List of games that are girlfriend friendly

I just bought my girlfriend a 3DS for Christmas, but don't know what some of the better games are for the 3DS and DS (haven't bought either handheld before). She is a casual gamer who probably won't like anything too difficult.

I'm already looking into Nintendogs for 3DS and Pokemon Soul Silver, but don't know about the little gems each system has. Suggestions?

Super Mario 3D Land would be an excellent choice, you can't go wrong with Mario. As for the DS there's Animal Crossing, Style Savvy, Kirby, Professor Layton... The DS has a huge library so if you look around a bit you should be able to find plenty. :)

Oh yeah, and if you haven't looked into them already Pokemon Black and White are excellent.

Shante: Risky's Revenge is a nice gem of a game. It's good for both girls and guys. You can get it in the E-Shop for just a few bucks. Also there's the epic Zelda OOT.

Go with Bit.Trip Saga. Six games which are simple enough for anyone to play but with enough depth to keep you playing and playing.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Much appreciated. While Zelda might be slightly too complex for her, I know I'll get myself a copy and play it when she isn't using it. ;)

Ah HA! The real reason you got her a 3DS!

I think that one of the Kirby games would be good. None of them are too challenging. (Aside from the True Arena on Kirby superstar Ultra.) Also consider maybe Okamiden? But the first is miles better.

I know she liking Racers and Platformers (so Mariokart DS and any Mario/Kirby seem like good choices), but I never owned a DS before and didn't know if there were any good games I didn't know where out there (like Professor Layton, for example).

Mario Kart 7 would be a good choice, it comes out on December the 2nd I think. My ex girlfriend isnt really a gamer and she loves Mario Kart.
