seriously, i think if nintendo takes this series online it'll be good. It has halo caliber potential imo. look at metroid prime hunters, the idea was there, the online mp was good but got ruined by glitchers and cheaters that they refused to address. Plus the wii mote makes it a much more deep game than a regular controller type FPS like halo, gears, killzone or resistance. I really think retro studios is giving up a huge opportunity in not adding online MP to metroid.

Its just too bad, the wii doesnt have an outstanding online FPS game like killzone or gears, and i think metroid is their only chance to do that, oh well.

The fact that they didn't include isn't a dealbreaker or anything. I don't mind because I'm already going to get 3 games for the price of 1. On the other hand, I wouldn't have complained if they did include it, because it would be interesting to see what it would be like. I don't know though... I kind of agree with AlexSays and Jasonguy on this. I don't really think it's a bad thing that they're doing this collection or the other NPC game, especially since I haven't played most of them. But at the same time, I don't know if I want them to take up a lot more time with the online mode, which they could just as easly spend on making a new Metroid game, that might have its own multi-player mode that includes online gameplay.

I agree, and it's not like Metroid was originally a FP-adventure game on the NES, games evolve with time and taking Metroid online with multiplayer would be a big step forward. Again when the @#$% is Wii going to get a good FPS that offers BOTH split screen and online multiplayer, this is absolutely assinying and a complete insult that not even Nintendo has stepped up to the plate.

So you want Metroid to be more like Halo? You want it to be another online FPS? NO THANKS! Don't let Halo ruin gaming any further than it already has. Not every game needs online or multiplayer.

The difference being that no Zelda game has had a 32 player death match with bow and arrows offline, and then was remade with that same mode on the disc, with the possibility of updating it to be online. Metroid, on the other hand, had a multi-player mode in MP2, and has that same mode in this game. This isn't about adding online multi-player for no reason. It's about adding online to a mode that's already going to be on there, just offline.

I'm personally mixed about it, because I don't know if I want them to spend that extra time on a remake/port of the games when they could have spent it on another game, but at the same time I definitely understand where people are coming from with this, and it's not like they're coming up with some crazy idea off their top of their head when it has never actually had a multi-player mode to begin with.

not every game where the main char has a ranged weapon should have multiplayer

the fact that bioshock 2 is going to have multi player kinda proves this for some reason no matter what game it is people allways whine for multi player till the devs give in. how would metroid have multi and still be metroid would you solve puzzles then use your morph ball to acceces the flag grapple accrose then shoot somone........no im guessing it would be more like spaming the fire button fragfest halo crap.

lastly there is no way nintendo is adding anything else to these games just wii controls

It depends what kind of game you're talking about. If you're talking about a single player adventure game like Metroid or Zelda, no it shouldn't have online. If you're talking about a multiplayer focused game such as Halo, yes it should have online.

Metroid Prime Hunters was built from the ground up as an FPS and is nothing like any of the other games in the series. The single player was terrible because the developer focused on multiplayer. Hopefully Nintendo never makes that mistake again.

This is a quick, dirt cheap port. Nintendo will not be adding any multiplayer to it. Metroid stands best as a single player experience. I can't imagine enjoying rolling up into a ball and chasing people around with bombs for hours on end.

I don't see them adding online multiplayer to Metroid any time soon. The multiplayer in Echoes wasn't very good, and while Hunters (DS) worked well, it didn't capture the feel of Metroid at all. Perhaps one day Nintendo will decide they need an online FPS in their line up and make a Metroid online multiplayer game like hunters again. Don't hold your breath, though :P

I'm getting a little tired of seeing you say this. You can dislike a game if you choose to, but using such provocative and insulting language to describe it makes it seem as though you're looking for a fight. When you say it's garbage, you're presumably trying to say it's unenjoyable and so Metroid multiplayer shouldn't be pursued. But it seems that very few would agree that Hunters "was garbage". Why should Nintendo listen to a teensy minority opinion like yours over the masses who enjoyed Hunters and Metroid multiplayer in general?

Why is it that people think that adding online to the multiplayer mode which is already in the game will automatically change the collection. It's simple. The game consists of the 3 games. In this collection, I believe that they split it up into 4 sections: Metroid Prime Metroid Prime 2 (single player) Metroid Prime 3 Metroid Prime 2 (multi-player) See, the key thing is that they wouldn't be adding multi-player to this game, because it's already in there. Instead, the OP is asking if the multi-player, which is already in there, should be expanded beyond what was originally in MP2, and now have online. It wouldn't be different, it would be exactly the same. So would the 3 single-player games. They wouldn't suddenly become "t3h generix halowz!" People who are saying that also say that the game are great adventure games. Well, guess what? The multi-player portion won't suddenly change those single-player games that you're praising. It would just be a bonus for those who want it. I can see why some people wouldn't want it, because they see this as a lazy port, and wouldn't want them to waste more time on it, and even I might be leaning towards this side of the argument. But I just don't see why people are saying that the multi-player portion would somehow change the essence of the whole series. I mean, the games are already made. The single player, and the multi-player. It can't be changed, except for the little enhancements that they're making (like the medals for the first 2 games).

Yeah, I guess you're right. I mean, it would have taken more time, but it would have added to the value of the whole thing. It would make it so that people who might not be interested in this game would actually consider getting this. And if it was done right, it would be a great step in the right direction for non-racing online gameplay. I guess there's always The Conduit, assuming the online turns out as good as I'm hoping, but why not have 2 games that have good online if you can? :P

I disagree. Anyways, I think they should leave the GCN remakes as they are except for the new controls, and bring out a new Metroid Prime Hunters for Wii, with the original hunters and some new ones, and a single-player mode for everyone.

Look at all these opinions :? None of you know what a good multiplayer Metroid would be like so you just assume it will be bad? Let Nintendo experiment for themselves. The Legend of Zelda is a single player experience, but look at Four Swords. Was that game horrible? And here's the best part. If Nintendo does include multiplayer in a Metroid game you do not have to play it and stick with your "it's a single player experience" while others enjoy it. It's like saying Carnival games is a bad game just because you don't like it when there are tons of people out there who enjoy it. :)

[QUOTE="ZumaJones07"] And here's the best part. If Nintendo does include multiplayer in a Metroid game you do not have to play it and stick with your "it's a single player experience" while others enjoy it.

They will respond, "but by designing a multiplayer part, they'll be taking away resources from the development of a single-player campaign. Single-player will be shorter or not have as much work done on it so they can focus on multiplayer." They will also say, "designing a multiplayer part means they'll have to change the entire single-player experience because as it is, the single-player experience isn't suited to multiplayer since it has serious balance issues because Samus is way more powerful than any characters in single player."

I'd rather devs not waste any more time with a compilation of old games.AlexSays
I don't think slapping Wii controls on MP1 and 2 and then putting all three on one disc caused alot of sleepless nights. Compliation disc are probably the easist things to do in the gaming industry.

i think EVERY game should have an online component.

I hope your joking, online play is a waste anyway, I would rather local multiplayer as online play just boils down to a ring of cheaters and hacks.

I've wanted more online ever since MPH, because that game had some great online, they just need to give it MP3 graphics and add in something (I don't know what but you people will find out) and BINGO/Scrabble/Majhong/Yahtzee/Sorry!/Uno/Checkers.

[QUOTE="TaMuK711"]

[QUOTE="Rocky32189"]No. Metroid is a single player adventure game. If you want an online FPS buy Call of Duty or wait for the Conduit.Haziqonfire

So because games were never online before they shouldnt be now? Goldeneye was a great FPS and it wasn't online so that means FPS's shouldnt try to push forward...

*In before the "Itz not teh FPSz" whiners*

Its not a FPS.

Its like me asking for the next zelda to have 32 player death match with bow and arrows.

Metroid prime is a first person shooter. How is it not?

It's not a traditional FPS. It's primarily an adventure game.
