Why would you be embarrassed? I play mine when I go out shopping with my family and get bored hanging out in the dressing room. i am 24 and a girl. I think the only one who was embarrassed was my little sister:)

I'm senior year high school, and everyone (yes, I mean everyone) in our year has a DS. There are about 400 of us and we always play DS in class and on cold days where you can't go outside. Who cares? As long as you're not playing Nintendogs or some virtual dating thing, I think you're good.

It's probably because 3/4 of the games on this and the Wii are "casual" (aka kids/family) and not aimed at some of us hardcore players. The closest we have is Mario, Zelda, Metroid, and Pokemon. (which I still think is for kids)

^ don't feel bad about it. Play what you want to play and don't listen to us who say "play games that are T and up" crap. i play E, E+10, T games and have no qualms about what I bring along to play. (three of my games are war games anyway....)

People tend to associate Nintendo DSs with children since parents usually buy these handhelds for there kids along with toonish games. But let us think realistic, Nintendo what make the most are toonish games for all the ages, Microsoft and Sony do things a little bit more adultish sooo, we adults have different choices but kids only have one with a lot of games, Nintendo or another with a few expensive (expensive console aswell) games. In my personal opinion if I had a kid, I would buy him Nintendo.

Kids tend to be the ones with handhelds since they're usually just tagging along with their parents on trips all the time and thus have plenty of time to play games outside of the house. When you're an adult though you don't get car rides to enjoy your gaming since you're the one driving. And once you're at your destination you've usually got business to attend to that doesn't let you game either (unless you feel like wasting time). I'm 22 and I own a DS but I rarely use it. It's something that usually only gets used on a plane or bus.

Also, if you're worried about being considered a kid then you still are one.

I'm 22 and have 2 other friends that are over 20 and the main game we play when we get together is Mario Kart DS, so no. The DS also has stuff like Contra, GTA, Ninja gaiden, and Castelvania.

Like, look at Dementium. If that sort of thing is made with kids in mind, what is mature games again?

Actually the ds also has Phoenix Wright, Trauma Center, Metroid, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, Castlevania, Call of Duty, GTA CTW, and The World Ends with You. Also it has many others (but not big enough to get named) that are designed to be played through by an age much older than just the little kid crowd.

I think a better question would be are you playing it for the right reasons? I don't take my DS out in the middle of a boring college class, but I'll gladly take it out and screw around on it at my friends' house.

In all honesty though, are there really any "Manly" video games out there? Come on. They're video games people. If you play Call of Duty over Mario, it doesn't make you more manly, regardless of how awesome you think you are.

haha no. Me and my friends are 17/18 years and they have DS's. Various people in our school have DS's. I know of one of our teachers (around his 40's) and he has a DS.

i would say its mainly for female pre-teens but then again i cant speak for everyone, the DS has its perks and some amazing titles for kids and adults alike such as KH 358 and Devil Summoner, but mostly its something like our old gen gameboy colors that were passed around during recess on the kindergarten playground, they still have their value but theyre vastly popular with the undermined gaming culture...Truthfully though for teens like us DS is more for friendly battle with Pokemon games and such :D

Ok I'm clearly the old man here. I'm in my 40s and I love my DS because, to me, it seemed like the GROWN-UP video game system, with things like MY SPANISH COACH, Scrabble and lots of MIND games (although I confess, the CALL OF DUTY games are still my favorites).

I'm 20 now and i've had my DS since i was 17 and i love it, i love the games and it really brings entertainment on the run. I've had a gameboy since i was 5 and i just couldn't say no when i saw all the great games for the DS/i and the online capabilities, it's really a sweet little slick system. Well i'm the only one who has a DS of my friends so i feel that it's a little childish but i really love my Mario games mario kart fifa 09 and now big bang mini. The only one i know from my family is my cousin and his 11 lol.

Uh, I wouldn't say mainly, but some of it's games are targeted towards kids. That's doesn't mean the games are bad in anyway. Hell, I've played Nintendogs and it's not a bad game at all. Just because it's made for kids doesn't mean adults can't play it and still have fun. Also, a lot of people in my high school have DS's, nothing to be embarrassed about.

Super Robot Taisen Endless Frontier...

That game is definately not for kids. Unless you want to turn them into Shin-chan.

Neither is Valkeyrie Profile.Castlevania. Grand theft auto. Tramua Center. Final Fantasy (to a certain extent).

I'd have to say yes due to its games, HOWEVER some of the games are way to complex and good for a child to play let alone understand a good example would be Hotel Dusk which is just a great game! It kinda' is but its also not, Its like the Wii its not just for children or adults its meant for both (Its a two player or more console) Its boring when you play on you're own and I guess its in a way the same with a DS... its hard to say really. The DS Can be played by all and any however unlike the Wii the selection of games are probably less appealing to more adults thus the DS is played by a lot of children. Meah.

The DS isn't exclusively for kids. Some of the games (i.e. licensed games, 'casual' games, etc) are aimed at kids, but there's also plenty of all-ages or even mature games availible for it.

The closest we have is Mario, Zelda, Metroid, and Pokemon. (which I still think is for kids)tjoeb123

On a side note, I hope you're not calling any of those franchises kid-franchises. Sure, they can be played by kids just as well as mature audiences, but they're not kid franchises.

I'd agree with you on the first three (especially Metroid) but you have to be kidding when you say that Pokemon isn't a kids' franchise. If Pokemon isn't aimed at kids then nothing is.

Its not. I'm 19 I play mine all the time. Its actually different for me, I usually see older business women playing with their DS's on the subway.
