As sakuranoame has already said, yes it will work for you. On a side note and for future refrence, ALL Nintendo handhelds have ALWAYS been region free. Right from day one with the orginal Game Boy. There is no reason to think that they will ever change that business model on their handhelds. Their home consoles are of course the complete opposite of this and they will fight tooth and nail to make sure region locks stay in.

Now having said that, there have been some 3rd party DS titles that wont work if the language setting different from the games country of orgin. for example a japanese game not working on a DS while the language is set to english. I'm not reall sure which titles (there was a list I saw a few months back online, so a google would flesh it out), but they were mainly japanese RPG titles that used the internal language system of the DS as their own sort of region lock. On top of it, there were only three or four of them.

So really all you need to remember for any Nintendo hand held is you can buy what ever version of the game you want. Oh and if you are doing a combo game with the Wii and the DS (like Pokemon Diamond/Pearl and Pokemon Arena) you still wont have any issues with a different game pak on the DS. Just remember that you will have to have the correct region disk for your Wii in that case.
