii like than they would have if the Wii didnt do so well. This is a pretty easily assumed view point. I am sure they have something to trump the other guys.

Second even if they dont have anything special for the next wave of consoles, they will have been making great wii games for years by then and they will be much much more polished and experienced at it than the competition.

Parts and components for the next generation system (after wii) will be cheaper when it's released then it is now. MS and Sony are driving prices down on fast cpu's and video cards and thus Nitendo will be able to make a better system in the price range alotted for their next console. I'd expect HD graphics next time around, and bet that they will have something new and innovative, like a remote version 2 with improved motion sensing, or maybe a way to make true 3D actually pop out of your tv, or a visor, or who knows, bu tit won't disapoint.
