The release date for Mario Party 8 is slated for May 29th now, so the confusion has finally ended.

Yesss. I'm excited for this one. I haven't played Mario Part since the 3rd on on N64. I think they've kinda gone downhill.

Exactly, I didn't expect it to get online added on though, I'm just glad there's a concrete date set now.

I don't care at all that this game isn't going to be online. I play these games with my wife, kids and family, not random people I don't know. Those games generally aren't fun, because the people who play online are only looking to win and better their "RANK" on some leaderboard. Games like Mario Party are meant simply to have fun, not show how good you are at a "VIDEO GAME".

Let me pre-empt my statement by saying I believe everyone has a right to their opinion about what they want in a game or want out of a game and how they want to play it....

That said, I believe with you completely. ALOT of onliners like to play that way to get easy wins to better their rank, and if they're not playing well, then they d/c. It's the nature of the beast with online games whether most her do it or not. It does happen too much. T o play a board game like MP8 online, how boring to sit there like a slave, staring at the screen and waiting and waiting for the other person to make a move or do whatever.

I woudl rather play it at home with friends and family.

But thats just my opinion.

Sure, there are people who like to play online games to get easy wins and boost their e-penis, but I don't consider myself one of them and to generalize everybody who wants online is rather unfair.

A lot of my friends who I use to play video games with have either moved to another part of the city and have lives that make it almost impossible to get to together in one place or have moved out of the country completely.  Having online would at least allow us in some way of creating a similar experience as we had before.  Heck, I do that with StarCraft and its just as fun.

And with the past Mario Party games being really mediocre, it adds another reason to pass on 8.

I agree, call me old school but I much prefer to play multiplayer with people in the same room. Not some random person halfway across the world.

So the people who I have been  friends with over the years playing StarCraft, WarCraft III, and Counter-Strike are nothing but 'random' people?

Yes they were random people, and infact still are. People have really adapted to this whole internet lifestyle where they now call people who they have never even met friends. Thats not something that I do and like I said whether you want to call these people your friends or not I still much prefer play games with people in the same room.

I would just like to be able to play with other people at any time instead of having to set up special events and inviting over friends who all live more than a half hour away.  I've played previous Mario Party's and the single-player isn't enough for me, Wiimote or no Wiimote.  Especially when they will most likely release another version in a year or so that will have online and be essentially the same.

I agree. Mario PARTY is about getting together with friends or family to have some fun, it isn't about competing against strangers. Even though not all online gaming is about leader boards, the Mario Party games just are not made for online play. In reality it this probably just because the game play isn't deep enough to stand on its own. Online Monopoly sucks and so would online Mario Party.

Even if it was on-line I probably wouldnt be intrested in the on-line play because mario party games have always been fun with just playing with some friends or by yourself. I'm glad it was pushed back though because thats means that they are probably improving it and I have no money:?

I emailed Nintendo directly to ask what was going on and I finally got a response.

Hello and thank you for contacting Nintendo,

I would be glad to answer your question.  Currently, Mario Party 8 is scheduled for release on April 29th.

For future reference, our website's Game List (http://www.nintendo.com/gamelist) represents the best place to find the most accurate release dates.  Once there, click "Show advanced filtering" and use the dropdown menus to narrow your search based on system, publisher, number of players, etc.

When you have filtered your search, click on the game's title to see all the available information.  If what you seek is not yet available, please check back later. When there is new information to share on announced games or other upcoming products, our website is the best official source!

Remember, any posted release dates are estimates and subject to change.  As a product's estimated release date approaches, you may wish to check with your local retailers to see when it may be available in your area.

Sincerely,

Nintendo of America Inc.
David Glover

April 29th is a Sunday and May 29th is a Tuesday so I am thinking it more likely will be in May.

I can't wait for it.

And I'm sure Mario Party 9 and onward will have online capabilities, but I agree with the people that say MPs are meant for you and your friends and family.
