I realize that I may be alone i this, but this article has me worried about the experience I'll have playing MP3. Still some good stuff in there, but the good doesn't outweigh the bad for me.

http://www.infendo.com/2007/04/what-we-know-so-far-about-metroid-prime.html

Highlights:

New hunters: An early demo showcased assistance from another hunter. The developers say we will see even more new hunters in the finished product.

Multiplayer: Reportedly "not in the same context as Echoes," which really could mean anything. The popularity of Metroid Prime Hunters on DS would lead us to believe that they will include online multiplayer.

Full voice acting: A first in the Metroid series, helping to further immerse the player in a more cinematic experience.

New hunters? Assistance? Not in the same way as Echoes? To me this is screaming "Co-op". If I had to deal with multiplayer, I thought it'd be online-battle stuff, which would still be fun. But in my honest opinion, co-op play instead is taking it too far. I really like the idea of being alone in the game. Not taking orders n' crap. I thought Samus was a bounty hunter who took jobs for the Galactic Federation; I didn't know she was a part of it. They're trying to turn Metroid into Halo, and I'm uncomfortable with that.

As for voice-acting, the game is more immersive when I can think my own thoughts, not what the main character says. That's one of the reasons why I like Link being quiet.

Of course, that's just MY opinion.

Well, remember the wii is trying to appeal to all gamers.  For Metroid fans like me, we don't really have to play co-op because the thought of playing it alone is so much better.

This doesn't necessarily mean co-op. Just maybe AI assistance in some parts, and multiple characters.

I think that this means you might have some federation troops working with you ... i think that its a fairly bad idea but won't ruin the whole expirience... i think... :)

No, not Co-op.. The other hunters will just aid you in battles now and then, like in the Demo when the Ice Hunter helped out Samus by destroying Enemy Ships...

it's allready showed part of the game, and when they say full voice acting they mean ppl talk to you, not the other way round also yeah samus has been a lone bounty hunter, but in this one there will be a distinct feeling of not being alone near the beginning as we've seen that there is a war at hand when she first lands somehow tho I also have the distinct feeling that with her corrupt side, it may end that... for both sides anyway, I played the multiplayer in echoes once... maybe twice, it was rubbish! so I never played again, why can't you do that too?

My only real worry is the voice acting, but we all knew that would be inevitable. I have the same feelings against that, as I do for the Zelda series, but it is coming.

In terms of gameplay, and a great experience in the single player as well as multiplayer? Who the heck really thinks Nintendo is gonna let this one get screwed up? Seriously people. Quit the sky is falling stuff, and just wait for it. Retro looks like they had the game all but done before all the multiplayer talk came up, so I seriously doubt they are gonna mess with the single player experience and do something goofy like rebuild it.

Why are people so against online or co-op? I say, don't select it in the menu, and you can keep on enjoying those blue sky days you are having. If I play a million online deathmatch games against other people, how is that gonna affect you in the single player mode?

Nothing but Chicken Littles running around here!

I think no matter what N does to Metroid it will be fun. If you are worried that the formula is changing consider that it used to be a 2d scroller. A multiplayer on the Wii sounds like fun and what better way than to have a Metroid multiplayer maybe even with a co-op mode.

i highly doubt co-op, its just not how teh series works. sure it would be really cool, but i will be utterly surprised if they have it. As for voice acting i dont think samus will be saying anything, just the people around her. Tehy couldnt give her a voice becuz a standard would be set forever and nothing could be left for the players (us) mind.

I think this delay could mean anything, i personally hope it is an online multiplayer, or that the single player is going to be 300 hours and be so kicka$$ that i will quit school and buy a samus suit, as of right now no one knows and all we can do is speculate.

Voice acting from Samus = no-no. Control-wise, the game is just fine, so don't worry about that (i played it last September). I still don't think this game will ever top the original Prime. Nothing will.

I agree.  On my personal list of the best games of all time, it's in my top 3, and arguably the best.  I know that could unleash a firestorm of criticism, but it's my fav.

I hope it does top it! Though I know how you feel... it will be a hard thing to do, but that's what they're aiming for. Hence the delay. But I wouldn't be worrying too much guys... It will be a different experience altogether, but it's nothing to be scared of. As good as Prime 1 was, I wouldn't want 3 to be exactly like it. Plus, the voice acting of the game doesn't mean that Samus will talk (as stated earlier), and it could just mean that they're taking a different approach to story telling.

Co-op can only enhance a game, not make it worst. Its for ppl that want to play it. I think its a great idea, and it wont ruin the Metriod feel at all.

Metroid was in need of some modernized upgrades. Too much scanning and single player is simply not enough anymore. One of the earlier posters said it was becoming too much like Halo. While I dont like Halo (I do love Gears), it wouldnt hurt the franchise to allow more players to engage in the experience and play together. Multiplayer is necessary and an underlying attraction of the Wii

They're trying to turn Metroid into Halo, and I'm uncomfortable with that.

what's wrong with them turning it into Halo? If Halo was for the Wii, it would be amazing.

They're not turning Metroid into Halo (thankfully), I downloaded the video of the entire E3 demo and the Federation troops are only with you for about five minutes before they all get killed by space ships crashing into the ship you're on. And do you really think the inclusion of voice acting is ripping off Halo?

halo is really boring.  dont even compare metroid to it.  i hope to god they dont try to make it like halo.

im sure theyll have the 1 player mode of the first couple metroid prime + more plus the fun multiplayer of hunters.  there most likely wont be co op unless its co op like castlevania POR
