... butwill NHL 08 come out for it?

Nintendo needs to make a regular controller for the Wii so that 3rd party companies can make GOOD games for the system.Nick11478
umm no?
alright alright...no.
The Wiimote/nunchuck combo is a fine controller and the driving force to the wii's innovation and success. Ditching it or even allowing it to co-exist with a dual-analog controller on the wii would be pointless.

I also believe that the Wiimote/Nunchuck is one of the most innovative things any video game company has ever come up with. Revolutionary no doubt. Before I state my next thought I would like to say that I love Mario games. But that is all I see Nintendo coming out with. They need a new franchise of games, nothing has changed with their games since 1985.
I had a launch Wii. I was thinking that EA would come out with some amazing NHL 08 game, but they just flat out didn't even try. Nintendo needs to make a regular controller for the Wii so that 3rd party companies can make GOOD games for the system. I recently sold my Wii to buy a 360, and the 360 version of NHL 08 is so much fun.Nick11478
They managed Madden effectively with the controls, so I doubt that the controls are what's holding them back.
Also, they have a bloody regular controller. It's called the classic. However it's an accessory controller, and as such is unlikely to ever receive more than optional support from developers.

Dude seriously... You honestly think they are going to produce a fantastic game with the classic controller. I don't know what developer would want to use it.
I'm not gonna sit here and be all "must defend the big N" with ya since the Wii is the first Nintendo system I've ever owned. We're both in agreement that the controller is awesome but you tend to think that a more conventional controller would have opened up the doors for quicker 3rd party support whereas I tend to think that the current controller has allowed for more INTERESTING 3rd party support.
Zack & Wiki is a good example. It's a great 3rd party title that couldn't be done on another system nearly as well as it has on the wii due to the good use of the controller. The Rayman Raving Rabbids games also are superior on the wii due to the good use of the motion controls. I'll give you one last 3rd party title that takes the wiimote and makes a fun game out of it: Mercury Meltdown Revolution. Yes, I know it's a port of a PSP game but if you've played both versions you'll realize that the game is enhanced by a good margin due to the addition of the motion controls allowed by the wiimote.
It may not be the NHL 08 that you wanted but it's definitely a taste of something different. And variety is the spice of life...to be cliche about it ;)

You asked for a regular controller. The classic is a regular controller. It has only two less buttons than a 360 controller. (or the exact same number, counting the secondary function of the triggers)

Those 3rd party titles that you listed just aren't my taste of games. I mean if that's your taste, then by all means go and buy a 360. Don't listen to us ranting and raving about it's flaws and what not.

Why would I buy another system when I already own one that caters to my tastes in a new and interesting way?

I meant to say that to the original poster. And I didn't mean to put 360 I meant Wii. "Wow I need to lay off the Peyote" Reece Bobby.
oic. It's all so clear to me now...
To my credit for not being one sided, I use my PC for gaming as well and all the games I'd play for 360 are being released for PC so I get both worlds. Like I told a friend of my when he told me to get an xbox: "I can troubleshoot a BSOD, not an RROD"

You think Sports games or FPS changed since the 90s.
As for the controller for the 3rd party, it's the classic controller you ask.

That's why I'm also a PC gamer. The 360 is still useless. The 360 games are mostly ported on PC. However, I'm sick of shooters, sports and sandbox games (so probably 85%-90% of the library of the 360). I'll play on Spore and Starcraft 2 when they'll come.

You seem uncertain.
The devs can use the classic controller (or GC controller) if they think that that game won't work with Wii controls. Like Brawl.[QUOTE="ThePlothole"][QUOTE="Nick11478"]I had a launch Wii. I agree with you that developers wouldn't (don't) use the classic controller too extensively; but that's just because most people don't have it and the wiimote + nunchuck are perfectly fine for almost every "standard" game (and not using any motion functionality kinda beats the point of making it a wii game). However, considering you're the one who asked for a regular controller, I don't get your point... that's exactly what it is, and a pretty good one at that. (Though btw - MLB Power Pro's is apparently a great game and better played with the classic controller or gamecube controller, which it supports.)
And to the first poster - I have a wii and love it. However, If you want a system for EA's sports games - you'd better look elsewhere, considering EA complete lack of willingness to bring their wii games to even PS2 level, let alone try to do anything innovative.
The classic controller is terrible.
If you play Donkey Kong Country or Super Mario World on the Wii using the classic controller and then play Donkey Kong Country or Super Mario World on a Super Nintendo you will see just how bad it is.

Fredrick2003x
that may be true but I haven't played those games on the old systems so I'd have no basis for comparison. For someone new to them, they probably wouldn't know any different.
Although, I have played a good amount of Genesis games in the past and there's not really any controller currently for the Wii that does the 3 or 6 button genesis pads justice so it's the same story on the other side of the coin.
