If Link had a Personality

He would be like.

1. Like he is now without one just making faces and doesn't say anything.

2. Like Dante Where he mocks his enemy's first and is a bit of an outlaw and complete badass that shots first and asks questions later.

3. Like that bad TV series "Excuse me princess"

4. Like Cloud.

5. Like Shadow " Stab his momma in the back for a nickel"

6. Make one up with options and choices as you go along.

7. Like Squall

8. Like Arthus

9. Like Illidan

10. Like Vergil

Mh just throwing this out there What do you think his personality would be like if they give him one in the next Zelda game? personally I'm going with 2 I've always seen him as a wise cracker that plays by his own rules and I actually think they're very similar already.

No, it's a choice. I'm glad they're not trying to turn Zelda games into some mediocre manga-like drama.

As for silent characters, the main character of GTA III was also insanely popular due to the sole fact he was mute. It contributes to mystery.

Im gunna have to disagree.For what i see hes not really all that shy he is modest but other than the not talking and the strange clothes hes not really socail awkward. Hes very selfless and it makes him brave. Hes also not the smartest person around.

Knowing Nintendo you're probably right sad but true.

Twilight Princess already marks the most personable Link in the series. They not only have motion capture in the actual cutscenes, but he has more facial expressions than WW Link did.

Link should not have a personality and the 1st post is a perfect example why. Let's say, for example, that flapjean expects Link to be personality "A" and I expect Link to be personality "B". If Nintendo decided to give Link personality "A", I would be disappointed. On the other hand, If Link was given personality "B", I would be happy but flapjean would be disappointed. That's what makes Link such a great character to play as. You, as the player, have the freedom to portray Link in whatever manner you see him. You are not confined to seeing him portrayed with the personality the developers think he should have.

On a second note, this also explains why Link should remain mute. I'm all for supporting full voice work for every other NPC you come across, but it would be extremely hard to give him a voice without defining his personality.
