Mario already has a voice.
Link should never have a voice.
Samus I'm not too fussed about
hazbazz
i mean, having all of them start to talk in english, in full sentences
Nope, no reason at all for now
In the latest Metroid there's talking except for Samus and in all the Nintendo titles you can have the other characters talk while having the main one silent.
I go back to Grand Theft Auto 3 and how many people thing that it was the best acted one of the series because it left the player to give his/her own personality to the main character. As the series has gone on they've qadded voice acting for the main character and that's taken something away from the game and it's true open enededness.
Nintendo's policy is perfect and leaves a bit of user created reaction to the games. In each game we see a reaction but we never know the exact reaction, the user makes up the rest in their mind of how they see it happen. I doubt they'll ever take that away from the user.
The games are deeper without voices.
Mario already has a voice. He never gives any long soliloquies or anything, but he still has a voice and occasionally speaks words or full sentences. He and everyone else in the Mushroom Kingdom had full speech in one of those Phillip CD-i games, but those aren't considered canon as every game on that system was a complete hunk of crap.
Zelda and Samus, I think, should never speak, simply because it would break the brains of all the Nintendo fanboys across the globe. There would be riots, fires, pillaging, and all sorts of bad stuff. Honestly, though, if those two actually got voices I have a feeling no one would like them and Nintendo would be blamed for "forgetting their core audience", which in some ways might be true.
Samus might be passable, but seriously...do you really want to hear Link talk?
Oh, and Link, Zelda, and Ganon had voices in the Phillip CD-i game, and they were horrible.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO.....noJonDohJerseyexactly because they could be horrible and ruin the game

Yea and that had nothing to do with Nintendo so that arguement fails. Zelda games need voice acting. That doesnt mean Link needs to talk but would it be nice if all the other supposrting characters did.

I was actually thinking about that a while ago; a Zelda game where there was voice acting (good voice acting) except for Link. One of the reasons why Link doesn't talk is because he's supposed to be a "link" between the player and the game, and each player has their own individual voice, obviously. That doesn't mean that all the NPCs have to be silent though. I think that would work, and should be considered when developing the next major installment.
As long as they got Zelda's and Ganondorf's voice just perfect, I'd be all for the NPCs talking.
Zelda games should have voices in them, but Link should never talk. He already has a voice, btw.
"Heee-yah!" (jump strike)
"H-yah!" (kicking his horse)
"Wuh-h?" (confused)
"Yeeeeeee-ah!" (falling)
"A-a" (happy confirmation)
...along with other bumps and grunts
One of the best parts of the zelda/metroid/mario games is the fact that they don't talk. If they talked, it would make the player feel more like a spectator instead of being in the action. The fact that these character's personalities are not fully developed and they don't have voices makes them more relative to the player. They're heroes controled by the player....
Besides, haven't you ever seen that crappy Zelda game for that no name system? They gave link a voice and made a cartoon out of it....IT SUCKED!
Mario has a voice, Charles Martinet has been Mario for years. I really think thats enough of a voice. Mario is a game that really doesn't need more than simplistic voice samples. Save for some of the RPGs, but thats something for a later date.
I wholeheartedly believe that LoZ characters should have voices, but have the line drawn at Link. With a series as text heavy as Zelda, voice acting would be a definite plus. But Link is you, if you want him to vocally interact with the screen you should talk to your TV.
Samus talks, she's talked in Super Metroid and Fusion, her lack of speech is chalked up to solitude, she's got stuff to say, but hardly anyone to ever say it to. But, it would have to be someone who could pull the roll off the right way, personally, I'd like the voice actress for Motoko in Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex english dub. That was always the kind of tough feminine voice I'd imagined for Samus.
Samus would fit having a voice. She already HAS a voice. Just hasn't been used. Mario doesn't need to speak, the games play perfectly fine without it and anyone who says otherwise only wants him to speak because characters in other games do. :P Same with Link. He's not even the same person in every game, nor is his name technically "Link." So really, you'd have to find a different voice actor every time. It's not worth it, and I have no problems reading.CaptainDingoAgreed. They could have a voice for Samus but itd have to be awesome, innorder for em to pull it off.
Seeing the previews of Metroid Prime 3, and noticing how the game is now fully voice acted, (except Samus?), is it time for mario, link, (and samus?) to get voices of their own?remmbermytitans
YEA! Nintendo should add VO to their games. Retro has done a good job with MP3. I would like Link to finally talk already.
to the ppl that want voice acting in zelda how would they they would have to have some kind of data bank with every single name imaginable for when they say ur name Keenzach
Some guy with a book of names just recording every single name and the recording every single sentence of the game's script to incorporate every name imagineable. LOL.
to the person who wantd voice acting for loz just play those cd-i games ur gonna regret putting that votedark_mask_91
no one said we must used that same actor. Of course that guy didnt fit Link's character.

yea thats true but nintendo is in too deep to put voice acting its just gonna seem weirdFor lack ofan "all other characters but Link, Mario, and Samus" option, I chose the first one. I think that in games where we follow the lead protagonist through an epic quest should only have voice acting for subordinate characters(and I wouldbe just fine if no one had a voice), but in games, such as Mario Party and Mario Kart, the current short clips of voices that they have are just fine (except for Daisy's, they really need to fix her voice; it's so annoying).
the all already do have voices ... even samus .. listen closely to there games samus whever she gets hurt makes that like half moaning sound an voice is born! link when he spins or jumps. angry moan voice is born!
an mario common do u really want more then.. ITS'A ME MARIO you cant mess lol
if you watch the first video they released on the MP 3: Corruption channel, the woman you hear saying all the corrupted stuff is Jennifer Hale, who does Samus's grunts and screams and stuff.
In my opinion, having Jennifer Hale voice Samus is a perfect fit.
(for those who don't know who Hale is she did the voice of Sheena on Tales of Symphonia)
I think Samus should DEF have a voice. Esp after playing Metorid Fusion, i feel that samus actually has a lot to say and that she could project it very well with a good strong voice. (but not too strong)

And i agree with the fact that Jennifer Hale's voice would suit samus very well. In fact when i first saw that trailer i thought it was samus talking and it fit very well and i was excited...
