I think if ninty gives us more core games in a timely fashion and 3rd party games keep picking up at the pace thay have been lately the Wii could be there best console sense the SNES. it has the chance.I bought a Gamecube when it came out, and I wasn't all that thrilled by the game selections and quality. Is the Wii better than the Gamecube? I played a SSB demo at gamestop on the wii, but didn't get much out of it as I could barely make it out of the Character selection screen, less much fight.
In your opinion, will the Wii last like the DS has, or will it fall with Nintendo's next announcement (most likely next year).
Thanks

[QUOTE="ThisCurse"]At this point the Gamecube still has the best games and the graphics havent really changed. I sold my Wii and rebought a GC and couldnt be happier.SoraX64
WTF? Are you serious? I hope not...
Why would you sell your Wii that CAN play 100% of the GC games as well as wii games and VC ect games just to buy a GC that can only play GC games..... hmm something sounds off about your statment my friend[QUOTE="SoraX64"][QUOTE="ThisCurse"]At this point the Gamecube still has the best games and the graphics havent really changed. That was extremely stupid... You can play gamecube games on your wii:?
You can't compare a system that has been out for 2 years to systems that were out for 5+ years.Rocky32189
Indeed.
[QUOTE="darkkillerr"]the gc was the worst of his generation (gc,xbox,ps2) so I think the wii is betterslimdave21
Looking at your profile I'm guessing you never owned a GC, which doesn't really justify your statement.
When I think of the Xbox I think GRAPHICS/BILL GATES,Yeah, it was the least successful of the last-gen 3 in terms of sales... But, I owned a Gamecube and it was awesome. Games like Super Smash Bros. Melee, Resident Evil 4, The Wind Waker, Super Mario Sunshine, and Metroid Prime 1 & 2 are some of defining games that made the Gamecube. This reply probably belongs on System Wars, but whatever.
sorry but i have a gc
If I were to rank the Nintendo systems from highest to lowest it would be
SNES
NES
N64
GC
Wii
Since a lot of people keep saying you can't compare the Wii to GC since it hasn't had a full cycle. I will compare the first 2 years or so.
GC launched It had Rogue Squadron 2, Wave Race, Pikmin, Luigi's Mansion for a sort of mario game. It had Tony Hawk 3, when this game still mattered. Monke Ball was a neat game as well. Just after that came Smash Bros.
In the beginning of 02 you saw a dreamcast port of Sonic Adventure 2, That year was filled with cool titles like Animal Crossing, Mario Sunshine, Eternal Darkness, Star Fox Adventures, and Monkey Ball 2. Yes I said SF Adventures, it might not have been the game we all wanted, but at least they brought him out there. It wasn't really that bad, just a bit too Donkey Kong like. Metroid Prime hit the scene and rocked. They tried to bring Mega Man Battle Network over to the GC, but it did not work out. Timesplitters 2 was one of the best 3rd pary developed game for it's time. (Free Radical needs to get their act together after the Haze fiasco).
In 03 an actual new Zelda came out and they didn't just port over an N64 one but eventually did that with a special addtion pack later on in the cubes life cycle. Soul Caliber 2 came out and Link was the preferred exclusive character to Heihachi and Spawn. F-zero GX comes blasting out with keeping the fast futuristic racing with stunning visuals. Mario Golf swings into action as well as Mario Kart Double Dash. Prince of Persia was a cool 3rd party game to have on the system as well.
Some other cool games at those times were SSX and Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance.
Now lets look at the Wii
At launch we had Zelda which was a GC port, Monkey Ball and Rayman Rabbids. That was kind of it. Then you had Warioware, a Sonic game which was rather mixed. Then you had Super Paper Mario, and last gen ports like MK Armageddon, Prince of Persia the Two Towers with a different name, Resident Evil 4 and Guilty Gear XX Accent Core. Next you had Mario Strikers, Metroid Prime 3, Zack and Wiki, Mario Galaxy, and Fire Emblem. Battalion Wars 2 also hit the 07 camp too. In 08 We had No More Heroes, which is also mixed, Smash Bros Brawl, and Mario Kart Wii. We still have the PS2 ports like Bully and Okami. What do we have to look forward to for fall of 08?. Warioland, De Blob, Tales of Symphonia. Yes you can buy Star Wars the Force Unleashed and Call of Duty World at War on the Wii, but you can do so on the other systems as well. Deadly Creatures looks like it might slip into 09. We still don't have a word on Star Fox, F-zero, Pikmin, (other than that they are making it). Yes we do have Animal Crossing but it isn't that much of a step up from the DS or GC games. Castlevania seems like it could be rather crappy. Pilotwings was dropped from GC and never thought of again. Wave Race also remains absent. 85% of the games on Wii are more for casual players and such. the 15% that is geared toward the core gaming croud is either a port of a last gen game with tacked on Wii controls or the controls are just bad. The Wii will not be getting RE5, Prince of Persia or a proper Soul Caliber game. Timesplitters 4 also seems to be out of the question. All in all the Wii's primary focus is trying to get your 40 year old uncle bill and your 70 year old grandma prudence to play video games and has ignored the people who made Nintendo rich in the first place. Yeah sure we will get an occasional core title that everyone buys up and says I love Nintendo again, but let's be honest, Everyone thought Nintendo would go the extra mile and put out a lot more core titles with motion controls that really showed off why it is the new way and the more fun way to do things.
I bought a Gamecube when it came out, and I wasn't all that thrilled by the game selections and quality. Is the Wii better than the Gamecube? I played a SSB demo at gamestop on the wii, but didn't get much out of it as I could barely make it out of the Character selection screen, less much fight.

Take part in the new poll!
And to full_metal,
I didn't know if there was a difference, which is why I made the thread.

In my opinion the Nintendo consoles rank as such:
1) N64- the pinnacle of both 1st party and 3rd party support for Nintendo. Goldeneye, Mario 64, and OoT (among many others) are among the greatest games of all time and were the standard bearer for 3D gaming.
2) SNES- The beginning of the modern Nintendo we know today. This system had good third party support as well.
3) Wii- INtroduced motion controls to the undustry and online play for Nintendo home consoles. Best first party since N64, but relatively weak 3rd party.
4) NES- This could really be anywhere on the list. Games like Tetris, Super Mario, Zelda, and others made the gaming industry a staple in the home.
5) GCN- This had some of the weaker first party games we've seen. Sunshine and Windwaker received mxed criticism. Metroid Prime and Smash were great though. 3rd party support was better than the Wii, but still weak compared to 64.
Hmmm...
1.) SNES - Nintendo's peek.
2.) N64 - Nintendo best franchises realized in 3d for the first time. Nintendo + Rare = amazing combo.
3.) NES - Revived gaming, enough said.
4.) Wii - stopped gaming from becoming stagnant and imploding on itself
5.) GC - As Nintendo said, "the Gamecube was filler until the Wii." Pretty good filler, but could have been better.
