The number one reason why I am not concerned about the Conduit failing:

Every single person that has actually played the E3 demo (unlike ANY of us) has highly praised it. We can all sit around and nit-pick the Internet screenshots and videos (which are never as good as seeing it in person), but the bottom line is that those that have played it say it's awesome.

...for a wii game among a very thin showing. But FPS like Resistance 2,Farcry 2, Project Origin, Killzone 2, and Valve's Left 4 Dead easily eclipsed it. Let's not even get into TPS. When they weren't talking about Wii, they didn't mention Conduit.

You're saying that their reports are only positive in comparison to the rest of the show. So, those same reporters would think much less of the Conduit if your aforementioned games were at E3?...hmm, that's some great logic. And with your argument methods, I can just as easily say that those games you mentioned aren't ever mentioned alongside the Conduit, so they aren't worth noting.

What the hell are you talking about? I'm saying The Conduit is only brought up in conjunction with the Wii because it had a very weak showing. And the aforementioned games WERE at E3, which is why I mentioned them... man, do you only follow nintendo?!

No, you just proved my point--that it doesn't matter what else is around. The reporters can make their own decisions and predictions of a game based on their first-hand experience with it, not on what other games are there. You see, those other games were there at E3, and it didn't impact their experience with the Conduit at all. In fact, the only comparing I saw in the articles I believe was in IGN's, and they said that people were confusing the Conduit for a 360 game.

Look, I'm not saying that you have to like the game. But I'll believe the people that have sat down with it over anyone else until it comes out.

Until environments are polished, this game won't look right.

Don't hate me for saying that, but I think most sites are praising it out of sympathy with the devs passion. Because there's no way to consider this OMGBBQ!

mkDSpro63

i agree the environments do need some work.

and your right there is no way to consider this OMGBBQ its OMGCAKE(chocolate too)

but i'm looking forward to this

Yes. The evironments need more work. The AI needs to be polished as well.

True, true, and true. I would also like some better direction with the art. Other than that, the Conduit seems to be doing fairly decent.

There is still at the very least 6 entire months for development if not more( I beleive they will push it back to Q2 of '09 ). That's plenty of time to do what they need to do to make it a good looking game. Which is something they are trying for. I beleive that the enviroments aren't up to par yet mostly because that was what least intrested them when prepairing for E3. Now that it's over they have lots of time to put the last bit of detail into everything.

let me explain something. Does anyone realise The Conduit does not have a publisher hiding this game till its completely finished?clicketyclick

Are they hiding pixels and texture maps?

The fact is, most games that come out these days aren't very original at all. You should get use to it.

I Am Alive: unique concept of surviving a disaster and the other survivors who seem to be just normal people - not mutants - in a desperate situation.

when i first saw the trailer for that i coudnt help but think "is this sapposed to be disaster: day of crisis?"

No the idea isn't really all that original but I don't see any other Wii game out there trying to do what this game is doing.

You're still not getting it. When considering which FPS was Best of Show, The Conduit didn't even make the nominee list. I saw GT TV interviews with critics who attended and I watched their awards videos. The Conduit simply wasn't a talking point unless they were talking specifically about the Wii's lineup, in which case it came up because the pickings were so slim.

And IGN did not say people were confusing The Conduit for a 360 game. IGN reported that the developer said they want to make a game that looks like a 360 game. (http://wii.ign.com/articles/867/867498p2.html )Are you going to take a developer's hype over critics who played the game demo? Because if you actually believe that The Conduit can be mistaken for a 360 game, you need to get some thick glasses to correct myopic fanboyism.

Marth6781

Did they?! Hahah, well either the writer has a serious - possibly terminal - case of fanboyitis or the aforementioned "people" are complete dolts. Not even getting into how large a gap there is between the graphical capabilities of Wii and of the 360, how about the Wii signs plastered everywhere reminding them they're in the Wii games section? How about the fact that they had a Wii sitting right in front of them, which was running the game?

If you're ready to trust idiots and fanboys like that over level-headed critics, then you've got problems of your own.

Looks alright. Character models are clearly highly detailed, but the level design is pretty bland it must be said. Still it looks alright, and it is at least a step in the right direction for 3rd party support for the Wii. I'm still interested in how this game will turn out at least.

Really? Just from E3:

Mirror's Edge - a unique game in which you're discouraged to fire a gun that focuses on building up momentum to perform parkour moves and features a complete lack of HUD

Dead Space - a unique game featuring mutants that grow new limbs and other body parts if you injure them, which travel on all four walls such that you can easily lose sight of where they're attacking you from and is set in outer space such that you can float around and push yourself from one wall to the other so you're not limited to walking on "the floor".

LittleBigPlanet - an original game featuring "coopetition" with your "frenemies", allowing you to build your own obstacle courses and featuring a unique art-style and unlikely hero known as Sack Boy. Hell, this game can even be used in lieu of a powerpoint presentation.

Fallout 3: The Fallout series has a unique combination of RPG and shooter elements and counts among the few games that pull that off successfully. The VATS system shown off blends traditional shoot-their-weak point with dice-rolling chance-of-success RPG gameplay. And the Fallout series has always been original in its setting and plot. Oh, an the option to switch between FPS and TPS...sweet.

Dark Void: Unique vertical cover system and I don't think Niko Bellic ever hijacked a UFO.

I Am Alive: unique concept of surviving a disaster and the other survivors who seem to be just normal people - not mutants - in a desperate situation.

everytime we see it, it looks better.

the conduit looks like a student mod project..ive said it before and ill keep saying it, till i actually see something worhty in the conduit....everyone who only has a wii is getting hyped for this POS, cos they really havent experienced a real FPS like Half life, Halo, Timesplitters, COD, etc....,and no MP3 (Best game franchise ever!!!!) doesnt count as an FPS, it has a FP perspective, but the gameplay is all about adventure ....so dont tihnk a FPS will play like that....

the enviornements suck in the conduit, the textures suck, i love the Guns (except for that ugly homing grenade alien gun thing), and i also love the futuristic suit...but everything else abt the graphcis suck.....

the gameplay doesnt look smooth at all, the enemy movement looks horrible, and everything looks unpolished..the aliens models and textures are ugly.....

also to the guys saying IGN (Mark Bozon) said that ppl passing by thought the game looked like a 360 game(yes i watched the live wire conduit showing, and Mark did infact say that)....remember that IGNs nintendo team (my fav) always hype up games like NMH (crappiest writing imo, and most repetitive gameplay) and then give it low scores...i dont kno why the hype up games INITIALLY, and then give it the score it deserves....they are hypng up deadly creatures now..and that game looks like crap concept wise.. the conduit is just another one of their hype games...theyll end up giving it a 7.9, my prediction

this game will rock imo.

I think it will look better than anyone expects. No, nothing like a 360 game. But I think it will look damn good when finished. It already looks better than 95% of the games.

The only systems (besides computers) that actually have nice looking "still pics/ video" are 360/PS3. Everything before this gen (including Wii due to it's underpowered inards) have always imo...had terrible looking pics/vids. Especially jaggies...

I'm not expecting OMGWETDREAMZ gfx, but it does look good.

The voice acting is cheesy but that's what I'm looking for. It's kinda like a Jamesbond voice act which will make the game more fun ^_^
