Dont know if nintendo is gonna make one but if they were what would you wanna c implemented in this one?

Dont know if this one was  in mario galaxy but i wanna c an entrie bowser galaxy with bowser being in the center but other planets aswell that you have to beat first before you get to him.

-different kinds of gravity, bigger planets too, more emphasis on collecting stars like in mario 64 ( have to figure out how to get it but doesn't lead you too it) better hubworld (maybe a spaceship or something), metal cap, wing cap.etc different power-ups. Also would be cool if the stars were used to make new galaxies. Also the return of the long jump!Maybe different dimensions!!

Also the return of the long jump! jazzballz_99

I pretty much traveled via 'long jump' in this game. Are you sure you were playing the right game?

Jump + Z + Foward = Longjump. Go have some fun.

it was a good platformer, but I hope too that they do something "special" with it next time around.

The only thing that was different about it this time was Mario had the ability to run around "planetoids" and the game became more linear.

It needs to be less linear, it needs to be harder, and there needs to be more platforming akin to Sunshine or 64. I would also like a much bigger, more enjoyable hub.

In fact, it would be awesome if the castle returned into space, but you're in it this time, and it would be the same as the castle in 64 but with some renovations and touchups, and because it's in space the gravity would be messed up. Also, I think that if you jump into any of the paintings, you get to play those levels again as an added bonus, only with updated graphics, and the characters would say new things, like the penguin would say "Hey Mario, it's been a while. What's new? PS, go fetch my son", and then you have to find her son but he's not a baby anymore, he's really a teenager now because it's been over a decade, and he's smoking and drinking a 40 and he's like "Yo, I don't need you to tell me what to do, punk!" and he'd kick you off the cliff, 300 style.

That would be awesome.

The game is less linear than Super Mario Sunshine,so I assume you want the sandbox-type gameplay of Super Mario 64?

I disagree. Sunshine was less linear than Galaxy in the sense that you had multiple paths to choose from, and you can even create your own paths in many cases, while in Galaxy you're forced to go on a specific path.
I'll give you an example:
FIRST STAR OF THE GAME

There is no possible different path you can choose to finish the level. You must follow the path. You have to go from Planet A to Planet B, and so on, until you reach the star. Most levels are like this.

Now, while I enjoyed Galaxy, I felt as though my hand was being held most of the time. That's what linear means to me.

And yes, I preferred the sandbox layout of 64 over Sunshine's, but Sunshine is not nearly as linear as Galaxy.

Galaxy is a lot more linear than Sunshine. Galaxy plays like a 2D sidescroller as far as how linear it is. Sunshine was like a playground where u were armed with a water gun. My personal opinion is they should make a sandbox mario where u have the whole mushroom kingdom as a world to collect stars in

Well most of these are already in the game. I want varied gravity too. Like in some levels you should just be able to fly around space or float.

Galaxy is less linear in the sense that you can complete the game with basically any different combination of stars you desire.Sunshine forces you to complete the game by tackling the last mission in every level, with each level having no sequence breaking opportunities, along with some other events along the way.And in Sunshine, you'll end following one basic route eventually; it's been a while since I've played a game, but I can't really recall many times where I could take a completely different route to take a challenge. The most you could do is play around in one area for a while, then go back and follow the basic route the game forces you to go.

Well I prefer to find my own way to the star. That's just my preference. I don't really care that I have to complete each world in order (which actually isn't the case if you know how to maneuver your way through Sunshine's hub), I just want to beat the level in the way I wanted, not the way they wanted. Sunshine's level layout is like a maze with multiple paths, some of which are more challenging, and hence more rewarding, than others. In Galaxy it's like you're going through a maze, but there's a trail of breadcrumbs along the way.

I actually liked the more linear gameplay in Galaxy. It seemed more like a 3D version of the 2D games. The 3D games were great, but it was a nice change of pace, and I hope that they do more things like that in the future. Anyway, if they do make another game, I hope that it's something like Mario World 2, where it may have some of the same ideas, but it's a very different game. Hope that they don't just make a Mario Galaxy 2 without doing anything more with it.

My list of 'fixes' or 'improvements': 1) Make it hard(er). Anyone that ever had less lives than they started with in this game has issues. Worst case at least make the game ramp up on difficulty. it wasn't until the last 10 or so stars with Luigi that I even had to make an effort. Remove all existance of 1-ups from the level hub. I mean really...

2) Make the ending only available to people that played more that 25% of the game (60 stars). Sorry rewarding the 'ending' for this game after only 60 stars was lame. Worst case, make getting all 241-2 stars have a real ending instead of a cheap lame galaxy as a 'wrap-up'. 3) Don't try to double the length of the game by having you do all of the SAME levels with a poor controlling mario... I mean Luigi. SMG did just about every thing right though, don't get me wrong, but I would really want something like this in a sequel.

I'd want it to have realistic gravity. Like on large planets, you'd be weighed down and can't jump as high, but on really small ones, you could jump extremely high and long jump around those planets forever. Also, a little more open feel would be nice.

we're asking for too much from Nintendo here guys. Seriously, we all thought SMG was to linear, so the next will most likely be the same to cater to their new customers.

I would say just place 10 stars throughout a world and a few more collectable items (golden mushrooms or something) that are obtainable whenever the user would like to obtain them, but they would have to initiate a sequence (flip a switch for a new area, collect a few items for someone, etc.) in order to receive these stars/items. I understand that we kind've were able to do that before in SM64/Sunshine, but you had to choose a mission first. Forget all that, and let the player use their head for once.

Keep the beginning easier just like any game, but make it actually hard at the end. Anyone remember playing SMB at getting to world 8-1. and actually being intimidated? I can't recall the last time I was intimidated by a game nowadays. Tis a shame.

Galaxy was great. There was some linear levels, some open ones. some cool 2-d sections, classic modes. All they need to do is make more of the levels, more dessert, more water, more space...etc nothing else, there isnt much of story, just princess is kidnapped, get bowser. I just want levels to play.

You weren't forced to go on a specific path in Galaxy. Once you get a couple beginning stars, I had a couple more galaxies I could go to and choose. And you can pretty much skip the boss battles (though I wouldn't because they were pretty cool) as long as you get 60 stars. Nevertheless, I don't really want a Galaxy 2. Something new would be nice, though I haven't a clue to how Nintendo is gonna outdo Galaxy. That game was just stellar :D

I agree with webbut. Linear is fine with me as long as the line is a fun one.

I'll steal bob's idea for my request for the next Mario platformer:

Difficulty settings. Let me play the whole game with only one unit of health. Give me more enemies to fight. Make the bosses faster or harder. This only serves to broaden the appeal of the game.

Galaxy did make some good steps in those areas. The comets added at least a little bit of challenge. Luigi's slightly more awkward controls upped the difficulty a bit, although in a cheap way. But the overall game was still too easy, and there was no way for the player to change that.

I would really like bigger environments/planets. I think they had to make the environments so small to get the game to look the way it did. I wouldn't mind turning the graphics notch down a bit to turn the planet size up.

I thought it was just as linear as Sunshine, but Sunshine had big levels, making it not seem so claustrophobic.

I don't like the idea of a super mario galaxy 2. However, i think you got it right at the end of your post. A Super Mario Dimensions would be totally awesome. It would be a great opportunity for Nintendo to add on to what they did with gravity in Galaxy! There could be dimensions where there isn't any friction, or ones where inertia doesn't work! How about reverse gravity where you are pushed away from the ground! Heck, as long as they're at it why not add a fourth dimension! There are endless possibilities when the laws of nature are no longer set!

Wait a second I still don't have the first one.. but I'll ask for it for the Holidays. Looks like a good game even though Iv'e never really even played any games like it really. Well maybe I have without knowing. But according to tons of people it's an awesome game :)
