Completely your fault. Why was everyone so foolish to get hyped by art works. It was just freaking concept art, that just shows what went through the developers minds. Every game has hundreds of different concept arts until the developers reach the decision how everything should look like. Not only that, but it were also LEAKED and INOFFICIAL concept arts.

Major disappointement was very predictable

fabz_95

ITS EARLY SCREENS FROM ONE PORTION OF THE GAME!!! CHILL OUT! Honestly people quit crying until you see more footage. There are many different disney worlds being created for this game. All those screens look like thier from one. Relax.

Exactly. It's not early, it's the very first in-game screens of the game. Chill out people.

Wow, look. Three people telling other people to "Chill out." None of us who were quoted by you guys were saying "This game is crap! There is no way that I would ever purchase something that looks like this! EVA!!" So who the heck are you guys talking to?

We just said that the screens that we've seen don't look like the artwork and we hope they work really hard toward that goal because, quite frankly, the art work is extremly impressive.

I don't think the graphics are bad, but I think the game would benefit from a cell-shaded look. Still can't wait.

I just finally saw the scans, and I like the look of the game. I'm a little surprised by Mickey's look, but I don't find it bad by any means. It only looked like one certain level of the game, and I thought it was fine.

I agree with the arguement about the concept art though... if you actually thought the Wii could handle something that looked that good, you were bound for disappointment.

Here's a little food for thought, its called CONCEPT art for a reason, if you look at most games concept art, the final product does not look like it. Thats the problem with people around here, they latch on to one thing, hype themselves to all high hell about it, paint this image in thier head based off that and when the product doesn't match that image exactly"oh it sucks", "oh thier liars" blah blah blah, moan, cry, moan. You people really need to stop letting hype dictate your opinion of games and use common sense. Of course the game wasn't going to look like its concept art, regarless of platform. Its an image of what the world will be like, NOT what the world is, those are called screenshots not concept art. Also take into account that your looking at sparatic screens, you have no idea how the world will evolve viusually over the course of the game, If you saw some screens of Twilight Princess with Link as a wolf and only in the Twilight, would you think the whole game was like that? You people need to stop jumping on the hype train so quickly, get interested in a games content not its concept art or you'll be dsappointed everytime.

Honestly Mickey is the only thing in there that looks good to me. Yeah we all know Wii aint gonna do PS360 graphics but come on.... they could of at least got the basic CONCEPT of the art.... usually a game at least maintains the aesthetics of the concept art, aparently not in this case. By the look of those screens they completely abandoned the concept art and went with baron, simplistic environments that lack any detail, texture or aesthetic beauty for that matter. They need to go back to square one because this just looks like an abomination (art wise) compared to the concept art.

the gameplay looks fantastic. The graphics, not as good.on a technical level they appeared ps2ish-(something the conduit at least avoided). On design level, they look passable, appropiate. But technically speaking i was a bit dissapointed.

I know I didn't. You've seen the hype train de-railed around here before, this is just another example. Also nothing I said wasn't true.

you better take that down, you're going to get in trouble my friend....

Gameplay? Where in the world have you seen any gameplay?

Those screens are somewhat "grainy" looking, at least in my opinion. If you actually look at the design (art stile), I think they followed it pretty closely. I love the one screen of Mikey looking out at the world, and the dragon from Sleeping Beauty is spewing that green liquid like a fountain. I will bet money on this game looking great in motion. I'm not saying it's going to rival galaxy, but I think it'll be close.

Things I get from these screens...

  • Cell shade effects (smoke in the upper right hand screen
  • the atmosphere/mood of the game seems to follow the concept art nicely
  • great lighting/shadowing effects

I haven't lost faith in this game at tall... some of you guys seriously need to look at the screens again, and think about what you actually see.

Actually you kind of did blow it out of proportion>.> No one said that "the game sucks" or "thier liars". Some of us are just disappointed by the look of the game. I know very well that the game was not going to look EXACTLY like the concept art, but the game looks sub-par graphically(if you compare it to the concept art or not). On a technical and artistic level. Now these are the first batch of screens and there is time for improvement but until there are more screens, or gameplay footage to prove otherwise, this game looks sub-par.

Here's an early screen of Mario Galaxy:

It looks barren and boring. We all know that not EVERY area of the game looks like this.

And as far as the way Mickey looks, I'll say it again: Mickey's appearance will CHANGE depending on how you play the game. Destroy things and he'll look meaner, restore things and he'll look nicer. Check the list on the first post again where these things are detailed.

I guess I am jumping the gun a bit :P , the game still has a good year left in development. I'm just sick of devs making these promises for mind blowing AAA Wii games and just delivering barely A quality. The concept for Epic Mickey sounds incredible and I really want to give this game a chance. Hopefully it's put together right.

I just saw the screens. What the hell is everyone complaining about? I thought it looked great, especially for scans of an early build. The art kind of reminds me of Psychonauts.

I saw the scans of the "beta" game. Looks cool to me. The game is a Fall 2010 release not a Q1 2010 release. There's plenty of time to improve. It reminds me the Sin & Punishment 2 early scans.

rock on, someone knows the developement stages! This game is definitely in the Alph/Beta stages. If it actually launches in the time frame you listed, they have plenty of time to make this game look even better.

All they are doing now is having people look for bugs/glitches, and fine tuning everything. It can only get better looking from here on out

i agree with the haters. The art style is horrible. they should have at least used a paint like art style, just like the original animations.
