Is there an echo is here? Yeah, it's good, just not nearly as good as the other two. I remember buying The Thousand Year Door when it came out just so I could pass the time til Metroid Prime 2 (at this point I had never played the original) and I had little to no expectations for the game. I was blown away. It was absolutely amazing, and was everything I could ever hope for in an RPG. So naturally, I was pretty excited for the third, Super Paper mario. After expectations like the ones I had, I was kinda dissapointed. It's not so much that it's a hybrid platformer/rpg, it's that it has messed up pacing. Like it only meant to be one of them, and had an identity crisis. As an example, the opening scene is, like, 45 minutes of text. Then you play for about five minutes and then you're faced with another wall of text. rinse and repeat. Because the combat was all active, it didn't take nearly as long to get through the levels. So it felt really weird to run and jump through a level really quickly only to be thrown into a 30 text-fest. I'd still say get it, though, it's fun the first time through.
I really enjoyed this game, although I prefer the gameplay style of the previous two Paper Mario games.
This game is loaded with redundant text, which is my only gripe with it. It's probably the first game I don't bother reading everything word by word; I'll often skim the messages. Other than that, I enjoy the faster pace (once you get by the text) of Super Paper Mario. Puzzles seemed to be more fun, too, though they're pretty easy if you've played the previous games and Zelda games.

The puzzles are harder than Tp for sure though.
I would rent it, not buy it. It's a fun game, but the replay value is limited to a few not-too-tough sidequests.mcobb9
Yeah, it would take me a year or more for me to want to play it all the way through again. But there are a lot of thing s to do after you finish. Collecttripton and piccolo, pit of 100 trails flipside and flopside, the 100 person duel thing,300 cards to collect, 50 recipies to obtain, 30 maps to get and find the treasure. ect
