I think the DS needs a new Mario game with a good story and nice graphics.

I bought Mario Party DS less than a week ago, and the screens right before the boss battles make me think that the DS has some real graphical capabilities. It's just not pushing them.

I think a game where you don't have to save Princess Peach but instead be her (or others) and have to save the world or something, having up close cut scenes here and there that advances the story, character depth and character connection would be great.

Hell, I'd be crazy about another Mario RPG that's not the Paper Mario series.

Anyone with me or care to elaborate on this idea?

I can dream....

Possibly? Yes. The problem are memory issues. The DS cards doesn`t have enough memory to handle some ultra last gen graphics through an extensive game..

If you want something that gets close to it, check suikoden tierkreis.

Also there ia DS game that you play as Peach. If i`m not wrong.

Oh, and in my opinion, cut scenes are a cheap way to get the public attention. They could, instead of making cut scenes... use that space to make more features or stages for the game....

I will look into the Suikoden game. Is that for the DS?

Anyway, the game you are thinking of is probably Super Princess Peach. But I'm sure that game's story was lousy. Never played it. However, I didn't mean just Peach. It could involve Mario, and Yoshi and Daisy, and you could switch up between them all and they can all have their own special abilities and stuff. I just think saving Peach all the time has gotten old.

Cutscenes in games can help tell the story. I mean I'm no graphics whore but if the game can handle it and it looks nice, then why not? But I wasn't thinking about how much a DS cart could hold.

Either way, thanks for the input. ;)

Try Mario RPG. It's noto for DS, but it is almost exactly what your describing. You can play with Peach and even Bowser! It's a RPG game though, made for SNES, its just like Paper Mario, but the original. It's really good and I'm pretty sure (correct me if I'm wrong) its coming to Wiiware. And Super Princess Peach was strange.. but still good. She has special abilities based on moods xD and the setting reminds me a lot of Yoshi Island.... Also.. Mario and Luigi PArtners in Time is good, try that.

I mean another RPG game. I've played Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars to death. I eventually sold it and got ripped off but meh. At least I played that fun game. If they made a harder sequel, I would DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIE. :)

I also know the premise of Super Princess Peach, it's just that that's a game I'd rather rent before buying. In fact, I don't intend on buying it at all!

Super Princess Peach is actually a pretty good game. It's a little too easy and it was obviously originally a GBA game, but it's almost as fun as any Mario game.

What?! BLAsPHEMY!!! Nothing is better than a plumber, who can jump very high, and is going to save the princess of the mushroom kingdom from a mutated ninja turtle, who also has an army of turtles and those i-dunno=what named gombas. Try to beat that. >=O

When it's written out like that it actually sounds like a good story, crazy, but good. :P

Thanks for the posts, guys. Keep them coming preferably.

The boss battles and some of the screens in Mario Party DS just got me thinking hard.

I played a little of the original and never got the hype. There weren't enough characters in your party, and the damage dealt was never high.

That's all fine and good, but what we crave is an actual Mario platformer. All Nintendo's made lately is Mario Party, Mario Tennis and the like. There's that one for the wii coming out, but who cares about the wii? (Save little girls and housewives.)

I agree I think the DS needs a Mario game here pretty quickly.
