Has anybody heard about Mario Party 9 yet??? I think it should be coming soon since the Mario Parties are usually released around the Summer Holidays. Has anyone seen any proof of it coming???
The game has really only been worth buying since the Wii and this one coming up should be leaps and bounds over the last one since they're fully embracing the Wii now.
*yawn* Sorry, but when a franchise gets to the point where there's a 9 in its name, it needs to die. Especially when there's been virtually no game play advancements since the first installment.
I was kind of disapointed with Mario Party 8. If they release 9 I hope it's a lot better

Only if they start numbering them that high and fail to make any improvement to gameplay whatsoever. (Zelda and Mario games don't use numbers though.)

Although Mario Party gets a sequel almost every year, it is taking the year off for 2008. Expect the next one anywhere from spring to fall of 2009. Besides, they have to do something to make it fresh. It's been rehashed to death.
I'm anxious to see what changes are made to it. Mario Party 8 didn't turn out the way I thought it would turn out - awesome. Hopefully MP9 will change that. I own or have owned MP's 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. It's a fun - not great - game with friends. Just make the maps faster paced, minis take a bit longer and base them more on skill, eliminate some of the gimmick stars, and maybe even make the story mode deeper. I don't know how the latter would be changed, but it would be cool if they did. And make all the maps available with the classic way of getting stars. I hate how in MP8, all the maps contained different ways of obtaining stars and only ONE allowed for traditional play. They can keep the gimmick stars, but let us play the classic way on more than one map.
It needs to make a big step. it needs to have online, it needs to have ranking, it needs use the Wiimote, it needs to use the BALANCE BOARD, bring back the microphone as an easter egg, head tracking as an easter egg, and extra features like that.
Mario Party is THE party game and it should live up to its name. It should be packed with features.
Mario Party has never been a top notch series. Nintendo needs to just scrap the whole idea from the past and create something totally new and refreshing that both hardcore and casual gamers can enjoy.

i hate how nintendo develops the mario party games. they release too many each generation and create dissent among many. They could probabaly sell more units if they focused their games into one or two releases. Besides that Mario Party on the DS is somewhat a revival of a very unoriginal series. I would not mind it if they cut it off from the consoles and continued it where it really makes sense and thats with portables.
Mario Party is always lots of fun but Nintendo/Hudson should at least put more effort into making them different. Online especially would be a nice addition.
