I agree. Sony has a great online service and it's free. Microsoft has an amazing online service and it's only $50 a year. There is no excuse except for their own laziness and cheapness.
Nintendo is the most stubborn and greediest gaming company by far. Not only are they overcharging for the their system (instead of selling at a loss like everyone else), they refuse to provide a decent online service, theyre-release their hardware and software tons times, and refuse to give gamers what they beg for like a hard drive for the Wii or DVD playback.
Although I love Nintendo for all the great games they develop/publish and all the amazing idea they bring to the industry, the company has me pulling out my hair do to their stubborness. This is in part why I refuse to buy only Nintendo products from now on. I've owned every Sony system thus far and plan to pick up the PS3 when the 80GB version releases. Nintendo's attempt to provide a comprehensive online service and experience for hardcore gamers is laughable.
And I bet all of you defending Nintendo's online have never played online with the 360, PS3, or even the PSP. If you had you'd realize how horrible of a job Nintendo is doing.

Now, I can totally go with Nintendo being stubborn beyond belief. It took them this long to implement ANY online, and I agree that this online is lackluster to say the least. Sony's is the much better free service, and the 360's is awesome for only 50 bucks. I can go with Nintendo being lazy when it comes to it, even if it is thier first foray, in the home consoles market, into the "online world." But, maybe it was the way you phrased it, but I almost laughed when you said they are the greediest gaming company. First of all, games is all they have, while MS and Sony can rely on thier other divisions to pull them through if they take a gigantic loss. But, further more, it's like you think MS and Sony priced thier consoles to be nice to the consumer. Yea right, they priced it at the highest point they could possibly think, and see if the public thought it was worth it. Sony screwed up, and that's why they lowered the price...for a little while anyhow.
When it comes down to it, all three of them are out to make as much money as possible, and just because Nintendo isn't taking a loss on each console it's selling, doesn't mean they are greedy. It simple tells us all that they know how much we are willing to pay for the Wii, which happens to be more than what they cost. Most people in the buisness world would call that "good buisness."
I would take any bet to say the at heart, Sony and MS would LOVE to be selling a system they would be making profit on each one they sold.
But, back to topic, Nintendo has a long way to go to get thier online up to snuff, even for a free one. And by the way, for all the people who seem to think that people who don't like FC's, is because they are not smart enough to handle them...really needs to expirence something called "convenience."
