I dont mean to offend anyone because I know how theres a lot of hardcore Metroid fans there are here, but will this game be any different you think? I have not been impressed by previous Metroid game and i'm just looking for a FPS like Halo. I am a lover on Nintendo, but I've never seen the big thing with Metroid. I'm just wondering if this game will be good enough to change my mind.

Thanks

If you didn't like Metroid Prime or Metroid Prime 2 chances are you're probably not going to like Metroid Prime 3. Its perfectly logical to assume this game is not that different from its predecessors. Except for the fact that it will be very easy to control with (using to wiimote to aim instead of a thumb stick).

Should be even better than Prime 1 and 2. Wii controls, nice graphics, and you actually get to run and gun; on Prime 1 and 2 you had to hold R to aim, so this should be good.

Why would you compare MP and Halo? Sure they are first person, but they aren't even in the same genre.

Agreed it will probably have the same amount. but if the opening level is any indication maybe. i dont see less backtracking being a problem. I do think some backtracking is good but MP2 pushed it way too far and it just became repetitive after a while.

No its not called a challenge its called insanity. The method for getting 100% is soo lame its ungodly. *go into the room look at ever single thing, scan it, kill everything scan it, rinse and repeat in every single room there follows* its so pointless to the ending cutscene was BS and it wasnt worth it considering it was on xplay like a year later. sure maybe some people (all both of them) like to scan everything but you must agree that at some point it becomes annoying. seriously one thing missed could cause you to get a 99% instead of 100. which means more backtracking through every room until you find that one thing you missed. Insanity i tell you. Sure its not required but i like to fully complete games, but that is just asking too much.

It may be made by a different company but it doesnt mean it doesnt fit into the story or lend itself to other titles. Nintendo has to approve of it after all. Sure its a spin off, but i really like MPH and i think your giving it a bad rep. Do you honestly think nintendo just put it out there because of sales and online. it was originally suppose to be out at launch but then was delayed to add online. And isnt every game to push sales? btw the ds was already dominating the psp in sales when hunters came out so it really didnt matter if it came out or not.  i spent more time on the single player than online anyway. the game can hold itself up as a decent single player expereince. lol your using a logo to prove a point lmao. its just a marketing slogan who cares. it doesnt make the game any less great than it is. it may not be better than the others but its still a great game. Also i dont understand what your trying to say for DQ9.bofe1234

As for backtracking, there's nothing more to discuss, I think both you and me agree it's a natural thing in the Metroid series as a whole, not just the Prime games, so it will happen despite people's personal opinion.

Almost every adventure game has a lot of upgrades here and there and having 100% is optional, but often rewarding. If it's too hard for you, don't call it insanity. I did it in hard mode in Metroid Prime and it was fun. It may not be your dream of a challenge, but guess what, not everything in the world will please you. There isn't really what to discuss either, it's 100%, it's supposed to be hard. And once again, it's Metroid. Have you played the original Metroid or Super Metroid? If you miss something in one of those game and have to turn back... Man, Prime's backtracking will sound like child's play.

As for MP:H, I think you got what I meant. It's a spin off. It was made specifically for the DS, and let me remind you, back then the PSP could still have won, the difference of units was of 3 millions or less. Portable wars aside, I'm not discussing MPH quality, but it's relevance in the main series, which is almost none. It's DS software, it's a spin off, it isn't made by Retro, it is focused on multiplayer (whatever you prefer, the intention was the multiplayer and you can't deny it).

And you said I'm misregarding MPH because it's a DS game, and said I'd think DQ9 is a spin off just because it's on DS. Bullsh!t, and by this time, I guess you realized you're analogy doesn't make any sense.

I like the graphics and depth that the Metroid games bring but have always gotten very bored with them very quickly. Combat has always been less than rewarding too because of the lock-on and respawning (MP3 still encourages some lock-on). Sooooo I dunno if I want it myself. However I really want Nintendo to sell the engine to 3rd parties, it would work great for other shooters.

Again, you miss my point. I don't care whether or not MP:H was a representation of the main series. I thought it was a good game - better than MP:2 - and it shouldn't be overlooked simply because it isn't numbered in the series.
FFXIsAstyanax

I don't miss your point, but your point is just too off topic. MP:H has little no influence in the main series, because it's a spin off made for a different hardware, for a different kind of gamer, in a very different situation - not matter how good it is. I never was discusiing quality, but how MP:H doesn't hint to anything regarding MP3.

The lock on is probably still there because of puzzles and weapons like the Gravity Beam.

You make me sick with that comment.

Metroid is more of a adventure/FPS .   You cant really compare it to Halo or even all the other fps for that matter.

I give MP2 a 9/10, but its just more of the same.  I expect this to be more of the same, again.  Which is one more "more of the same" than I'd like.  Nintendo may be pushing their luck, but at the very least it's guaranteed to be a great game.

So I'm not really anticipating it as much as I did past Metroids.  In the past, I considered a new Metroid a huge event.  This one hasn't generated that kind of buzz with me yet.

I'd rather get a new Metroid then Metroid Prime part III.

Well...actually, it could hint at the rumored online play, which is probably the reason for the huge delay. It was almost finished. It was supposed to be a launch title, remember? So im sure that's what the delay was for. MPH online play was really fun (imo), and with the Wiimote and how aiming is done in MP3, the game would be really really fun online. Of course, as long as they take out lock-on in deathmatch. If Retro didn't...I would question there muliplayer development abilities, lol....seriously.

Well that I can agree upon with you. And like I said, MP:3 is at the top of my purchase at release list.

Well, I think I've repeated why multiplayer doesn't belong to Metroid times enough. Anyway, when Casamassina played MP3 the first time, he said he wasn't impressed by the targetting at all, and that was back at E3 2006. Months later, in september, with the added "expert mode", press said MP3 might define FPS targetting. I mean, four months of work to get a "might", which pretty much shows programming for the Wiimote takes way more time than you would like. All that just to say they may be very well still working on the singleplayer.

Also, Reggie recently said they're pushing back their main titles so third parties can enjoy their success, which is very important to keep them close. MP3 could be ready right now.
