MP8 deserves no more than a 6 at best.
It clearly is a GameCube port with tacked on Wii controls, heck only have the mini-games have Wii controls, most of which aren't that great, while the rest don't. It's a shoddy effort aim to milk the same people who continue to buy it over and over.
"The minigames are great, the boardgames are inventive, but the graphics are outdated and it relies a lot on luck"
Thats the GS review in a nutshell. Why expect a long running series to drastically change their formula when they can cash cow a fun game instead? Graphics have never been the object of any MP game, MP games have always features luck quite heavilly so as to somewhat level the playing field, making it a better party game.
I havnt played it myself, but all I could hear reading the review was the emo-level whining of far too many out of this generations gamers. It's probably no 5 star game, but 6.5 is far too low when graphics and luck mechanics (which have always been there for distinct reason) are you're only complaint.
[QUOTE="hazbazz"]no thanks, im sick of minigames on the wii

My thoughts exactly.

Imagine that 15 new basketball leauges popped up next year after the NBA's postseason ended, and then when it's time for the NBA's season to fire up, people said "What? More basketball? I'm sick of basketball!"
That's what knocking Mario Party being a minigame based game on the wii is likeÂ

If that situation were to happen, I'm positive that people WOULD be sick of basketball.

Likely, but the NBA games would still fill stadiums, while the other ones would peter out unless another league somehow did basketball a whole lot better than the NBA. They've been around forever. They shouldn't get cut down because other people cash in on their idea. They've ben providing quality basketball based entertainment for years before basketball was the "thing" to cash in on. Â
We're not getting an MP game just because there's a lot of novelty to fiddle around with in the minigame format on the wii. We're getting another addition to a long running franchise. There wasnt an abundance of gimmic or novelty on the N64 or the GC, but we got tons of MP games anyway. The wii one is no different.Â

That doesn't change the fact that mini-games are mini-games. I feel that I'm set with WarioWare and Rayman. That might change in a year or so, but right now they do me just fine :)
There's something fundamental about my point you're not understanding. Oh well. Faliur to communicate ideas is an inevitable folly of language if you keep using it as your primary method of communication (sorry =p)felbunny
I get what you're saying (I think): Mario Party was the first, so it should be respected. I definitely agree, but there already have been quite a few mini-game games released for the Wii, and the fact that this one is THE mini-game game doesn't make me want to go out and buy it any more.

communication established!
Im not about to go out and buy it either (I havn't bought an MP game, ever, and would probably buy an older GC release for 10-20 bucks instead if I were to buy any of them). But regardless, saying "*groan, not ANOTHER minigame comp" about an MP game is just stupid.Â

I disagree that it's stupid, because I think that while Mario Party was THE mini-game compilation, it has been outdone by various other games (such as WarioWare).
If you had 12 cans of various brands of cola, and someone brought a Coke, you probably wouldn't be thrilled. Just because it was the original cola doesn't make it any better.Â
