When I want to play the Wii or buy a new game for it, I'm scared cause some people are always judging. I also feel like playing some GCN games but I'm scared since I have an HDTV, it may look bad and everyone will say how bad it looks. Are there any like "portable screens" so I don't have to play my Wii on a 32" screen?

I invite no one in my home except for cousins and friends who DON'T make fun of a console. We like and play all consoles. Less on the Wii though. lol Its my uncles that bother me.

But about a portable screen... why not buy a cheap SD tv to play your Wii on. But i have to ask did you buy the component cables for the little white box? or are you playing with the cables that came with it?

Yeah, games shouldn't matter, but maybe other things. Like for instance body odour. Pay attention to that man, you don't want people thinking you stink(seriously, I hate stinky people). But either way, I have a 52" Sony Bravia and it looks fine. Its not HDMI or anything but yeah. Anyways, if you're inviting your friends over to play games, no one cares much when its multiplayer.

i don't let it affect my decisions or the games I buy, but I'm a little embarassed to own a Wii now. It didn't use to be like that. In the beginning, it was still really new and exciting, the ps3 had nothing on it, and there was a steady stream of really good, high profile games coming out every month.
Now, it's just old news. If I bring up a wii game to people, I almost always get that judgemental look.
I'm a 15 yr old wii gamer in a 360 school and some people respect the wii for about 5 games thats it but then i point out the ring of death and they are quite till tommorow
I think the Wii looks great on my 42" and I'm a video snob (ever since I got a blu-ray player I try to avoid watching anything on old fashioned DVDs). The people that are complaining are just dumb. I do believe they make portable screens though, just expect to pay a good amount.

Here's my bit: Screw friendship. Abandon friendship if you must. I left my local friends because they thought Wii sucks. Friendship is only for random people across the forums who want to challenge/ co-op with you on a software title. Real friends only get in the way even when its unintentional, and they hold you back from doing exactly what you want to do. Nintendo is a better substitute than real friendship. Am I making myself clear or is the perspective of thinking beyond that of which you would like to perceive?
I have the same problem, my friend has a 360 and a good gaming PC and he HATES the wii. I guess he just doesnt go for games not rated M for gore and violence. I play wii every chance I get. Be loud and proud about owning a wii. that is what i do.
PS: the wii is the most fun gaming system i have ever played on, it is more immersive and I love that about a system, so again, be proud to own and play wii.

Actually, I feel a bit dorky looking at the WIi shelf these days. At least I only buy the good games (or so I think)... My brother and firends both have 360s, but they never pay me out about the Wii. So I think the differences between console camps is often exaggerated. So I think, "who benefits if console users take sides?"...

A Wii is manlier than an Xbox because it attracts the ladies. As a guy, I'm VERY interested in having nice conversation pieces and little bits of interesting things around the den with which to entertain any lady friends or guests. My guy friends can game in their own homes - I don't really care about their gaming habits.
Of course, even if it were pink and attracted no one else, the Wii is still a kickass platform. Any home console that allows me to blast Zombies and Necromorphs with built-in light gun functionality is a good console in my books.

Dude, don't worry about that, I'm sure 10 years ago (if your age assumption of them being 30 is right), you may have walked in on them playing with their "Wii". Don't worry about them. They're just mad that they don't have one and they see you having fun and it irks them to their core.
