Internet channel... was supposed to be free....

What???!!!???  I just got the update saying the new and improved intenet chanel will only be free to use THROUGH june 2007.  Pevious releases said that it would be free to users who downloaded it before june 2007.  Are they gonna start charging for it???? Is online gaming goning to free???? What does this mean?

*sigh* It just means that it is free to download before June. After June, if you don't have it, then you will have to pay $5 for it.  Once you have it, it is yours for free and for good.  If you get it after June, then that's a one time $5 fee, nothing more nothing less.  From my understanding playing games online is supposed to be a free service from Nintendo.

Anyway IMO it's pretty lame to make people pay for the browser...

true, I don't see the point in making ppl pay for it at that time, but Opera wants to make money off it, so nintendo has to find some way to do that and this is the best way for them.

The simple solution too all your problems here is.............. go download it just now or before June 31st and your not paying a penny, thereafter it's gonna cost 500 Wii points to download. But it doesn't cost to use the browser; just to download.

Pay for it yeah but only 500 Wii points, I don't use it browsing the web either that's why I have a PC, but it's the novelty use of it that'll make people do it + we'll need it for on-line gaming.

No we won't need it to play on-line, but I could gurantee  that when all the on-line games are released there will be some sort of deal where if you connect to such and such a website through your Wii and register your friend code you get blah blah you know what I mean? I just think we'd benefit from having the browser that's all.

Reread the damn thing. Nintendo and Opera have both said once you download it by a certain date it is yours to keep for free.

 Download it after that date and it is a vc purchase. It doesn't have a fee to use per month.

 Opera btw isn't a free browser on mobile devices. Most browser services cost money.

I feel for the US, because it really does seem some people can't read and comprehend.  It is free to those of us that download it before June 30.  Our gift for beta testing it, and providing feedback.

You say it's ONLY 500 points, but that in turn comes to at least 1000, because you have to buy at least a $10 card (minimum). I mean, i don't care, because I already have it, but I think Nintendo should implement some sort of system where you buy just how many points you need, because if I only want one game that costs 500 points, why should I have to buy 1000 and have an extra 500 that I'll never use?timmillah

it is, it just means that you can download it for free until june, so if you do it today it's free but in july it will cost you $5. So do it now, that's all it means.
