Is the Wii Mario Kart so bad?

I have read lots of negative things about mario kart wii and i assumed it was true. I recently had the pleasure of playing MKWii at a friends and although the power-ups seemed a bit WOAH! having a good lead on the pack still got you a first so i had to question what i had read about non skill elements. I played online and this was flawless and again i felt that if i raced well i got placed and if i raced badly i came last regardless of which power-ups i picked up.

What do you the think having actualy played the game versus the media opinion?

the items in this game will make you so pissed off that you'll wish you never bought it.

Having played the game is under any circumstance more important than the media opinion. They all parrot eachother anyway. I actually think it was a lot worse in Double Dash, but I hardly read anything about item overload in the reviews on that game.

You know...the items can be turned off you really, really dislike them.

Anyway, if you liked previous Mario Kart games, you will enjoy this one. My only warning is that it, like most other Mario titles, is a party game. Don't bother getting it for the Single Player.

Haha... This is funny to me because it's the funniest part for me and my friends.... We call that item AIDS.

So when someone gets it they scream AIDS and we all start freakin out, trying to get away and not let him give us AIDS.

the game scored 80-85 on most sites how is this a bad score for the game? the whole this game sucks if it doesn't score a 90 or above stuff is silly and outrageous at the same time.

Mario Kart is a great game that any self-respecting Nintendo fan should get. The variety of tracks, great roster of characters, (except Diddy Kong and Baby Daisy), kart diversity and inclusion of bikes make this a solid Mario Kart title. But if you are prone to frustration, you might want to think twice about getting this game. Expect to get hit with a red shell, blue shell, etc. on the last lap, and finish in 12th place, costing you a trip to your local Gamestop to replace the damaged Wii Remote and wheel you threw at the wall. I'm going to sound like everyone else when I say this, but it's true. The items are unbalanced, and the the Pow block is the worst offender. When I play V.S mode, I set the Items to Strategic, which helps a little, but instead gives the CPU's deadly aim with Green shells. When you do get hit by an item, it slows you down greatly, which will set you back a good 3 or 4 places. It is also slower paced, partly due to my latter complaint. It's sluggish in speed when compared to Mario Kart Double Dash, (my favorite in the series) which I don't like. Well, enough of my ranting. If you can see past all of this, you'll find that the good outweighs the bad, leaving you with a great Wii game.Neo737

No, not really.
