I'll tell you one thing,

as far as the "magic" goes nothing is capable of beating Ocarina of Time,

for me is the best game in the series.

But, I would say for, my opinion may differ from those from nintendo and you guys.

Zelda does need the "magic" done again. Don't get me wrong I did loved Wind Waker with that cell shaded graphics but Twilight Princess somehow lacked. I'm expecting some major gameplay, lvl and dungeon complexity and more challenge, the other games are really very easy.

I think they should make the next game bring the split timeline theory of the series back together. They could do some cool stuff there like Link meeting a version of himself. That even opens up gameplay for co-op. Ya, wow, I just thought of that.-Wheels-

Yes, that's also a good idea. I thought of it myself too actually. All the generations of link coming together to face a common enemy. It would have have all the Links after the events of their games or else it could have some major plot holes in the Zelda universe. I don't know how that would work with the different art designs though. Toon Link next to TP Link makes Toon Link look like a retarded paper cut out wanna be.

I'm playing through Twilight Princess again, and I'm having a blast. Although it's bugging me how you have to collect the tears, I think a few aspects of the game should've been used more frequently. Like for instance, the scene when Colin is kidnapped or the part where you have to protect the carriage from swarming baddies on boars. Even the scene in the forbidden city remains as one of my favorites.

Frankly, maybe if Nintendo would shift focus on dungeon crawling, and put in more of these challenges, Zelda would stay fresh. I know it's blasphemous since at its heart, Zelda has always been a dungeon crawler, but there's nothing wrong with changing the formulaa little bit.

"The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Future" anyone? I think its a great idea! The future is all dark and gritty because there was no Link to save it from the evil Ganadorf because Zelda sent him back to live his childhood. While Ganandorf was busy ruling and destroying the world he stumbled upon a time portal that took him to the future!

I smell epic win.

Make every temple water temple OOT caliber :P, but seriously, the game needs to be much much much much harder.

I remember my bro was pissed how he did not die once in TP.

They need to find a way to tinker with it a little but keep it the same at the core.

Because now the game has become *cool, I got a new weapon in this dungeon...now I wonder how I use it to beat the boss here.*

I would like it so that the dungeons build up off of each other -IE rather than specializing with one weapon, as the game goes on, the puzzles require you to use all of them.

I'd also like the puzzles to be better disguised. I kinda chuckled when my other bro and I were confused by tha lizard in the sky temple, and then I realized his shield was a hook shot thingy, and felt stupid...

jsquared0905

you read my mind this is what i was thinking when i was playing the dungeons...you use the claw shot ONLY i lakebed temple and so forth its starting to piss me off.

I'm promising myself I won't go full out rant on this because if I don't do this I will.

I want the game to have a darker story more along the lines of an antihero type Link (in a similar fashion as to Jak 2). You know make him a hero but not a pure "I'm perfect" type hero a darker "will kill this guy if its for the bigger picture" type Link.

also some new items and puzzle types

YoePoeJoe

Yes, I'm for that. I actually made a fan storyline on here a while ago after TP where Link is in his late 30-40's and a lot grittier and less boyish in appearance. If we see an older Link in a series I think that dark aspect would be a lot more likely.

Hmmm, maybe giving Link a drastic change that goes deeper than aesthetics would work out. I think that an older Link would be pretty neat actually, I mean, it seemed to work out fairly well for Solid Snake. :P

Maybe even make the series focus on a different character. I know, they sort of do that thing for each game; it's like a different kid becoming the hero of the Try-Force, but really make that main character less, I don't know, Link-like.

the biggest problem with Zelda lately is that they've increased the size of the environments, without really changing the amount of content available.

the worlds have gotten much larger since the NES/SNES days, but all that it means is that it takes longer to get places. there's not much more to do, really. so while with a Link to the Past nearly every screen held something important to discover, in the newer games you could run for 5 - 10 minutes without anything notable happening. how much empty space did they have in Phantom Hourglass, for example? ridiculous.

i think that needs to change.

and i'm a little tired of the boat idea. it wasn't all that good the first time they tried it, it's still not good. i hope we never see it again.

overall i still love the games and look forward to each one, but it could use some tweaking.

Nope, I'm one of the few people who can just play a game in the series 20 times and not get bored of it. I'm guessing part of this is because I rarely replay games.

I voted teh third choice, like mosts.

The dungeons are getting way to repetitive. The only two dungeons that stick out in my mind from Twilight Princess were the Water dungeon and the Sky Temple, but maybe that was because those two were the most annoying.

The weapons need to be an over-haul, quickly. How about the ability to maybe upgrade our weapons, or make certain weapons better against certain enemies? How about later in the game we get bomb pellets to shoot out of the sling-shot, or stronger armor?

Plus, using the same weapons in all the games is getting repetitive too.

The Zelda formula needs a breath of fresh air, even though I loved Twilight Princess.

I wouldn't mind if the next Zelda was just more of the same as long as it doesn't copy TP. TP isn't bad, it just feel's kind of bland compared to some Zelda game's. I would love it if they somhow made a REAL sequel to Majora's Mask though.

For starters, a Hyrule the size of the Forbidden Lands in Shadow of the Colossus would be awesome.

Also, I hope they have a large variety of actions. Suppose you have the clawshot equiped and iron boots on and you knock an enemy into the air. It would be cool if the game lets you use the properties of your equipment (increased reach and weight) to latch on to the enemy and drag it back with the clawshot for more thrashing.

And it's my dream to have and Indiana Jones-esch rail car chase in a Fire Temple.

Yep, but this has been acknowledged by the developement team and such. The next Zelda is supposed to be the most different in the series.

The third choice as in minimal changes. I really don't think big changes are possible for any series because when this happens you have a spinoff, not a main series game. I mean, what was so great about OOT? I think it's biggest thing was that it was the first 3D Zelda (also the reason I credit for why things like SM64 and SF64 are considered the best), but it did add some other things and I did like it. You're all just never happy. You act this way to seem cool, like you could do better or are better than the game. Are Halo 3, MGS4, GTA4, Soul Caliber IV big formula changers? I'm a Ninty guy so I don't know and I'm not saying these games are bad but I doubt they have ginormous changes. Geez, you perpetual complainers bother me so much! ZOMG! What am I trying to do, change the intarnats? I feel like I wasted my time. Oh, maybe I can use an old saying: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Honestly after following the series since I was a young, it isn't not one bit tedious to me, I love it more and more as new installments come out. If there were any changes then, Mr. Miyamoto and the rest of the crew at Nintendo will surely make it a masterpiece like the rest.

miyamoto won't turn it into a fps or rts or something, it would suck

*cough* Link's Crossbow Training *cough*

That was an arcade-style shmup mini-game to promote the Wii Zapper. Doesn't count.

that's an awful idea...there are ways to change up the game without changing the characters. Link should always be Link, but put him some new adventures with some new gameplay ideas. I know TP was repitative but had great dungeon layouts with some inspired puzzles, especially the sky dungeon.

LoZ definitely needs some changes, but Link's personality isn't the answer...IMO

I think its getting a bit old, but last time that nintendo changed the story, you guys complained about how much of a radical change it was (majoras mask).

However, I think windwaker had the right idea, twilight princess too, a bit.

I think they should throw in some real multiplayer, like 4 swords only 3D. They should have a multi player adventure, where one player's Link, and the other is Zelda.
