I just saw some videos and it looks so similar in its gameplay. But unlike EO, it looks like it has a better story to it that's more interesting and not just a dungeon crawling game.

It looks very cool! I never got into past SMT games but this one looks unique and something I'd check out.

I wonder if it's the same developers who made Etrian Odyssey. It looks similar.

no, im pretty sure it's not the same dev. SMT is the main rpg series of Atlus, and is considered one of the three major JRPGs in Japan (along with FF and DQ). if you want to get into MegaTen, i would suggest playing Persona series first then getting into more hardcore ones. But if you liked etrian odyssey, i think you can handle this one no probs actually.

Far from it. It's a SRPG, resembling Final Fantasy Tactics and Disgaea, but with groups of 3 monsters/characters instead of single units. And different mechanics, of course.

isn't that Devil Survivor? Strange Journey is supposed to be a dungeon crawler, supposedly.

They are both first-person dungeon crawlers and they run on the same engine but besides that there are significant differences.

I'll be sure to pick this up. I kind of wish we'd get a sequel to Devil Survivor someday. It's the only grid-based SRPG I've ever really enjoyed. Considering Atlus' current choice of systems we might even get a surprise announcement of Persona 5 on the DS, you never know.
