Dungeon Explorer is probably the best example...
Then there's also Justice League Heros (if its anything like the console versions), Contact, Children of Mana, and Phantasy Star Zero is coming...

Also try Deep Labyrinth, Mystery Dungeon: SHiren the Wanderer - both are cheap and are about as close to an Action-RPG you are going to get with the DS
FFCC: Ring of Fates.
I actually told my brother that its Diablo for DS minus gore, skill tree and online multiplayer but its still good.
Echo's of Time is going to fix the online multiplayer so that would be more like Diablo then the first (second?).
Echo's comes out soon (if not already) in Japan and should be out by March in the US. Its definatly a title for a Diablo fan :)
Oh yeah and Ring of Fates is already out heh :p

Deep Labyrinth? I don't see how that is like Diablo-- and I've never even played Diablo. (Though I have played Deep Labyrinth) Deep's a first person Dungeon crawler, with little detail to skill development. In my opinion, not that great of a game either. I think Dungeon Explorer is as close of a call (again, I'm not to familar with the minor formalities of Diablo) as you'll get without having to Import.
A dungeon crawling, loot grubbing action RPG of the sort?poonhound
Sorry but I don't think a DS has one of those. But it does have a dungeon crawling, loot grabbing dungeon RPG but it's turnbased. There is actually three.
Izuna: Legend of the Unemloyed Ninja
Izuna 2: The Unemlpoyed Ninja Returns
Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer
