Since most people keep saying how horrible the game is, if you saw the game for $10 at a store, would you buy it? Or if you already did a long time ago, would you reccomend it to somebody?

There are few games, NOT worth 10 bucks. This is a very good game. SepewrathI'm sure there are plenty of games out there not worth 10 bucks. :P Terrible games aren't worth paying anything for.
But yeah, this definitly isn't one of those games. I played 50 for it when it was new. A little on the short side, but still worth it.

Even an overall bad game, can provide some kind of entertainment, even if its mocking how bad it is, with a bunch of your friends. I have never played a game with just no redeemable value lol, I think you would literally have to try to make a game like that. I don't thinks its possible to do by accident :P^ I think people were coming off a high from the Prime series. Also the exploration aspect of the game is slightly diminished so it might not "feel" enough like a Metroid game to some. I personally didn't like it much, but for $10 I'd say it's absolutely worth it.
I found Metroid 2 to be the worst of the bunch. But anyways, TC, like most have said, go for it.Not worth anymore then $10 worst metroid game IMO

Recieved lots of 9's and 8.5's.
The game has some flaws and lacks polish in certain aspects. Listen to the VA on youtube, if it doesn't "kill your ears" like some people claim, uncheck that box. The graphics are phenomenal, especially the cutscenes and they are well made.
The negative part is that you have to endure some scenes with weird Samus monologue, but they're still enjoyable to watch. It has those wtf moments like pixel-hunting, but they last for a minute. Other possible turn-offs: D-pad controls in a 3D environment. It works really well if you ask me. Another one is that you point to the screen, from a Wiimote-sideways position to enter 1st person mode during combat, however it is very responsive and the game slows down for a sec to compensate for not being instant, in order to work in heated battle.
All in all, it's a spinoff game, a different take on 'Metroid'. It won't feel like 'Metroid' in many ways. Story is straight forward, not bad not mindblowing. It's like Fusion, you're exploring an abandoned ship. It has some interesting characters and twists aswell.
You need to buy it just to play the gravity parts. You're walking upside down and the gravity is stronger which means Samus feels like a rock to handle, that was a wow moment for me. So good, youtube it. It's lenghty and linear which means there's alot of content, unlike Metroidvanias, which can be completed in just a few hours if you know your way. Bosses are great and that's a huge plus.
It is absolutely worth $10. Even if after playing the game you become one of those stuck-up Metroid fans who doesn't like the story or whines about the lack of exploration, you'll still have played an action-packed game with awesome 2D-like Metroid gameplay that's not quite like anything else you've played before. It's a complete steal at $10.
Many Nintendo fans in general who claim "to love" a franchise like to whine. Just look at the Zelda cycle! It is absolutely worth $10. It's worth more than $10, that's a steal!
The game is NOT horrible, it's a little disappointing for a Metroid game, but overall the game is pretty great.
I'm a Metroid fan (at least I consider myself as one) and I can only recomend this game. I bought it at launch and was very satisfied. As the title says - it's someting other than before. Cinematic cutscenes, gameplay, graphics, music (especially in multichannel surround) and gravity manipulated areas were just amazing. Well maybe Samus' monologues and the Deleter topic wasn't very well thought out (and what the hell was with the mysterious gun shot anyway?), but still the story is cool :) Get the game, it's a worthy title for a collection.
Is this some kind of joke?
Ofcourse it's worth it.
It's good, not as good as the Primes, but still good enough to pass your time, though easy and short.
I don't get all the hatred,def. overeacting...
