That is the way it should have been when the console launched. If the console launched with that game bundled, there would have been no stopping it.

You'll have to wait at least next year. Nintendo has no plans to drop the price. Also, there's no need to because it's still selling at 250$. While the PS3 is not selling like it supposed (heck last week in Japan, the PS3 was beaten by the 360 because of Ace Combat.) and it dropped the price. Maybe it's you that is too cheap not Nintendo.

I would still get the console at 250$ with SMG and more games to come.

it's selling out as fast as they can make it and put it in stores so it wouldn't have sold any differently

Totally don't agree with anything you said.

At $250, the Wii is still the number one selling home console, a price drop won't change that, it'll just widen the spread. PS3 didn't have a 'price drop'. Sony just released a cheaper model with a 40 gig hard drive and no backwards compatability to PS2 games to go along with the 80 gig model with 70% backwards compatability.

SSBB will sell millions of copies at $50 a pop, so why would Nintendo bundle such a money making game with the system? That wouldn't make any kind of business sense.

So, you may not buy one until the imaginary day when Nintendo does your bidding, but millions of other people will, and Nintendo will continue to win the console war this time around.

Sony did not want to drop the price they were forced to or they would take the chance of going under while the Wii is selling strong so no need for a drop any time soon. They are not being greedy at all Sony is taking a loss with every console sold, while Nintendo is making a small profit how is that greedy?

Nintendo isn't being greedy; you're being cheap. And there's nothing wrong with that. If $300 for a Wii and a game is too much for you, that's fine, but it's very unlikely that Nintendo will cut the Wii's price when it's still selling so well.

Not gonna happen anytime soon, sorry. Demand is still very high, and supplies are very low.

You mentioned that PS3 has "over $200 in price cuts". That's because PS3 sales have been so dismalthat Sony's getting desperate.

The PS3 dropped its price because it was expensive as hell. The Wii is still the cheapest system, and with SMG on it in 5 days, there's really little the others can do. They're already losing money when they sell a console, while Nintendo's profits are soaring. If Nintendo keeps making money, they can keep making awesome first party titles like SMG.

PS: if SMG was at launch, it wouldn't have been nearly as polished as it is.

WTF? They can't even make enough systems now to meet demand. The only thing "stopping" it right now is the sheer limit of factories to produce the thing. They are making 1.8 million consoles a month and selling out.

I see why they wont cut the price, but it's still a dirty-greedy choice. As much as Mario Galaxy makes me feel warm and loved inside, I refuse to get a Wii until it goes down at least $100. *waits patiently and glares at Nintendo*

Dude, Nintendo is not being greedy. You should think before you post. It's already the cheapest next-gen home console on the market. Satoru Iwata (Nintendo president) was already quoted saying that there would be no price cut. Actually he said:

"We're absolutely not considering a price cut,"

See whole article HERE

So yeah sorry dude. Also, there's no way Nintendo would do a price cut AND bundle the console with one of their biggest first party/flagship titles. If you haven't noticed, these companies only tend to bundle games after they've been on the shelves for a while. But if your thinking their gonna do it on the day it comes out, sorry to say it but your'e dreaming buddy. The only reason why Sony cut the price of the PS3 was because no one was buying it, and they need to make money during the Holiday season.

The reason those other consoles dropped in price is because they weren't selling.

You have NOTHING to complain about, MILLIONS have been sold, and we've all managed. $250 is a GREAT deal!

lol good luck with that.

The Wii is priced correctly. Hell you even get a free game with it. Even without wii sports a $250 is justified.

All the rave reviews of Galaxy are declaring it a revolution for the platforming genre. Gametrailers even went as far as to say the platforming genre was dying and Galaxy re-awakened it.

Matroid Prime 3 brought a revoultion to FPS controls on home consoles.

WiiSports has revolutionized the casual market like no home console ever before. When was the last time so many people had stories of their entire families playing a home console game together, even grandma and grandpa?

Seems to me the revoultion is happening, but you still have your eyes closed.

Wow good luck with that package man. The Wii is next to impossible to find as it is, they are not going to bundle one of the biggest holiday releases with the system and drop the price by $50.00. Nintendo is not being greedy, you are being cheap.

250 is a great price for Wii and since they keep selling out within minutes of shelftime there will be absolutely NO price drop. Are you too cheap to pay that? its nothing compared to the the other 2 next gen systems and its bundled with a free game! Mario Galaxy is brand new, its a Mario game for christ sakes and they allready give you Wii sports! You want a Wii with Wii sports and Mario Galaxy with a 50 dollar price cut that is so stupid. Its like paying us for Mario Galaxy, and itll never happen. I cant believe there are still people who have the nerve to complain about the Wii's price its next gen with a new controll scheme with a Nunchuck, Classic Controller, Guitar, Balance Mat, Zapper(with a free game), and Wheel. It offers so much for so little and 10 dollar less for NEW games. That is so selfish and cheap to act that way i think it would be perfectly exceptable if the Wii costed 300 dollars but no they gave us a game and still didnt add the 50 dollars. The Japs had to buy it for 50 dollars extra! so our Wii console by itself is 50 dollars less than theirs with a game. Be happy with this gift of a console they made with all these controll options for such a cheap price and drop the nerve to ask for a price drop and a 2nd free NEW game!!!!!!!

There's no chance they would (or should) drop the price of the Wii. They're practically selling out at their current price, and the supposed holiday shortage is approaching. If anything, the price should rise in the short term to a new market-clearing price to avoid hitting a Wii system shortage.

Woh now, lets not assume I'm blind because I don't think the new lock-on system in MP3 is a revolution in gaming. And for the record that last paragraph is my signature and generally unrelated to this thread. Wii Sports has revolutionized nothing, it certainly appeals to casual gamers, but that means nothing outside of the fact that it is acessasable.

And to all the people that somehow still believe $250 is a good deal: you blow my mind! A new version of the 360 is being released at $270, TWENTY DOLLARS more then the Wii. That is good price for hardware. I'm all for the new controls, but that is hardly expensive technology and it is added on to a slightly beefed up GC. We know this.

On top of that, the prices for other consoles have gone down with production costs, just like every generation before. That's what technology prices do. To still charge so much for technology that was out of date to begin with is greedy, I understand how they can get away with it so easily, but it's greedy none-the-less. Nintendo has money coming out their ears at the moment, they don't need to charge %90 the price for hardware that is %20 as powerful. So guys, I know you love your Wii's and they can be a lot of fun. But please PLEASE don't kid yourselves that Nintendo are giving their customers a deal by packaging a budget game with the system.

as all consoles go, everything will drop. Hardware gets cheaper, consoles get cheaper. The Wii's Hardware is about ~$250 and nintendo is only getting a very small portion of it. Xbox is taking a price drop because it has gained enough profit. PS3 is suffering a hardware downgrade. So stop making a complaint about these things. GC droppped to $50 because the hardware making up the GC went down, same goes with all previous generation consoles

Umm, exactly. Every other console get's its price cut, and most others through the last 6 years (that are/were cutting edge tech instead of 4 years old)have had their price cut by this point in their lifespan. So why is Nintendo being a jerk about it? They overcharge because they can.

They charge that price because it's acceptable. Like I said earlier: if there's truly a shortage of Wii systems approaching, look for an increase in price. Nintendo probably won't do it, but they could if they wanted.

They're not being jerks about it. Nintendo, believe it or not, is a company. Their job is to keep their shareholders happy first, not the outlying disgruntled consumer.

How's this for a solution then:

Don't buy it?

I don't know why you're still posting in this thread. You're only embarassing yourself. There are millions of people around the world that own this console, and your the first person I've seen complaining about the price. Think about it this way, the PS2 a console that is 7 years old. It is still selling for AUD$199 (US$184) Yet your asking for a price drop on a console that is barely a year old? What's more, you want a 1st party game, (that hasnt even been released) to come with it too? You are DREAMING dude.

As for the controller thing, here's the real crime. Sony selling their SIXAXIS controller for $79. What's wrong with that you ask? It's basically the DUAL SHOCK with some inferior motion sensing capabilities tacked on at the last minute of the PS3's development. So why should PS3 owners have to pay AUD$79 (US$73) for a controller design that is 7 years old? What about, releasing games that can be finished in one day and selling them for AUD$110 ($US101)? Now that's a crime. How many more times do other people in this thread have to tell you?

Xbox 360 got a price cut because it's been out longer than the Wii & PS3 + it has also achieved substaintial sales

Sony hs been forced to drop the price of the PS3 despite it only being out for the same less than a year. This is because, (as you have been told several times) it was not selling.

I dont understand how you are unable to get all this thorugh you're head. No wonder the other posters are getting irritated.

Why should they lower the price? The Wii is the new "hot cake".

Wow a system wars topic! Hopefully I get this in before it locks up... First, X360 and PS3 have had price drops because it just wasn't feesible to keep their price point with the Wii kicking their butts. They needed a comparitive price because no one was looking at their console at $400+ anymore. The X360 has come close now price wise, but if I'm not mistaken it doesn't come with the HD or anything else that makes it an X360 anymore right? Sorry, I am mistaken, you can still get X-Live. Second, anyone that thinks any console has 'new technology' needs to try PC gaming for a year or two. Everything on a console is 'old'. That's why they can now package it for under $500. Consoles have convienence, stability (sometimes), compatibility, and price point, but definately not new technology. Third, with the Wii nearing it's second christmas sellout season a price drop is not happening. Something will happen next year, probably after SSBB has been out a couple of months to get some more quick console sales. If you can wait that long. Power to you.
