Ive been thinking of buying one for a long time now mostly for Pokemon ( my guilty plleasure) but I wonder is it too late its been a while since DS was released and I wonder is it still in its prime or on the decline? Is there a new nintendo Portable console in develop ment in the next 1-2 years or what? Also I just got a Wii and was wondering if there is gonna be a away you can play DS games on it like pansion like with the GC And info/opinions would be appreciated .

The DS Lite has only been out for a year.

They can't keep them in stores right now, Nintendo is 3 years away from a new handheld in the stores.

The DS is still fairly young. I wouldn't expect a new portable from nintendo for at least another 3 years or so.

The DS will be great no matter what year it is.

The possiblities and the games it has will stay with it until they're whiped off the face of the earth.

well since the wii is doing the whole Ds-wii compatibility thing its gonna be obvious that it'll still be making games for it.

is it too late to buy a ds?

hellllllllz no!

how long was the GB out? the GBC? GBA?
DS is hardly out, and its destroying the comtetition (ds lite is the fastest selling system ever,
so says guinnes)
console dont go in and out that fast, they stay around a while... especially when they are doing this
good.
even if nintendo did want to pull it for some insane reason they would at least wait untill the psp has
been fully crushed!
a great catalog of games already... mario kart, advance wars, pokemon... and more on the way too,
with zelda and worms

do yourself a favor and buy it. youll still be playing it when nintendo does have a new handheld out :P

I think now is the best time to buy a ds. There's so many great games out right now that would keep you occupied for months.

From the pattern of Nintendo's marketing strategies, they release a portable counterpart to their console versions at every "generation" of video games.  Take the Gameboy and the Super Nintendo, the Gameboy Color and the N64, the GBA and the Gamecube, and now the Nintendo DS / DSLite with the Nintendo Wii.  I highly doubt they'd dare release another portable nintendo console anytime soon, especially due to the sheer sales figures for the DSLite, which isn't declining anytime soon.

I suspect that if they are to release a new "GameBoy" or a new "DS", it'd be most likely for the next generation nintendo console after the Wii/Xbox360/PS3 era.

NO way is it too late. In fact, pretty much all my friends just got it last month. Even if they do stop making games in a year or two, they are so many good ones released already that will last you a very long time.

The DS is as a fresh as a breeze. Don't worry about it getting old, because it won't for at least 2-3 years.

Besides, it's never too late to buy a gaming system if you want to play an exclusive game.

Considering the enormous selection of future releases and the already awesome and not too old current library it is certainly not too late.

There's never been a better time to buy a DS. It's still young, lots more games will be made for it, but also, it's been out for long enough that you know it's not going to flop all of a sudden(and you won't have the games yoou want for it...).

I think we won't see a new Nintendo hndheld system for at least 3 more years, so go on, buy the damn thing, you won't regret it.
