I'd rather devs not waste any more time with a compilation of old games.AlexSaysthen why did you get a wii?
seriously, i think if nintendo takes this series online it'll be good. It has halo caliber potential imo. look at metroid prime hunters, the idea was there, the online mp was good but got ruined by glitchers and cheaters that they refused to address. Plus the wii mote makes it a much more deep game than a regular controller type FPS like halo, gears, killzone or resistance. I really think retro studios is giving up a huge opportunity in not adding online MP to metroid.scratch-o-heyI agree with this statement. Nintendo can make it incredible, if they want to.

What kind of question is that lol.
It would've been a nice extra for a compliation. Levels modeled after Prime and Corruption, how cool would that have been?
No. Metroid is a single player adventure game. If you want an online FPS buy Call of Duty or wait for the Conduit.Rocky32189
So because games were never online before they shouldnt be now? Goldeneye was a great FPS and it wasn't online so that means FPS's shouldnt try to push forward...

I agree, and it's not like Metroid was originally a FP-adventure game on the NES, games evolve with time and taking Metroid online with multiplayer would be a big step forward. Again when the @#$% is Wii going to get a good FPS that offers BOTH split screen and online multiplayer, this is absolutely assinying and a complete insult that not even Nintendo has stepped up to the plate.[QUOTE="Rocky32189"]No. Metroid is a single player adventure game. Its like me asking for the next zelda to have 32 player death match with bow and arrows.

Oh so predictable...
So you want Metroid to be more like Halo? You want it to be another online FPS? NO THANKS! Don't let Halo ruin gaming any further than it already has. Not every game needs online or multiplayer.

The difference being that no Zelda game has had a 32 player death match with bow and arrows offline, and then was remade with that same mode on the disc, with the possibility of updating it to be online. Metroid, on the other hand, had a multi-player mode in MP2, and has that same mode in this game. This isn't about adding online multi-player for no reason. It's about adding online to a mode that's already going to be on there, just offline.
I'm personally mixed about it, because I don't know if I want them to spend that extra time on a remake/port of the games when they could have spent it on another game, but at the same time I definitely understand where people are coming from with this, and it's not like they're coming up with some crazy idea off their top of their head when it has never actually had a multi-player mode to begin with.
No. Metroid is a single player adventure game. If you want an online FPS buy Call of Duty or wait for the Conduit.Rocky32189u r wrong. metroid prime hunters had online and it was awesome
not every game where the main char has a ranged weapon should have multiplayer
the fact that bioshock 2 is going to have multi player kinda proves this for some reason no matter what game it is people allways whine for multi player till the devs give in. how would metroid have multi and still be metroid would you solve puzzles then use your morph ball to acceces the flag grapple accrose then shoot somone........no im guessing it would be more like spaming the fire button fragfest halo crap.
lastly there is no way nintendo is adding anything else to these games just wii controls
[QUOTE="Rocky32189"]No. Metroid is a single player adventure game. If you're talking about a single player adventure game like Metroid or Zelda, no it shouldn't have online. If you're talking about a multiplayer focused game such as Halo, yes it should have online.

The single player was terrible because the developer focused on multiplayer. Hopefully Nintendo never makes that mistake again.

Hunters was a new IP in Metroid's Skin.
It wasn't a Metroid game at all and it was garbage.
This is a quick, dirt cheap port. Nintendo will not be adding any multiplayer to it. Metroid stands best as a single player experience. I can't imagine enjoying rolling up into a ball and chasing people around with bombs for hours on end.
very good idea, lets make the best FPA game and make it a generic shooter!
why not throw in some ailians that try to take over the world, maybe with some sorta american army vs nazi ailians :P

Anyways, that was a great, incisive post. Too bad it was resoundingly ignored in favour of the same old arguments.
It wasn't a Metroid game at all and it was garbage.HaziqonfireI'm getting a little tired of seeing you say this. You can dislike a game if you choose to, but using such provocative and insulting language to describe it makes it seem as though you're looking for a fight. When you say it's garbage, you're presumably trying to say it's unenjoyable and so Metroid multiplayer shouldn't be pursued. But it seems that very few would agree that Hunters "was garbage". Why should Nintendo listen to a teensy minority opinion like yours over the masses who enjoyed Hunters and Metroid multiplayer in general?
Why is it that people think that adding online to the multiplayer mode which is already in the game will automatically change the collection. Hungry_Homer111People are on autopilot. They're rehashing the same general Metroid Online arguments rather than paying attention to what the OP was actually saying.

Anyways, that was a great, incisive post. Too bad it was resoundingly ignored in favour of the same old arguments. Yeah, I guess you're right. I mean, it would have taken more time, but it would have added to the value of the whole thing. It would make it so that people who might not be interested in this game would actually consider getting this. And if it was done right, it would be a great step in the right direction for non-racing online gameplay. I guess there's always The Conduit, assuming the online turns out as good as I'm hoping, but why not have 2 games that have good online if you can? :P
Metroid multiplayer is just bad.TheLordMagnusI disagree. Anyways, I think they should leave the GCN remakes as they are except for the new controls, and bring out a new Metroid Prime Hunters for Wii, with the original hunters and some new ones, and a single-player mode for everyone.
Multiplayer for the prime games is a terrible idea.

Look at all these opinions :? None of you know what a good multiplayer Metroid would be like so you just assume it will be bad? Let Nintendo experiment for themselves. The Legend of Zelda is a single player experience, but look at Four Swords. Was that game horrible? And here's the best part. If Nintendo does include multiplayer in a Metroid game you do not have to play it and stick with your "it's a single player experience" while others enjoy it. It's like saying Carnival games is a bad game just because you don't like it when there are tons of people out there who enjoy it. :)Metroid stands best as a single player experience. I can't imagine enjoying rolling up into a ball and chasing people around with bombs for hours on end.

I'd rather devs not waste any more time with a compilation of old games.AlexSaysI don't think slapping Wii controls on MP1 and 2 and then putting all three on one disc caused alot of sleepless nights. Compliation disc are probably the easist things to do in the gaming industry.
I hope your joking, online play is a waste anyway, I would rather local multiplayer as online play just boils down to a ring of cheaters and hacks.i think EVERY game should have an online component.

It's not a traditional FPS. It's primarily an adventure game. Please Log In to post.
