[QUOTE="Haziqonfire"]No, I do as wellAm I the only one who thinks it looks kinda bad?
I mean, given the art direction they could've made it SO much better..

The cover is crap now that I had a night to think it over.
First of all it's not going to help sales so once again we see a dev that does not want to sell games on the Wii.
Secondly the art itself is crap. While No More Heroes screwed up their cover art as well they at least cary over the same style of the game on the case art. Madworld on the other hand had a failed art student try to make a cover. I mean besides the black and white colors there's no connection. It looks more like Danny DiVito after hitting the gym rather then the character in the game.
You have artists like Darick Robertson out there that can hit this kind of art flawlessly and they pick some garbage artist.
lets see you draw better then :P

If someon buys a game because of box art their an idiot, what the cover looks like should hold no merit over a persons view of whats behind that cover. What do you think the cover should have, pretty flowers fluttering in the area, maybe a rainbow? and theres no connection to the game besides the color? its the damn main character of the game. You ever heard the old saying "Don't judge a book by its cover" well I'm sure the same applies to games. A boxart shouldnt be about trying to make pretty pictures and goat people into buying the game because of a fancy picture on the front. It should be representative of the game even if you don't understand the link until you actually play the game.

That's crap and you know itThe cover is the MAIN way a game gets noticed on the shelves. That's why they put the games facing front in the stores on shelves that vary in height so each cover gets as much visibility as it can. Otherwise stores would stock the games sideways with only the titles showing on the spines. That would allow more room for the games to be on the sales floor.
Most people are drawn to box art. The box draws them in and then they read the back of the box. You're under the false assumption that everyone researches games before they buy them? Even at a gaming site like this people don't research games, hence the "WUT GAMES DO I GHET?" threads we see every hour.
This cover is crap and does nothing to draw a user in.
Also this isn't the main character in the game. It's a poorly drawn representation of a character who is supposed to be the main character in the game. It a bad picture.
Like I said before, this had better be a placeholder until the real art shows up.

1-The boxart isnt crap
2- The Black/White and Red contrast WILL stand out in the middle of all the games that use every possible colour in existance. Final Fantasy games in Europe/Japan stand out because of its simplicity
3- The main character DOES look like that, you either need glasses, or the ability to understand that he is doing a heavy facial expression, look at my sig for christ's sake. The image composition is very good and iconic.
4- This better be the final art, i dont want a typical boring action boxart from a Platinum Games game
5- This game's target audience already know about its existence, its not a cover (which is good btw) thats gonna break the deal
It's good but not great. Since I've been following the game since Day 1 I'll buy it regardless. Other who judge by the cover may think its TOO simplistic for the title that it is. I just think it would look more bada$$ if he wasn't in mid-air pose and had the cit behind him or if he just had a bada$$ pose with a bloody chainsaw. The cover makes it look like a T title and not an M title. Still a great game though.
EDIT:
If you zoom in to 125% it looks a whole lot smoother and better imo.
Eh I think it's a bit too simple. The No More Heroes boxart actually has some touches of other colours in the background while this one is just completely blank.

Brown and gray are the colors of the new millennium, gotta love the 45.000.000.000.000 games which use the same friggin' tones of brown and gray. Instead Platinum Games tried something new in concept and style, now they're just going on with the style they chose by making the cover like that. You seem to use a kind of backward logic, a cover completely black & white is gonna be the one which will get the most attention from people, because it will be the weirdest one in the bunch.
Besides one thing is to say the cover is not that good, on the other hand you just seem to spit poison at it just for fun, using words such as "garbage artist", "the art itself is crap". I'm sure you can make a much better artistic work, right?
Finally if they wanted to sell games to casuals and nothing more, they would make a compilation of mini games with Sonic with a cool colored cover, not a game about a Manhunt-like reality show where the graphics are in manga/comic flavour.
Of course they wanna make money, but they're trying to do it with style. Mad props to them.
