I tried making this topic on the General Games discussion, but for some reason it wouldn't allow me to create a poll :?:

Two rules...

1- You need to have played ALL of them to keep it fair

2- If you don't like Zelda, then get outta here!

Two other things... (optional)

1- Explain your choice if you want

2- 'Try' and get nostalgia out of the way

Recently finished TP and though it was amazing. I have a feeling that MM/TP will be last in this poll, but who knows.

Ugh, I can't choose between WW/OOT and TP. Don't get me wrong, I think MM easily deserves a 9/10.

It's between TP and WW for me.

TP is basically a perfection of the formula established in OOT, but WW did something different entirely. I'd like to vote for WW for old times sake, but objectively I have to admit that TP is superior.

I would say OoT, but TP improved on it in most areas. So I would say TP, but it is a little too similar to OoT to really be the best.

OOT easily. I actually replayed three of them recently to see which I liked the best and it's still OOT by far. I think I had the least fun playing TP actually. WW was much more fresh and original than TP. I didn't replay MM, but I've never been too big a fan of it.

really hard choice for me. i think Tp was the closest to what i want from a zelda game so i voted for it. OOt and MM were also great, but TP imporved on OOT in almost everything, and MM was a little too short for my taste. so TP it is.

Zelda has not had an 'epic feel' since OOT. I also love the way the story was told and presented. When I first played OOT, I really felt immersed in it. I haven't felt that way for a Zelda game since then. I still enjoy Zelda in general, but not the way I enjoyed OOT.

Probably for the same reason why I can't comprehend why anyone would see an 8.9/8.8 out of ten as a "low score." I think most will agree that TP is a great game, but whether or not it's the kind of game that defines the series, genre, or systems it was on is another topic. I can personally think of a few things that justifies GS' score, but I won't get into that. Not now. :P

Anyways, my vote goes for Wind Waker. It's easily the freshest game in the series since OoT in terms of not only looks, but also game design. The stealthy bits, the fluid combating and animations, the ability to play with other characters at certain points... it was a Zelda game that wasn't too wrapped up with trying to uphold precisely to expecations, but become a standout experience in its own distinctive ways. The overall charm of the game also goes with what I think Nintendo does best; it was a game that didn't take itself too seriously, and the Disney-like presentation at times made such an impression at times, and you could get a connection to Link and the other characters in a good way.

All of them are amazing and close to eachother in terms of scores (my personaly scores), but I go with OoT. Here is my reasoning why:

OoT - Perfect :). The game has the amazing music, best "story" and characters, with tons to do, but all of it is fun. It has challenges but not too much unless you search for those (extra things). The game has nice towns with a good atmosphere that is happy, until things get dark which makes the sad mood set in much more dramatically.

MM - a bit more cluttered and the overall story is not as good as OoT, but it is unique and amazing, just not quite as memorable as OoT, which makes it slightly less amazing then the perfection that is OoT

WW - The leap they took paid off, as the game is very fresh. That being said The boating just is not as fun as the horse. They could have done better to make searching for treasure more fun, and for fast traveling to be a bit easier and such. I like the ocean, but it was not as well excecuted as it could have been. Also the game is the easiest 3D one, which is a negative thing for me.

TP - Too dark too often. A dark mood doesnt feel so important when it is dark all the time. There is no good town. The zora, goron and so on towns are practically nonexistant, and the main castle town is very boring and although large, feels small as it has little to do in it. There is no songs to remember and play that really have added to all the 3D zelda games thus far.

I like them all of course but Twilight Princess was my favorite. I had the most fun with it and I loved the hyrule field song. OoT was my least favorite of the bunch although I still love that game and am looking forward to the remake.

As far as the 3D Zeldas go, OoT wins handily. MM and WW are tied for second. WW's unfinished dungeons knock it down a peg, and MM had some issues, but both are still among my favorite games ever. TP wasn't quite up to that level.

I think I like OOT the best. OOT was the most perfect. Twilight Princess focused more on Dungeons and Boss Fights than the overworld. WW is the opposite. OOT I think is the perfect balance of the 2.

Buuuut. Then you have MM. Which I think is amazing as it's own game. As time goes on, MM is probably the Zelda that has aged the best.

I'm not going to decide.

In "content", it does seem dumb down. But from a technical stand point, TP is superior in nearly every category. From graphics to gameplay, TP technically trumps OoT.... But I'd still choose OoT over TP even with its advantages. OoT had better Dungeon designs (IMO), characters were more memorable (IMO), hell a lot better reward system (IMO. Come on. Fairy Tears for completing that hell known as cave of ordeals?), and better Hyrule layout (IMO. TP Hyrule was HUGE, but felt pretty empty compared to OoT world. Kakariko was bigger in TP than OoT, but seem to had lesser citizens. Hyrule city was probably 3 times bigger in TP, yet again, had lesser citizens to interact with it seemed. I mean, it showed a lot of people, but most of them you couldn't really talk to....). They could have made some areas in TP smaller which they could have used left-over space for more characters to talk to, new areas (Like the woods in TP previous trailers that they decided to leave out), a new race or clan to interact with (The Ooccoo didn't seem that important other than replacing Cucco usefulness of gliding in the sky temple. And the citizens of twilight didn't serve much purpose besides just showing that there are citizens of the twilight realm...), and/or more items to play with....

I love Zelda because of the adventure, but what I particular like is the side-quests. Which Marjora's Mask had the most of (collecting all of the masks etc.).

So because of that among other reasons, I vote Majora's Mask.

Followed by... I dunno. Seriously it's so hard to decide. Maybe... MM>WW>OoT>TP. But in saying that, it's a very close gap between each one!

Get someone who has never played a Zelda game before, give that person Ocarina of Time and then Twilight Princess. Then ask that person which one of the two was better. I guarantee you that most are going to say Twilight Princess.

If someone has to play a game first to find it better, then it is not quality that is deciding one's opinion, but nostalgia.

Yeah most people who think Ocarina of Time was such an amazing game and that nothing else will ever top it probably played OoT as there first Zelda game. As someone who's played the series from the beginning I think ALTTP is the best Zelda and am more unbiased about the 3D ones which I think have gotten better with each installment. OoT was amazing for it's time but it has been surpassed by other action adventure games (such as Okami) and definitely by other Zelda games. I'm not arguing that its not a great game though and I still play it at least once ever few years.

Everything is layed out for you in Twilight Princess, thus making it too simple. In OoT you had to find everything without much help. That's why people would like Twilight better...... Games this generation are too simple.

I found it surprising when I compared A Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time and realized how similar their stories are... I'm curious if those who complain about how similar Twilight Princess is to Ocarina of Time are aware of the fact that the latter basically completely ripped off its predecessor in terms of story. :P

That's a... rather subjective justification for why Ocarina of Time is better.

I'm not arguing that its not a great game though and I still play it at least once ever few years.GabuEx

I found it surprising when I compared A Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time and realized how similar their stories are... I'm curious if those who complain about how similar Twilight Princess is to Ocarina of Time are aware of the fact that the latter basically completely ripped off its predecessor in terms of story. :P

Everything is layed out for you in Twilight Princess, thus making it too simple. In OoT you had to find everything without much help. That's why people would like Twilight better...... Games this generation are too simple.bobdood99

That's a... rather subjective justification for why Ocarina of Time is better.

I don't know about your, but I'd rather have a game where I have to engage my brain and try to figure things out. I was never stuck once in Twilight Princess.

Really? Because I seem to recall in OoT a little fairy (Navi, I believe it was called) who would interrupt every five minutes to tell you exactly where you were supposed to go next. Quite a helpful little fairy if you ask me. Maybe you're confusing OoT with the original Legend of Zelda for NES. Now there was a game that made you find everything without any help.

Anyway, I voted Majora's Mask.
