To clear up all the topics regarding Metroid prime 3's multiplayer I have gotten the interview and you can see what they said about the multiplayer. Interview

Here's a snippett from it. May 16th 2006

IGN Wii: Will Metroid Prime 3 feature an online mode?

Kensuke Tanabe: No, we have only single-player. I have also produced Prime Hunters and for that game I tried to use the Wi-Fi Connection for multiplayer. For Prime 3, I would like to concentrate more on the single-player so I decided not to implement multiplayer for Prime 3. As you know, Wii will have Connect 24, so we are thinking more about the possibility of using that functionality so that the player can get something.

So basically they confirmed NO ONLINE. It's been delayed and they said it was to add polish and whatnot. It's safe to assume NO ONLINE. No more topics on this. If you want to believe that it's online since it got delayed fine but keep it here. No more topics on this.

"no online" are the words which made mp3 horrible, i mean god, are they that dense? Online is what made hunters sucessful, and it would make MP3 actually making the person feel justified in buying it. Im gonna rent this one.

Are you serious? Metroid Prime 1 and 2 were all about story and that's why I bought them. Not for Prime 2s terrible tacked on Mutliplayer. Super Metroid is one of the best games ever and it didn't have a multiplayer mode. Are you saying it's a prerequisite for a game to have Multiplayer before you'll buy it?

Yeah, that would be nice. But I'd rather have a polished epic single player than a multiplayer mode

Good! Just give me an awesome single player experience, that's all I want.

Also, I just saw the new screens from the latest Play magazine(should be easy to find now) and it looks really sweet!! Nothing like the last direct feed screens we got which looked horrible. One of the best looking Wii game easily.

Yeah I'd take Single player over multiplayer anyday. I got a good lineup of multiplayer games I want.

Did anyone evr bother to read the whole article, be3cause if you did, you would know that it was written in MAY 2006. Thats 13 months ago. In the article he said it would be a launch title, it wasn't by 9 months!!! So who's to say that the delay was to include an online mode, and that from that interview untill now most of the developers time was put into multiplayer mode, because honestly, what game, with this much hype, gets delayed 9 months and not have a completly new feature about it. I for one am a stong believer that Metroid Prime 3's online modes (yes i said modes) will be announced at E3 2007. ( 1 month and a bit before lanch)

To tell you the truth, I'm sort of ambivalent to the presence of an online mode in MP3. I really wouldn't really care either way. Metroid Prime was an amazing an immersive game with only single player. Also, I doubt the multiplayer mode in MP2 really made it any better than the original. The online mode in MPH was cool for a while, but to tell you the truth it became very annoying when you had players exploiting one thing or another over, and over. It probably would be cool to have an online mode but multiplayer was never what made the MP so great. I would have been very upset if inclusion of the online mode took away from the single player (which btw is what I believe MPH suffered from). Not in any way is this going to deter me from buying the game at launch, though. :)

With the last two Prime titles on Gamecube, I knew they were excellent games, I just didn't buy them. Even after playing both first hand and experiencing them for myself. Corruption does look good, and I was leaning towards buying it, but the online was really something I was looking forward to. It doesn't seem like Nintendo is really taking advantage of online, and it's why I only turn my system on for a few minutes a week to check on VC titles. To which I haven't seen a game in months worth buying. Nintendo knows their system isn't the powerhouse of the market, but not using the system to it's full potential is really starting to bother me. I need more replay value in my Wii games, I'm not dropping money on a game for a single play through. If things keep up like this, I'll have to come to the conclusion that there is no such thing as a good new system, and that the business is too busy kicking out the older games for a new profit. I may just stick with my Neo-Geo.

Um... you need to learn to read. It specifically states in the specifications that the game is only for one player.

for in the first line ... there's a proble ... "no online 3 months before release" what do you mean ... for mario strikers, they just came to work at the office 1 day before the release and they added online ???

dude, nintendo informed developpers at the very maximum 2 months after release about how the online would fonctions, and giving them the directions on how to proceed

SOOOO what about nintendo itself knew how online with the wii works at the same time as every other developpers and for metroid they started working on it, is there any possibility for this to be true ??

That should be good enough. Extra development time was to give the game more polish. Nintendo wanted "Twilight Princess" levels of polish. Already been confirmed thats what extra time was for. http://www.niwifi.net/2007/06/23/metroid-prime-3-details-from-media-summit/

No, and if you really want to keep lying to yourself and not face facts, at least admit that it has been confirmed two times that there is no on-line multiplayer of any sort and that the probability of on-line multiplayer is very small indeed.

for in the first line ... there's a proble ... "no online 3 months before release" what do you mean ... for mario strikers, they just came to work at the office 1 day before the release and they added online ???

I am really having a hard time understanding what you're trying to say. Can you speak in complete sentences, with correct spelling, appropriate punctuation, and capitalization? Normally, I would ignore the obvious faults in people's posts but you really have to write in proper English if you expect me to respond to your questions.

How is that possible 1 day before release. I guess it got shipped by magic right?

There is a difference though u need to make the maps, add the weapons(actually u need to make a system of stackable powerups), add the functionallity and test. It would take a good 4 months to add online for metroid.

A 10 MONTH DELAY JUST TO POLISH THE GAME?? MY @$$!!!! I know they did something in the realm of multiplayer or online capabilities. Seriously, Some games ARE made in the span of 10 MONTHS, so I know they did something.

But As Most people have said Metroid is a game focused on the 1st player experience, It would be great online and even off.

HerbSewell

Yes, there we go. More biased "commonsense" to keep this thread going and repeating itself.

Why do you say its Biased? Do you even know wether I lean towards one side or another in this situation? And Can you argue a 10 MONTH delay just to polish the game? I doubt it, Im not arguing there is going to BE online multiplayer, I specifically said "MUltiplayer" or "online capabilities."

"I've chosen my words carefully Persian, you should have done the same " :P just joking but if you did'nt recognized it that was from The 300.

I'm saying biased because you obviously won't just drop the idea that there is going to be multiplayer. By on-line capabilities, the only thing one could hope for is the WiiConnect24 feature.

If it has online why not mention it in the fact sheet? Why hide such a big part of a game? 10 months COULD have been used to make the game much better and the screenshots prove that.

Then you obviously do not know the definition of Biased so either look it up and use the word properly or stop using it at all.

Anyways, as most of the people here said that is a VERY old article, 6 months before the Wii was released, it is now 7 months after the wii was released, so its practically a 13 month old article. I don't think we can trust something like that as a "reliable source".

i agree with this... but im NOT saying multiplayer is in the game im just saying that it is a little odd for a game set for launch was only being polished to be released 10 months later

No, I am using the word correctly. You were biased because you want and don't deny the fact that there could be on-line multiplayer; Ergo, you were biased in your interpretation of why the game is taking so long to refine.

that interview is more than a year old. who knows how much changed. that was when mp3 was gonna be a launch title. i think theres a chance still for multiplayer but i only really care about single for 3. multiplayer would be nice though
