well i was thinking, everyone knows one problem with the hd is that it is external, and that is a problem since the wii is a sleek small system, nintendo wants to maintain that image, now wii utalizes bluetooth, the fast wireless transfering technology that we all know and love, why not make a wireless bluetooth hd?? that would solve the problem of where to put it, answer: anywhere. i mean it is simple logic, i dont know if this has been thrown around before, but i like the idea. and it would only be time after that before cell phone bluetooth for file transfers and stuff, and maybe even a comon blutooth headset woudl function, i dont know, im thinking out of the box, but that is how the wii was made wasnt it? thinking out of the box

so please feed back would be good!

it would be more pricy.. and one of N policy is to be cheap. I do not think that a EHD would be a great deal. Hey they do not even need to make it possibe for huge Ext HD.. a compatibily with SD 4Gb/8Gb would be ok atm. as long as you can play from the SD card.

There really isn't a reason to have a bluetooth hard drive. Sure it won't have a cable connecting it to the Wii but it's going to have to get it power from something. A battery powered bluetoooth hard drive would have a battery life of a few hours at best.

There is no reason why a hard drive can't use one of the Wii's USB ports. USB is faster and more secure than bluetooth, not to mention that a hard drive can also get power though USB so you would only have one cable anyway.

It's interesting I'll give you that

As far as headsets and stuff in the future you know that bluetooth only supports 7 connections right?

but say you want a 30 gb hd, or 60, adn a 8 gb sd card is 60 to 70 bucks, dont quote me, and the 60 gb is say 120 bucks, nintendo can take a hit, scince the wii itself sells for more than the parts in it

lol, now i know it supports 7

but im not saying all 7 at once, and for online that is one person online at a time, maybe 2, so you have controller, hd, and 5 more spaces, it seems doable to me

very good point, its all in the hands of nintendo, i imagine this is somthing that can be useful, and nintendo had to put bluetooth in planing to use it for more than a controller, they could have saved money just using the standard wireless

Nintendo will NEVER take a hit. They are a profit only company with everything they make.

I have a better idea, what about a hardive that you connect to the 4 gamecube controller ports so it can stay there, considering the face plates covering that part are removeable, and have a small usb cable conneted to the wii's usb socket to transfer data. This way it could support at least 40GB of space. Thought it would be expensive it would be worth it.

What do you think?

It won't exclude the gamecube, it connects to the controller ports so it's stuck on top of the wii, the only vital connection is the usb one, so you can remove the hdd from the top of the wii whenever you want without any consecuence.

ok that would be fine it I could take it off then implaying gamecube either that or something like this where it would connect to the back of the wii

Bluetooth isn't the particularly fast, even by wireless standards. Bluetooth 2.0 (assuming the Wii even supports this version) maxes out at 3MBit/s (2.1Mbit/s in practice). By contrast, 802.11G supports up to 54 Mbit/s. And USB 2.0 supports up to 480MBit/s.

The latter is really the only viable method for a Hard Drive.
