No other game has come as close to a perfect model of competitive portable FPS gaming as MPH did.wraith-squad66

I'm willing to bet there is something on PSP that is better. Especially if you include third person shooters.

edit: I haven't played Metroid Prime Hunters though.

As for whether it should get a sequel.. I 'unno. But if it does hopefully it doesn't require touchscreen. I haven't played Kid Icarus Uprising but it seems very neat how there are so many choices for control schemes.

No other game has come as close to a perfect model of competitive portable FPS gaming as MPH did. Sure it did have a ton of flaws (and hackers), but it was still the most successful FPS to be released on a nintendo handheld to date, and had a decent competitive community for a long time as proof. I think nintendo should seriously consider creating a sequel or something similar to it for the 3DS. Discuss.

Kid Icarus has much better competitive online imo. I would love a sequel though.

I agree with that notion. I loved Hunters (really underrated) and the multiplayer was a blast. The sequel should bring more balance to the alt forms (sylux and samus were kinda broken) and have more than 4 people in a map.

I'd welcome something similar to it. But calling it "Metroid" is a crime.

It might have been the best handheld FPSm but it was also a rather mediocre game.

Kid Icarus is the superior shooter, though its third person. Hunters was good, but it wasn't Metroid.

As a Metroid game, meh. For what it is though, I wholeheartedly agree. The online component is the heart of the game and it was surprisingly deep for a portable system: voice/text chat, many modes, 8 weapons, 7 unique and vastly different characters, lots of maps, rival system, and records. No PSP games matched it and Vita still hasn't reached that level (but it will eventually I imagine, maybe with Killzone). I miss my days playing this game competitively. I want to see a sequel, or at least the return of the other hunters.

I have no idea why you people are saying it is not a Metroid game.  But yes for a FPS it was the best portable one.  I hated all of them on PSP.  Moon DS (not that anyone remembers) was a horrible clone of MPH.

I remember playing the crap out of the DS Download-Play feature on the MPH demo cart that came with the original silver DS. Dam, that was a long time ago :(

I agree. I'd love a spiritual successor, and Samus can be a guest character. :P

Sure, if you don't mind atrocious controls and a boring campaign.

100% agree. The control scheme was by far the most accurate for a handheld FPS to date still beating the vita and its dual analongs with it's MB&M like precision. The amount of mutliplayer content is jaw dropping too. Then there's how good the game looked for being a a 3DS game on the DS, a system which often had trouble with fully 3D environments.

I would pre-order a MPH for 3DS the second it was announced.
