I've already asked you guys what the 4 GB HDD for the DS is like and is it worth it? The resounding response seems to be no, with a few cheers.

Now what about the compact flash card version of the Max Media player. It can use up to 8 GB cards.

Have you guys had the same issues with it as the HDD? How many songs and videos can I store for say 1 GB to 8 GB.

I really would like for everything I need to be in one device like the DS. Gaming, Music, Movies, and coming this June internet Browsing.

So what do you guys think?

I don't really think I need more than 1,000 songs and maybe 10 hours of video.

It'd be cool to have everything in one place so long as it all performs well

Right now the retail for the Maxx Media pack with a 1GB C Flash card is $49.99.

I think its a good deal.

o man, just dont. i saw it thinking it would be good, but it reminded me of gamesharking on the gameboy color because of how glitchy it was. luckly i got it for christmas and it was easy to claim that it was defective at best buy...which technically it was chock-full of bugs.

So You've never actually used it?

Hmm. Poor recommendation then.

I figure if it works I'll get the  1GB that comes with it and maybe get a 4GB for $50 or so later on and maybe a 8 GB even later.

I mean I don't need that many songs and movies. The luxury is nice, but 10 GB to 20 GB is fine for me. Two 8 GB cards would be around $200 and thats  16GBs where you can buy a  4GB iPod for $200. 4 times the memory for the same price.

So long as it works.

i dont understand the point of using a ds as an mp3 player. With modern technology and prices, there are mp3 players that are at least 1gig for about 100 canadian, and their battery life is probably longer than a ds's. Plus, have you thought about using it? when you close the ds it would probably turn off, and then you'd have to start it up again, and you would have to constantly have your ds open to listen to it. If you are going to sit down to listen to it (at home of the library or whatever) then thats cool, but if you're at home and theres a comptuer handy, then that makes it obsolete.
It is a great concept, but looking at the big picture, you have to think about how you would use it. If you dont mind walking around with your ds open and constantly worrying about dropping it, than yeah, go for it. Just dont blame me if you spend 50 bucks on it and the only spot you can use it is when you are sitting down for a long period of time.

To sum it all up: Think about how you will actually use it and how it can be used compared to how you could use a simple mp3 player, and then think to yourself-do you really need that? With the technology out there today, there certainly are better purchases that can be made, but at the cost of more money. Think about it for a while, and try to list some reasons why you want/need it, and then how you can use it.
