I finally got the second bonus ending of Metroid Prime 3, and at the very end, when Samus's ship flies off into the distance, a phazon-version of her ship follows her. Is this a sign of a continuation of the series? Of course, I'm already worked up over Metroid Other M, but I would be overjoyed to know that the saga continues. They can't just leave an open ending like that and not continue the story...that's just cruel.

the prime series was/is quite popular. it's likely that they'll make more first person metroid games.

They Probably did that just to get this reaction. Have it get really suspenseful and make people look more and more forward to it and then release yet another Metroid Prime. Sort of like blizzard. except they did it on purpose. Starcraft 2 was supposed to come out 2008 now its 2010 and they are still working on it.

It's the ending of a game. That's the textbook definition of a spoiler. Many people play Metroid, trying to get 100%, simply for the ending. You've now ruined it for anyone who hasn't finished the game.

^lol if the end of the game and the trilogy is hardly a spoiler, what is? Anyway, we will probably see some more Metroid Prime goodness in the future, how long that will be is completely up in the air.

No the definition of a spoiler is some thing that blows the plot of some thing. If you were reading a book and I said that one of the people turned traitor in the middle of the book it would still be a spoiler. it doesn't have to be the end. But in this case it is the end.

Is this an alt account, because your posts in this forum is getting disruptive.

On topic. The Prime series was a trilogy so it's over and it would have been nice if you made a spoiler tag for your initial post TC.

There's a lot of speculation that the ship seen following Samus at the end of Metroid Prime 3 is in fact Sylux from Metroid Prime Hunters.

Sylux Ship

Another theory is that the ship actually belongs to Dark Samus. This wouldn't be very shocking, as the previous two Prime games have all had secret endings that show Dark Samus surviving whatever it is that you did to her. This would be pretty silly though in this case as the source of all Phazon is seamingly destroyed (along with Dark Samus/Metroid Prime).

The developers behind the Prime series have stated that they would like to continue the series on the DS/DSi at some point in the future and the former director of the series has also said that if the fans would like to see Phazon and Dark Samus again, that they'd love to make another game. Of course, it all comes down to what Nintendo wants. The Prime series isn't a very big seller compared to Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon and generally requires a bigger budget to produce (than your average spinoff/2D Mario or Pokemon). Not to mention that the Trilogy compilation sold less than half a million (while NPC Mario Tennis continues to sell like hotcakes) and that Japan absolutely hates the Metroid Prime series for being a FPS and being developed in America (Japan hates non-Japanese games). Really though, Japan never even liked Metroid even when it was made by Japanese devs...

I'm pretty sure that from now on, Metroid will be back in the hands of Japanese devs. Whether or not the series will continue that way or "die" depends entirely on the success of Metroid: Other M. If Other M fails, we can expect the series to go the way of Kid Icarus with Samus only appearing in the occasional Smash Bros. Either way, I'm positive that an America developed Metroid title is out of the question. If Retro is working on anythign right now, it beter be successful, because I can see Nintendo firing their staff and dissolving them. Which is a real shame.

The Prime series is pretty much dead as far as we know, but maybe there will be a Metroid game in the future that will pick up from that part.

SPOILER!!! (Also at top of page.) For one this says it is the same saga for two the title of this is metroid prime 4. Anybody else wonder?

I don't think metroid prime 4 will exist but i think it may be a back up plan judging by the cliff hanger we got in metroid prime 3. But there might be another saga when the space pirates make their move. who knows what might happen with the series

About all the talk of spoilers in previous posts, is it really that big of a deal?

Metroid Prime 3 Corruption was released on Aug 27, 2007. That means the game's been out now for what, 2 1/2 years? That's given people more then enough time to beat the game. It's kind of ridiculous to accuse someone of talking about spoilers for a game that's been out for 2 1/2 years. That's like someone reading about the ending for Twilight Princess today and complaining that it was spoiled because they haven't beaten it yet. If it takes someone that long to beat a game then they shouldn't be playing games, stop whining and get over it.

After 2 1/2 years it shouldn't matter if people talk about a game, regardless if there's spoilers or not. Once a game's been out for a certain period of time nothing about it should really be considered spoilers anymore imo. I can understand talking about spoilers for a game within the first few months of it's release, or even up to a year because people wouldn't want to have anything spoiled if they're still playing it or haven't had a chance to play/rent/buy it yet. But after that period of time calling it spoilers is just silly.

As for the Thread Topic.

If Metroid Prime 4 was released that would kind of defeat the purpose of releasing the Metroid Prime Trilogy: Collectors Edition. And then it wouldn't be able to be called the Metroid Prime Trilogy anymore either. I don't think it's very likely to happen. Personally I'd much rather see new games like Metroid Other M being made.

I like the Prime trilogy, but think it's tie for Metroid to continue in a different direction. Other M may take it in that direction (though it's impossible to say if that will be the only game of its style or not).

It is obvious it's Sylux.

Before I go on, I might as well put a *spoiler* up -.-

Anyways, like I said, it's pretty obvious it's Sylux. The way his/her/its body armor looks like matches the ship at the end of MP3 very well. It is possible he could have gotten a brand new ship after the events of MP:H. Sylux also hates the federation and Samus, and it only seems fitting that out of all the bounty hunters, he would be the one to follow her. He and all 6 of the other hunters survived after MP:H so it would probably be him.

I think the next Prime game will not be part of the "trilogy", but a sequel to MP:H. The game has a large, devoted fanbase as it is the only FPS on the DS worth anything, and imo is one of the best online experiences the DS has to offer. If you actually play the game you can tell it was made to be like the older fast-paced FPS of the last decade, like quake and unreal. People WILL buy MP:H2 if it were to come out, and I'd be surprised if Nintendo didn't cash in on this.

For those of you who would rather have a new sidescrolling metroid, Isympathizewith you, but I'd rather play a good FPS then a good sidescroller, even one as good as metroid.

No, I think it's been pretty well established that MP3 was the final game in the Prime series.

I wouldn't rule out another first person metroid game at some point in the future, but there isn't going to be a Metroid Prime 4.

Just because it was established as a Trilogy doesn't mean that there won't be a sequel. Take Halo for example. No matter what Bungie says (or wants), there will always be another Halo game coming out.

However, the difference between Metroid and Halo is that Halo actually sells. Metroid had a good run with the first Metroid Prime but the next two games failed to garner the same attention (and profit). Nintendo is bringing the series back to Japan to see give it one last chance before they shelve it for another two generations. Why would Nintendo keep funding Metroid Prime games when it would be so much easier and cheaper to make a new Mario Party that will sell five times better?

Samus has NEVER been in third person, except in morphball form in the prime games. Are you thinking of a 2D perspective?

Hunters isn't Retro Studios and neither is Metroid Prime Pinball. But even if it was it still wouldn't count because it is a remake of Metroid Prime just in Pinball form and Remakes don't count. The reason I don't think Hunters counts in the trilogy is because Retro Studios started the trilogy and usually Trilogies are developed by the same team that made the other titles in the Trilogy.

I don't understand how anyone could even relate this two ships to eachother, they look nothing alike. The color schemes are completely different, and geometrically, they aren't even close besides the front wings (which again, aren't even that similar). I think a lot of people have scoptoma, and see what they want to see.

Either way. I love Metroid FPA... but I'm ready for something new. I wish they would leave the series alone until Nintendo releases a console that is able to produce Hd visuals. I can only imagine how awesome that would look from inside Samus' helmet

How about a spoiler warning. Thanks.

bob_newman

it's hardly a spoiler

It's the ending of a game. That's the textbook definition of a spoiler. Many people play Metroid, trying to get 100%, simply for the ending. You've now ruined it for anyone who hasn't finished the game.

The game is over 2 years old, if you havent seen the ending at this point, you weren't going to see it at all.

Which is a real shame.

ugh, are you kidding me? if metroid prime goes to the freakin DS or they bring back dark samus........ grrrr. That is just ridiculous
