This problem only happens with Wii Sports and Metroid Prime 3. When I load up the game you can hear the disc skipping in the drive. The music and dialogue jumps when playing Prime and loading takes a lot longer. When you shoot a door to open it you have to stand in front of it for about 20 seconds before the door opens.

I should point out both those games are new and don't have huge scratches or even any fingerprints. There is no difference between those games and the others that work. I'm getting the "An error has occured" message also. That happens sometimes as the game is loading or sometimes after the game has started.

Another strange thing is if I turn the Wii on, then insert Prime that's when the disc skips, but if I turn the Wii on by inserting the Prime disc it seems to load ok and no skipping or music jumping occurs. The loading doesn't take as long either.

I know Wii's have a very low fail rate. I must just be very unlucky.

I want to know about the games I've bought from the VC. If I take my Wii back to the store and exchange it for a new Wii will I be able to download my VC games again or will I have to buy them again? The alternative is to send it to Nintendo for repairs. How long does it take for them to repair it and do they fix your console and return it or send you a refurbished console?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Send it back to Nintendo

It'll take about 2 business weeks (probably less) and they'll fix it or give you another

Do NOT bring it back to the store.

You'll lose all your games and they wont have a new one to replace with your defective one, add in the fact that Nintendo knows how to fix Nintendo consoles correctly and will extend your warranty from one year of the repair.

It will take 16-19 days from the time you send it to the time you get it back. Hope that helps.
