I was online on my Wii today and was trying to find a web messneger that works and, I DID!!

Typing anything out on the Wii internet channel is tedious... I can't even imagine how long it would take to type messages to a friend.

they should just release a wii channel with a chat room where u can talk to wii friends or somethin'.

Yeah a channel for the Wii that you can buy a keyboard for, that would be better.

I must say that without a keyboard, there isn't really much functionality. It just takes too long to say things with the wii-mote. We could also use a chat channel for some form of instant messaging with wii friends, but again, useless without a keyboard.

for AIM I use www.airaim.com but you could also try www.meebo.com (have not tested)

Yeah, that's what I've been using for the past few months, and it works pretty well! I'm gonna have to check out this new one the TC posted though... I'm pretty sure Nintendo will make a Wiiboard (keyboard for wii, haha, get it? yeah I'm done...) because people seem to be in pretty high demand for one.
