With E3 around the corner, I was thinking about what Nintendo could possibly show us and I got thinking -- I strongly believe we might see a fair amount of MotionPlus supported games, apart from just the new Zelda Wii.
I say this because of the launch of the new black Wii, which comes bundled with Wii Sports Resort and MotionPlus, along with everything else from the old bundle. Its notjust the black Wii, but Nintendo has changed the bundles of the white Wii as well to include the same deal (MotionPlus and Wii Sports Resort).I feel that they obviously want the peripheral to get out into as many households as possible. I also believe that Nintendo thinks MotionPlus is vital to the future of the console's software library and thus they must include it in the SKUs.
I don't know if I'm onto something or if it's just wishful thinking, however I'm excited and hopefully I am right. I love MotionPlus and it has so much potential, but we haven't seen many developers use it, including Nintendo. The last big game to use it was Red Steel 2. I'm hoping for much more, however I know Nintendo doesn't pressure people to use and support their peripherals, Reggie has said it himself.
Heres hoping at E3 we get a fair share of games that actually use the device, because I think the userbase is out there. Wii Sports Resort has done well commercially, the Tiger Woods bundle was successful, Red Steel 2 met sales expectations, etc -- the userbase is definitely out there -- I just hope that they take more advantage of the peripheral, because with the creativity of development teams and that device, the possibilities for great games is endless.
