I personally feel the DS is lacking in this genre which disappoints me because I bought Resident Evil: Deadly Silence in 2006 and loved every minute of it. Unfortunately I've been unable to find a game that compares to it. Why are there so few 3rd person shooters on the DS?

No.1 FPS's ussualy take up a hella of a lot of mem and space-

If you haven't already, check out Brothers in Arms DS. Don't believe the Gamespot review, they don't know what they're talking about.

I have Brothers in Arms: DS. Can't believe I forgot I had that! FYI, I am a relatively casual gamer but I primarily use my DS for playing away from home (I own and Xbox 360 which I play most of the time) and long journeys so I would like more games like this for when I go away on holiday and such.

I guess, technically RE is 3rd person. I think of 3rd person games like Brothers in Arms. (which I enjoyed)

I know it's off-topic, but I feel I have to respond to the Nintendo/casual comment made earlier in the thread. I don't really see the DS as a casual gamers console. Being a gamer of nearly 20 years, the DS is comfortably my most played console these past few years. I play it more than my 360 or Wii. It has more games that appeal to me than the others and most DS games have a feel to them comparable to the pre-PS2 era of gaming. They don't try to create an 'experience' or forget that they are just games.

Anyways, the DS is pretty well suited to the shoot 'em up genre, it's just some games can be taxing on the hands and wrist. Especially FPS games. I'd personally like to see more varying third person shoot 'em ups that offer a refreshing control scheme.

Indeed, DS is a gamers machine, and everyone else for that matter. Don't get me started on awkward FPS controls, I can;t play them laying back because the DS needs to be resting somewhere... and even then it's uncomfortable.

Correct. Apart from Resident Evil DS and Brother's In Arms I can't think of any others.

I don't know if it's classified as a "shooter" or not but Transformers Decepticons has a lot of 3rd person shooting action.
