Batman: Arkham Asylum Game Of The Year Edition Hops On 3D Bandwagon

Or should that be batwagon? Regardless, Eidos has set dates for there-release versionof Rocksteady Studios' surprisingly good comic book hit Batman: Arkham Asylum, confirming that we'll be battling the asylum's inmates in a new way this spring.

Batman: Arkham Asylum Game of the Year edition tosses in a pair of 3D glasses for extra depth, plus a sextet of challenge maps when it comes to North America on May 11, Europe and "Australiasia" on March 26. The new GOTY box art also throws in a few gaming publications all over the place for no extra charge.

Expect Batman: Arkham Asylum Game of the Year to sneak its way onto the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Games For Windows PCs... in 3D!!!

Will Nintendo follow? No. They've already made it clear how they feel about playing 3D games that require glasses. Besides, that's not even the desireable 3D, that's old-fashion 3D, who the hell wants to play an entire game with those on? Nintendo is very interested in 3D, they just want to do it without glasses, which they are with the new DS coming out. That's the kind of 3D technology I'm holding out for, for both games and movies. It'll happen.

Why ask trolls when you can ask real Wii users. But I believe Nintendo could use the same idea and apply it to Mario Galaxy 2. It seems like it'll fit the game.

Well if we can watch an hour long movie with these on I don't see why we wouldn't use them for gaming. But I do agree with what your saying and it'd be awesome if we didn't need them.

thats the really old fashioned 3d tech is it? anywho i think the wii already has a game out that uses that tech. i cant remember the name of it though (google isnt helping :P) but i do remember it getting a crap review. anywho one thing my searching does seem to indicate at least is that disney will be using similar stuff for some wii games in the future also.

this. and please, don't let it happen. the idea of having to wear special goggles to play videogames is frightening to me.

I guess the TP forgot that Nintendo already made a 3D system so they won't be following anyone.

Nintendo's been there and done that with the Virtual Boy thus the reason I think Nintendo is trying to do 3D the right way -Without the use of unnecessary 3D Googles. Mostpeople don't realize that3D goggles won't workthe same on all 3D Tv's. It's going to be just likehow DVD+R's won't work on DVD-R Players but they are still both DVD's. Nintendo is doing it the right way with the 3DS, and not limiting you to wearing goggles to correctly see 3D games.

I imagine this technology is still too primitive to make it feel interesting and non-gimmicky, as I can't imagine how the old-fashioned 3D would add to the gameplay of a game that wasn't even designed for it. It would be a lot like the Sega CD add-on: proof-of-concept shovelware with superficial gameplay.

Answer: Nintendo 3DS. It's obvious they'll come with 3D. However, the 3DS won't use any glasses. And Rad racer on NES used glasses like that. It's not new.

I thought MS said they had no real interest in 3D and I don't see Nintendo jumping on board as I think it was Miyamoto said in an interview before the 3DS was announced about how the aspect of wearing glasses for 3D is not something they think is a good idea.

The whole idea of wearing expensive glasses for the new 3d televisions coming out will not be met well by mainstream consumers. People will reject it until they find a way to do it without glasses.

I think its more the $2000 TV's then the glasses that will keep it from mainstream saturation, then the glasses.

3D televisions will take awhile to penetrate the market but its pretty much inevitable that it will be the norm one day. After 3d televisions are holographic displays so there is so much in store for what could happen in the future.

3D TVs will only have a chance of "penetrating the market" when they don't need glasses (i'm avoiding the G word typically used on this situation because it refreshes some bad memories of the recent past)

Nintendo is already going 3D with the 3DS. The next gen DSi which doesn't require glasses and includes motion control.

This.

And I honestly think Ninty has been on the 3d thing LONG before any other console dev. C'mon, they've been doing 3d since 1995 with the Virtual Boy (which I am proud to own.)

I have my doubts that this latest 3D push will do any better than the last few, granted the tech has improved over the years but its still just being sold as a gimmick not a true upgrade to visual entertainment. Gimmicks run their course and then fade away and that's what I think will happen with 3D.

nintendo has already done 3d (virtual boy). and it was a disaster. i think nintendo is smart to not jump on the 3d bandwagon just yet. they want to do it without ugly glasses.

Well eventually it will be significant; When they can cut the cost and when the film and video game entertainment are built from the ground up with this 3D display.
