now im not sure if this question is asked alot and i do know that many people hate the mario party series but...

do you think that they will release a new one, even after the release of Wii Party?

if so, what would you like to see implemented into the series?

for me id like to see online parties, non-mario characters would be cool too...

I would think a wii party 2 before a new mario party Heck, I would expect a wii[ish] party on the 3ds,

like a (3)DS Party, or something.

I really hope Wii Party 2 isn't made. Didn't like the first. They should release another Mario Party for the next system/3DS and include the most important thing this series needs...online play.

I think Mario Party is done at this point. It's been a good while since Mario Party 8 and all we've gotten since is Wii Party, which is basically a replacement for Mario. Unless Wii Party doesn't do anywhere near as well as any of the Mario Party's did at retail, I'd say that we won't be partying again with Mario any time in the foreseeable future.

If it is brought back, though, online play is a definite must. Local play is a blast and all, but online would be even better.

They're NOT gonna stop Mario Party. At least not anytime soon. It's pretty much a cash cow!

I think they will definitely make more. Just not on the Wii. By the way, all I want to see is a FUN Mario Party, more characters and more mini games that actually use the Wii remotes sensitive motion controlling. Mario Party 8 was pretty bad IMO, and I don't usually say that about the series. Most of them after 3 have been decent, if not exactly perfect.

i see absolutely no reason to play mario party online. not every game needs online multiplayer to be good ESPECIALLY if it comes at the cost of local multiplayer (wich would be a total nail in the coffin if that were the case). Mario Party for the past 8 iterations has been local and people still rush out to buy it at every turn and lets face it, the wii isnt exactly popularized because of its online functionality and competitiveness. i say keep it where its at just make some new mini games and mabey at the most make it motion plus

Nintendo should come out with a better online system, and then release Mario Party 9 as their flagship game to show off all the new online stuff (yes, I know MP is made by Hudson Soft). I'm not saying ditch local play; Mario Party is one of my favorite local multiplayer games. I'm just saying that the series could really use online play. Also, I wouldn't mind a MP 3DS if they could find some fun way to implement 3D and motion controls :)

Not sure if this article is accurate or what, but read this.

Used to love the series (Subseries?) as a kid. Now I plan to regain all the games again. I've owned them all except 5 and 7.

It's very possible that a new Mario Party will be made, no one knows when though. A new one could be shown at E3 this year, either for the Wii or most likely the 3DS. And actually I found an interview article on GoNintendo a while back with Hudson talking about the future of the Mario Party series. I don't remember the exact wording but they stated that a new Mario Party will be made but they want to wait until they can make one that will blow everyone away. I think a new one should be made also, it's just too good of a series to end.

Things I want to see implemented are,

Motion Plus support as well as Wii Speak Support if it comes out on the Wii, obviously those wouldn't work on the 3DS.

Online play with at least three other people online including yourself and the ability to play party boards with friends or random people. Make it so that if a person leaves or drops out of a game because they're losing it would affect their online Star Ranking. Also have eight player mini games online so up to seven other people could play with you including yourself. Have the option to either play party boards or mini games online, it could be two seperate modes.

Online leaderboards of somekind. Have a Star Ranking system, the more you win the more stars you have. Playing party boards online would award you 25 Stars for coming in first, 20 for second, 15 for third and 10 for fourth. Playing mini games online would award you 1 Star per mini game won or something like that.

Add more characters. I'm not sure if adding non nintendo characters would be a good idea, it's not like Smash Bros :P But maybe there could be cameo appearances on some of the party boards, like you could see Link or Samus but they wouldn't actually be playable or there could be references like in the item shops in the background you could see the Master Sword or Samus's Helmet or something. But as for characters I think Rosalina, Bowser and Bowser Jr need to be playable characters. Petey Pirannah, King Boo, Para Troopa and Diddy Kong would also be good additions and also bring back Donkey Kong as a playable character. And add the baby characters, Baby Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Donkey Kong, Wario and add Baby Waluigi and Rosalina as new ones. Plus keep all the current characters they already have in Mario Party 8 and don't get rid of any. And make Mii's playable not just in certain mini games. That would bring the roster to over 30 I think.

Also bring back costumes from Mario Party 2. That was such a clever addition to the game and it's a shame they didn't implement it more. And they could make the boards each have a theme, or make 6 additional boards that you have to unlock and are seperate from the standard 6 you start out with. Like there could be a Super Mario Galaxy theme board, Paper Mario theme board, a Mario Kart/Sports theme board, Super Mario Sunshine/Delfino Plaza theme board, 8-Bit retro theme board and maybe a New Super Mario Bros theme board. For example, the Super Mario Galaxy board would take place in space and there would be launch stars and other things placed around the board, Paper Mario board everything would be paper including the characters, Mario Kart/Sports board the characters would be driving around the board on their karts and there could be sports equipment lying around and stuff like that, Mario Sunshine board would take place around Delfino Plaza with Piantas that you could interact with and everyone would be equiped with a F.L.U.D.D, 8-Bit board everything would have 8-Bit graphics and New Super Mario Bros board maybe they could make a board out of the World Map from NSMB Wii or something. Basically all these special themed boards would implement things from all the games they're based upon.

I suppose, but it would at least give players an alternative to playing against AI bots when not able to get any people to play locally.

They'll release a new one. The series makes money, so... pretty self explanatory. Honestly, those games infuriate me to no end, so I try to avoid them when possible, but I still find myself compelled to play them sometimes.

Mario Party 8 was brutal. It only rivals Super Mario Galaxy for my "WTF how did they completely ruin such a good series!?!" award. The minigames were horrendous, the gameplay rather simplified, and the fun absent.

It should stay dead at 8 for a while. Nintendo milked Mario Party on the GC. Mario Party came out every year for that system except 2006. There were 4 mario parties on the GC. Mario Party came out every year on the Nintendo 64 except before the first's creation. There was a Mario Party in 98, 99, and 2000. The only years N64 was pretty much dead when Majora's mask came out. There is enough mini game collections on Wii.

That makes no sense at all. Local and Wifi modes of play can still exist on the same game disc right!?

well that was my exact idea about the characters. no non-nintendo characters, just some non-mario ones added. i.e.: link, zelda, samus, pikachu... etc.. as for the boards those would be great ideas too. id like to see, if they use the non-mario character idea, the creation of boards about the non-mario charactesr like: a hyrule or termina or great sea board, tallon 4 or zebes or aether board, one from the pokemon series.. stuff like that.

Mario Party on 3DS sounds like a great idea!
