lol ur joking right?
zelda is perfect
miyamoto won't turn it into a fps or rts or something, it would suck
but it would be like saying is the halo formula becoming too tedious
halo won't work without being an fps/3ps
or final fantasy working not like an RPG
Might I remind you that Zelda has a lot of different formulas, but some of them are indeed tedious.
Minish Cap, Ocarina of Time, A Link to the Past, Twilight Princess and a couple from Windwaker all have the exact same formula.
Link's Awakening, Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages share the same formula as well.
But some formulas such as Majora's Mask and most of Windwaker's are original and have only been used once thus far... unless Phantom Hourglass copied from one never played it. But anyways, some are tedious and some I think would be nice to use once again.
Make every temple water temple OOT caliber :P, but seriously, the game needs to be much much much much harder.
I remember my bro was pissed how he did not die once in TP.
They need to find a way to tinker with it a little but keep it the same at the core.
Because now the game has become *cool, I got a new weapon in this dungeon...now I wonder how I use it to beat the boss here.*
I would like it so that the dungeons build up off of each other -IE rather than specializing with one weapon, as the game goes on, the puzzles require you to use all of them.
I'd also like the puzzles to be better disguised. I kinda chuckled when my other bro and I were confused by tha lizard in the sky temple, and then I realized his shield was a hook shot thingy, and felt stupid...
How's Minish Cap in the same catagory as Oot, ALttP, and TP? There's no Ganon or Master sword in that game. I see what you're saying, but I'm not talking about story wise I'm talking about gameplay wise. I said the whole master sword 20 times killing Ganon thing to humor you guys.YoePoeJoe
because the structure of the dungeons was the same. You go in and find the map, the compass, and the boss key. You must also find some keys to get access to doors. Somewhere along the way is a mini boss and a new item to discover. You must beat the mini boss and use the new item you encounter for the rest of the dungeon until you get to the room of where the boss lies. You use the item you got in the dungeon to defeat the boss. Afterwards, you retrieve what you're looking for and go out and find the next dungeon.
As I said before, OoT, ALttP, MC, TP, and a couple from WW all have this exact formula.

Maybe I'm wrong, but don't they do that in every Zelda temple/dungeon?
God. Yes. It's horribly redundant.
How can they change it though? That's the real question.

I agree how they can change it is the real question. IMO the best zelda's are the ones who took a major twist. The one's like Majora's Mask and Wind Waker, where you have new gameplay mechanics, or just new styles to make everything seem fresh.
TP was incredibly there were to many similarities to OoT and LTTP. Oh look the same 3 dungeons with the same basic elements in (forest, fire, water) in a row... where have I seen that???? Oh look a dark/light world system where I turn into another animal.....
Majora's mask had the unquie mask system, and wind waker had the ocean thing going for it.
I'm promising myself I won't go full out rant on this because if I don't do this I will.
I want the game to have a darker story more along the lines of an antihero type Link (in a similar fashion as to Jak 2). You know make him a hero but not a pure "I'm perfect" type hero a darker "will kill this guy if its for the bigger picture" type Link.
also some new items and puzzle types
Well maybe they could make a zelda game with a brand new formula for once. perhaps no temples/dungeons/castles/whatever, this time around? :)Jdog30
Or they can use Japanese lore, or a wolf, or the ability to paint attacks onto the screen.
Yes, you're always the same anonying kid saving the same princess from the same Ganon with the same old boomerang. This series has been beaten to death.DurhamsterNo,in twighlight princess your boomerang is different.

Oh sorry I didn't notice Nintendo's poor attempt at adding something new to the series.:P

Yes, I'm for that. I actually made a fan storyline on here a while ago after TP where Link is in his late 30-40's and a lot grittier and less boyish in appearance. If we see an older Link in a series I think that dark aspect would be a lot more likely.
I have faith in Nintendo. (Shigeru Miyamoto)
I think the next Zelda will much different but won't abandon the things we've come to love about Zelda games.
They could give the Story line a twist like they tried to do with TP but it didnt work out so well. Since Ganon Zelda and Link are all part of the trifoce and most of the games have an internal threat to the trifoce like Ganon trying to take over the power of the other 2 they could have an external threat like some outside force trying to take the Triforce and have link zelda and ganon team up to take on the external enemy...of course it would have to end with Ganon being the big bad anyway but it would be a nice change
Or a story where Ganon isnt this creapy old dude but is the same age as Link maybe have them even grow up as friends then something tragic happens and ganon goes bad link goes good and it could be about the contrast between a hero and villian and how the arent many differinces between the 2...i dunno i think it would be better then just taking the tones of the other ones and making them darker....cause thats what they did with Prince of Perisa and he came out like an annoying agast filled Teenager id hate the same to happen to link
I think the game is perfect, come on guys Twilight Princess to me may have been as close to passing my Favorite Zelda game (A Link to the Past) than any other Zelda game.
If you ask me the only problem with Zelda now is its to easy, but other than that I don't see any major problem. Even that is not a major problem to me cause even though its easy some times I still love how they come up with ways to beat the bosses. I think Midna is the best Zelda character other than the main ones like Link, Zelda, Ganon etc.. of any other Zelda game.
But TP had
Fantastic Music: CHECK
Fantastic Gameplay: CHECK
Fun Story Line: CHECK
Loveable/Deep Characters: (MIDNA) CHECK
and hey with the new one we are supposed to see some "Dramatic" changes no?
Kinda,
TP seemed like it was trying to copy OoT but by contrast, Majora's Mask and Wind Waker were both original and exceptional. In Majora's Mask I thought that the mask gameplay was exceptional and I loved the ability to transform to different creatures. In Wind Waker the dungeons and story was pretty original ( I especially liked the dungeon were you go in with a partner.) What am I saying? I'm saying that it is possible to add innovation without messing with the formula.
The Series does need a change in my opinion but what kind? Should the game get a complete overhaul or just change the gameplay up some. Like kingqaz said Majora's Mask and Wind Waker did change up the game play but I think the Next Zelda needs even more of a shakeup than those games did.
God. Yes. It's horribly redundant.

The truth is there.
It's just endlessly repeating itself right now. But to change the formula is to change Zelda. Wind Waker tried but with little luck, in the end aside from the sea, we were stillplaying the same game.
I think that Zelda more than anything needs an epic story. One that is not overly complicated (see MGS2 or FFIX/FFVIII endings for an idea of what NOT to do) but at the same time much more developed and deep than the current ones. The best in this way was OoT up until now.
To me, I would love the zelda series more if you created your character instead of link... Or even a new zelda where it takes place in the sky and the MC has wings and he fights in the air... [like an angel.] THAT would be cool. Kurezan
You just perfectly described Kid Icarus.

I think by formula he means, start as a nobody, someone asks you to do a magical task, Ganon does something to Zelda, you get Master Sword, kill Ganon, every dungeon is the same idea, get the new item, use the new item to get to the boss, kill boss by looking for weakspots, there will be 3 weakspots. Not like change the entire genre...
Lol, every Nintendo formula is getting old, its always the same, althought Metroid shaked it up a bit.JohnnySN1P3R
Really? Mario Galaxy had the Gravity thing, Fire emblem had you fighting your own units and the new animal crossing is having a city area. Boberman had the costom chracter thing and Sonic brang back the old ways before sonic became 3d. Do i need to name more?
